Opened in early 2006 by three friends and former servers; Trio offers Pan-Asian cuisine with a heavy Thai influence, along with the warm service and hospitality that you would expect from a cozy neighborhood BYOB. Trio is located in the Fairmount section of the Philadelphia, and is just blocks from both the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the historic Eastern State Penitentiary.
Housed in a converted row home on the corner of Brown and Taney streets, Trio offers two floors of white tablecloth dining. Additionally, we offer al fresco dining on our second floor deck (weather permitting,) and a unique private dining room located on our third floor is available for banquets and parties
"Trio is always a pleasant dining experience, and the chef has stepped up the menu a bit. My only complaint this time around was that we weren't even offered a look at the dessert menu. Not sure why. But the appetizers and entrees were quite good."

"Trio is a charming, beautiful little BYOB carved out of a Fairmound rowhouse with a great outdoor roof deck , unique nuevo-Asian cuisine, and a loyal neighborhood following. I hadn't been to this place for about two years but I'd recommended it to many for the best roast duck ever! Naturally, I was extremely dissappointed when my duck arrived over-cooked, dryed out and tasteless. Oh well.
Maybe because it was Mother's Day, but our waitress seemed to be a substitute. She was very nice but seemed unfamiliar with the menu and kept recommending dishes from a different restaurant! Hope I can chalk this one up to an off-night!"

"We've been to Trio many times and never been let down. The food and service are always fantastic. We recently took friends from out of town. They have been raving about Trio all weekend. I would be hard pushed to choose a favorite, as EVERYTHING we've had has always been wonderful.
We are lucky that Trio is right down the street. If it weren't we would still travel on a regular basis to go. We would recommend for a date night, group of friends or a special occasion. Atmosphere is friendly, causal and warm."

"My friend has never treated herself to fine dining, so I took the initiative in doing it. She's still raving about it."

"Everyone enjoyed their food however due to the large party in the upper level of the restaurant the server disappeared for extended periods of time and the service was extremely slow. Additionally music was being played at a volume that was so loud that it was difficult to converse with the person in the next chair. The server would turn off the music to get orders etc. but would turn the volume back up when completed. It took us asking three different people to get the music down to a level were conversation was possible. Overall it seemed that there was not enough staff to cover the private party and the regular diners."

"This is a neighborhood favorite with fresh authentic Thai cuisine with beautiful presentations. But the pad Thai traditional dish was awful..too sweet, very brown, with no interesting tasty bits among the noodles...and the worst noodles, old, leathery, chewy...bad, a mistake among some other fine dishes. You could not take the otherwise excellent servers word for manageable gradients of spice hot....though promised by menu to be as desired."

"One of our favorite Fairmount spots. Food is consistently good, as is the service. My only complaint is that the veggie side and white rice served with the entrees really needs to be updated. Mix it up a bit!"

"Was told the duck was their specialty. It was crisp on thw outside, totally dry on the inside. Most of the food is Thai. Very bland. It was like a Thai restaurant for people who think they like authentic Thai, but really don't. Service was excellent. Prices were fine. Would not recommend based on food quality."

"Really enjoyed the meal and LOVED the dessert. Friendly and staff and good service. It is probably a perfect spot for dinner anytime if you live in the neighborhood. Parking was an absolute nightmare. Ended up 30 minutes late for our reservation trying to find a place to park. Leave extra, extra early if you plan to drive here."

"We went on a quiet Wednesday evening, and this was our first visit. There were maybe five or six other tables of diners upstairs. We ordered the beggar's pouches and a bacon-wrapped shrimp (a special) for appetizers. The pouches were pretty tasty, the shrimp equally so. My date ordered the green curry shrimp and really liked her entree. I ordered a special that I found to be mixed, a thai chili mahi mahi with crispy 'drunken noodles'. I was imaging something different, but the fish was good. I didn't care for the noodles. I would go back and try Trio, but personally, I'd likely stick to menu items to get a better idea of what they typically serve."

"We went to Trio for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner and even though every table, including 4 seaters was a table for 2 on this night, we were welcomed and not rushed and the waitstaff was so friendly and accommodating. They had a wonderful menu including entrees like heart-shaped crabcakes. Mmmm-delicious! It was everything we wanted, and we stayed to giggle over our champagne a bit when we were done."

"One of our favorite BYOB, neighborhood restaurants. Pleasant staff, decent food. My only complaint is that I think it's time to update the vegetable selection served with the entrees."

"We went to Trio for Valentine's Day and the ambiance and the food was great. My boyfriend got the fried duck and I got the chicken. Both were delicious! The waiter was great, the atmosphere was great, we would definitely go back soon!"
