"My husband and I came to have lunch at M.Y. China on Mother's Day. We have made a reservation at 12:00 but as you know, many restaurant would let you stand and wait for at least 5-10 minutes to sit down even though you have a reservation. But to my surprise, M.Y. China takes us to our table without waiting. That already gives me a very good impression about time management of this restaurant. Then, the service and good are great too. We will definitely come back!"

"The food is totally amazing. Second time here and the food is awesome! The service, however, needs tweaking. but the manager was very peranable and friendly. I did enjoy the one-on-one attention we received when he came by to ask how we were doing. I highly recommend just about everything on the menu!"

"Came to MY China for lunch on a Tuesday to celebrate a co-workers birthday. There were 7 in our group. Was greeted and seated promptly. Restaurant is very elegant and service was very good. We ordered a number of dishes and shared them family style. All the dishes were excellent. Highly recommend the beef pulled noodles in soup, wild boar dumplings, wild boar scissor cut noodles, mushu pork tacos, shui mai, crispy roast chicken, and the pork and crab dumplings. Prices are a bit on the high side, but well worth it. Looking forward to returning in the near future to try some of the other dishes."

"The restaufarnt is beautiful, but I was underwhelmed by the menu choices; they are extremly limited and over-priced. The server was pleasant enough when she showed up. The duck was good (although the portion is extremely small); the chicken and sweet & sour pork were acceptable, but hardly worth the price. I doubt that we'll be back even though we work extremely close to the restauant."

"Used to be, to eat great Chinese one has to patronize typical Chinese restaurants that cater mainly to Chinese folks. With M.Y. China that's no longer the case. This restaurant brings fine authentic Chinese cooking to the mainstream dining scene. It succeeds in attracting both Chinese who shun Americanized Chinese cooking, and non-Chinese who are not comfortable eating in typical Chinese restos. There is good balance of yin and yang here."

"Our third visit since they opened. It is now in regular rotation of our favorites in the DT - SF area. Even a go-to for Chinese. They have managed to maintain the consistency of their dishes so far. Hooray!! The flavors are very rich and complex. Soooooooooooo good. Be adventuresome. The pork and truffle dumplings are very special - the flavors in the filling are really special."

"Really fun Chinese food from a well-regarded chef. We came in one night and split a variety of dishes and all were very tasty, from the juicy dumplings, to the longevity noodles, to the garlic pea shoots, to the desserts. All of that was accompanied by a fun Barbera d'Alba from Batasiolo.
Excellent night."

"Had a lunch here. The food was tasty, good portion&fresh. Loved their chicken kanpao. The fried peppers that weren't hot and gave great crunch to the dish. The texture was almost like rice crackers. Lots of meaty white chicken meat. Very happy about that. They weren't skimping on the meat and came with lots of veggies too. Extra charge for a small bowl of jasmine rice for $2. The rice was a bit on dry side. Although that could be just the character of jasmine rice. We also ordered the dim sum combo. They were pretty much the standard dim sum, the shrimp dumplings had three shrimp bites in each and were very good. I loved the sauce that came with it. The price is standard sf. It's not a cheap Chinese food but they were fresh food."

"From the very start, this was a bad experience. Though I had an OpenTable reservation - the host forgot about us after we checked in and seated walk-ins for at least 15 minutes. I had to go up and ask when my table would be ready. He apologized for forgetting us, but didn't do anything to make up for it. Our waitress seemed bored and never checked on us after she took our order; not a single query from her to see whether the food was to our liking. The food was not good. One noodle dish was burned. We sat with empty water glasses for the last dish, which was very salty. The Hong Kong noodles looked beautiful but the dish was corn starchy and the chicken tasteless. Extremely disappointing."

"I have now been to MY China about 3 times for lunch and 3 times for dinner. The restaurant is really great and very consistent I must say. What I have been loving lately is ordering things from the menu that I would normally not have gotten like the lobster. While it is super expensive ($50+ for 3 pound live lobster), I was blown away by the amazing flavors of this dish. I have never had lobster like that before and now find myself wanting to go back craving that dish like I do the Wild boar noodles. I cannot think of another place outside of China where the kitchen team shows you exactly how they are hand making the noodles.
On my next trip i think i would like to sit at the counters next to the noodle pullers. My new fav!"

"Very attractive in an opulent Las Vegas sort of way. Easy to forget you are in the mall. Sit against the bar if you like to watch food being made, as the cooks will put on a bit of a show, esp with the noodles.
The service staff seems disinterested in the food, and its all brought out by kitchen staff so there is a disconnect. Very impersonal.
The range of food items was interesting and very expensive. Some of the items were delicious - juicy dumplings, pulled noondle dishes, but others not as promised. A green papaya salad was really a tossed green salad with a few shreds of papaya and minimal mango. Very disappointing and not particularly well balanced - too acidic and thin.
It would be a good place for snacks or drinks."

"First time I went the food was excelent (December 2012), the service incredible. This time, the food was average, except for my plate that was a hand made noodle with squid ink with delicious sea food. Done to perfection. The other dishes ordered to my husband and daughter, tasted average Chinese food. Wild boar seasoned noodles needed more meat and some more taste to it, too bland. The Meyer lemon tart was also too bland and eggy, but the ice cream with crunchy rice was very tasty with the right combination of crunchiness with the three types of ice cream. The server was not very knowledgeable of the food.Nevertheless, I will go again and give it a second chance."

