"I am a server and a bartender,, as far as my experience with the staff at Basil it was bar-none one of the best ever. Our server Jennifer was helpful,knowledgeable, and accessible...a true pro! The presentation of our cocktails and entrees was gorgeous, fresh and tasty. I had the Korean Sizzling Steak, and it was amazing. I grew up eating Korean food and Basil's rendition of Bulgogee was amazing!!!!!! Thanks Basil!!! See you soon!!!"

"This was a good find. Food was above average, service was friendly, and a nice atmosphere to top it off. They pulled of having both Chinese and Thai cuisines on the same menu, and each regional dish was tailored to that regions styles. Kudos."

"We waited longer for our reservation than usual and it was a litte chaotic, but it was "Admin Assistant Day" which we hadn't considered when booking our business lunch. The food in this place is outstanding, very tasty curries, top notch chinese and asian favorites and good selection of sushi."

"My girlfriend and I went to dinner at 630 on a Saturday evening and had a great experience. The food was wonderful. I ordered the hot and sour soup as well as the Kung Pao Chicken with white rice. Both meals were served hot and the meal took less than 10 minutes to arrive at our table after ordering. The chicken was cooked perfectly as well as the rice. Highly recommended."

"I visited Basil Saturday evening with my husband. The bar staff were collectively so nice and welcoming that I can't wait to go back just to have a drink. The food was outstanding and the service prompt.
My only complaint...tried to order one of their desserts and they were out of bananas. How can you be out of bananas? Couldn't you just send someone out to buy some??
Overall though it was a very positive experience. We are looking forward to going back with some friends."

"Downtown Canton needs a restaurant with good food and Basil fits that description. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. The service was great and we were never without a full glass of water. The wine list is adequate but really overpriced! The menu is quite extensive, both for the sushi and the entrees. The sushi was fresh and tasty anall of the meals were very good. If one likes the sweet/spicy combination, the coconut noodles are wonderful! I would go back."

"On our first visit to Basil, we truly tested the staff! On what is the busiest night of the month, First Friday, we arrived with 3 separate reservations for 14 but only had 12 show. Our party was quickly accommodated at one table and the service was amazing! So attentive!!!
I was pleasantly surprised at the noise level in the old building. The owners obviously did their homework and utilized effective sound control methods which does not conflict with the décor which, by the way was impressive. The old building looks great! The expansive bar was beautiful!
But the food! We enjoyed a couple maki rolls, pad Thai, and General Taos'. All was served fresh and hot and possibly the best pad Thai in Canton. We'll be back!"

"Basil Asian Bistro was a great choice in the downtown Canton area. The menu provided a wide variety of selections from your normal Chinese favorites and even included sushi. The drinks were particularly interesting, expecially the martinis (I won't spoil the surprise). The prices were a little on the high side for this area but overall it was a good dining experience. Our waiter was Alex and he provided outstanding service. Definitely worth checking this place out."

"The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly. The only bad part for the night was having to wait 40 minutes for our table even though we had reservations. The staff did apologize numorous times and gave us a free round of drinks. The people before us were taking much longer at the table so it wasn't the restaurants fault. We will probably eat there again."

"I recently moved to the area from Chicago and have been looking for somewhere to get my sushi fix. Co-worker suggested this gem and so glad we checked it out. Had four different sushi rolls plus our table ordered three different entrees. Scallop roll was hands down the best and the garlic chicken was excellent.
Only negative drinks didn't measure up with the food quality.
Over all I give this place a 6.8 out of ten."

"Awesome food, had table in the bar , Chris provided great food and drink service, Ordered for the table the spicy wantons and sushi as apps, very good. Three people ordered the coconut spaghetti which was excellent with either choice of shrimp, chicken or pork or combo thereof. Ordered level 2 in spice/ hot. "We had a group of 4 people for lunch at 2:00 pm. We have been there several times at night and I would have to say the service is so much better at night. I was a little disappointed because I had been raving about Basil to my nephew from Columbus that is 35 yrs. old and had a lot of dining experience and was also a server at many restaurants and he was not impressed. :( He said the food was good but we had to wait several times for our server to come back around. I did give him a 20% tip out of the goodness of my heart but I hope he steps it up a little bit. On a positive note, my husband and I love Basil and will be returning in the evening!"

"I was looking forward to visiting this restaurant for the first time. Perhaps choosing Valentine's Day wasn't the best introduction. The restaurant was full, but there was no on waiting when we arrived for our reservation. We were seated and then proceeded to wait between 5-10 minutes for a server. She finally arrived and did an okay job through the meal. However, she brought the check and a requested take-out container as we finished our meal and never offered dessert. I would think that would be a no-brainer on Valentines' Day. The food was very tasty and the drink menu is imaginative. I will probably give the restaurant another chance."

"We had reservations at7:45. We did not get seated until 8:15. Once seated it took a while to get our drinks ordered and even longer for our meals. We ordered Sushi as an appetizer and it took a half hour to get it. After an hour we were wondering where our food was when the waiter came up and said he lost our order and he had to retake it. When I asked if there was a discount because of the wait, the waiter laughed at me and said "No". Then when I went up to the hostess and asked to speak to a manager, she said "I'll be right back". She went into the back and I never saw her again, nor did a manager come up to me at any point in the night. Truly two hours wasted."

"Excellent cuisine, Service was good and staff were attentive. Our waitress provided suggestions and assisted with our ordering. We tried a variety of dishes, sushi (ok, my one complaint, the wasabi could have been hotter. Not sure if wasn't fresh or if the preperation to make it into a cute little star piped from a pastry bag reduced the heat), house Fried rice as a special order, no peas, and the Sarachi - mild.
They had a large wine list that we didn't take advantage of so no comment there, but the bar was well populated as we were leaving. Overall, We had a fine meal and will certainly be back."