"Though it's in the SF Center, the upper level 'dome' localtion feels like being in a spectacular architectural landmark-the old Emporium dome above. We sat in a table near the noodle-maker station- fun to watch as you eat and enjoy.
And the house-made noodles are excellent- Hong Kong style- crispy, with a rich sauce, mushrooms, and chicken; Dan Dan noodles, a specialty.
I also tried iced lychee tea, a nice alterntive to black tea."

"Loved watching the open kitchen! My daughter enjoyed seeing the kitchen staff hand pull and scissor cut noodles. The kitchen staff is so friendly and engaging. They greeted us and explained what was happening at each prep station. The only point that kept the experience from being outstanding was the waitstaff. It would have been great if they could wipe the table between courses and fill water. Also we had requested rice and it never came, so we ended up asking again and waiting again for a period of time. Otherwise, the interesting menu and lovely chefs and kitchen staff were wonderful!"

"The food was very good, especially the dumplings and noodles.
The service was not acceptable for the price point. Our waiter did not introduce himself or the restaurant and just said "Can I take your drink order?" and "are you ready to order?" He also disappeared for about 30 minutes and we had to flag down someone else.
The ambiance is mixed - the decor is nice, but you are sitting shoulder to shoulder with the parties next to you. The restaurant is also open to the mall - so your view is of the mall interior. The Bar area and open kitchen make this a "fair" rating, as you can see the cooks putting on a show for entertainment.
Overall, I would recommend this, but with caveats and instructions: order dumplings and sit at the ba"

"M.Y. China is a welcome addition to the grand rotunda space that was previously under utilized. Service was good - the staff accommodated my wife and baby (with a stroller), even though we did feel like we were pushed into the kids section.
Overall food quality was good. The best dish is definitely the pulled noodle with beef. I would go there again just for that dish.
Our only criticism is the dishes all came out at the same time. This would have been fine if we had ordered multiple entrees, but we had ordered small dishes, noodle soup, and dumplings. By the time we were ready for noodle soup, it was lukewarm at best. The wait staff may want to ask in the future what the patrons preferences are in the future.

"A wonderful concept that perhaps needs additional time to mature and become truly wonderful. I have eaten at M.Y. China three times now and have had generally good experiences overall. The food, to my taste, was wanting not from a visual or presentation standpoint which are excellent however; the flavor and execution will need to evolve. Beef Noodle Soup, noodles are well cooked but bland in flavor while the broth was muddled in flavor definition and a little cloying in nature. The Pork Truffle Juicy Dumplings while blazing hot (as they should be) were lacking in flavor definition and at $17 dollars an order I could not discern the the usually quite distinct, truffle flavor at all. As I said, I love this concept and I'll keep coming back."

"It is like a fast food experience in a pretty setting. Tables for two are on top of each other, there is a minimal wine by the glass selection, food comes either too fast or too slow, the menu sounds good, but the food is not seasoned well.
This restaurant is probably is better for a mall lunch or a quick dinner before the movie - it is not a fine dining experience.
The hostess was very competent, the waiter was friendly but too busy to be attentive.

"Situated in a mall, MY China exceeds the expectations of "mall food". I've been here twice-once for dinner and once for brunch. Service, while spotty on the first visit a while ago, had greatly improved in my second visit. Dim sum is definitely worth it here--super fresh and tasty. Best seat in the house is at the noodle bar."

"very stylish - Great detail was paid to the look - very pleasing - including the table settings, dishes, placemats, etc. The menu is interesting but somehwhat limited - we would recommend the chicken. The service needs improvement - one of the specialty drinks was not available. My drink (Prosecco based) was served at room temperature (would have been refreshing if served at cellar temp or chilled) Side dishes ordered arrived at the end of the meal. We had a child in our group and asked that the check be delivered with dessert. The check arrived but NO dessert or coffee. We finally just paid cash and left without dessert or coffee. The waiter and manager seemed surprised that we were unhappy!"

"Unprofessional service. All the food arrived at once, and didn't fit on the table, yet they would not take away any dishes. The food was unremarkable. Cocktails were vodka-based and too sweet, like at a PF Chang's or other national chain. They did not seem to understand several requests. Very disappointing."

"Asked for a more solitary table on the perimeter of the big room and got it with a smile. Waiter was very pleasant, did not rush us and helped in our decisions as this was our fight visit. Everything was delicious - we ordered too much for two, but enjoyed every bite. All tasty without being too salty, noodles with a bite, nothing gooey, undercooked or overdone. Boar meat noodles was delicious and would have fed six, so be warned if you do not like large portions (wha?)
No long waits as at other popular dim sum places in the City. Of course, there are no carts that roll by but menu is just right.

"Went here because we wanted something easy with the kids (one of which is a picky eater). Food was ok-- nothing special, and if you are coming to San Francisco for great Chinese food there's a million other places you should go. That said, it wasn't bad-- it's just not a place I would go out of my way for or seek out! I will mention that the spring rolls at my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Madison, WI (Saigon Noodles on Odana Rd!) are much better than we had here, at about 1/2 the price. I would not mind paying 2x as much if they were even a little bit better (this is SF, it ain't going to be cheap), but they weren't...."
