Eat Shop - Plymouth

Welcome to Eat Shop.
Guess what? We are not a sports bar. We are also not a chain. Furthermore, we know our name is a little quirky and unexpected, but so are we. And it kinda grew on us.
Who are we? We are local. We are from the area and noticed how hard it was to get a decent glass of wine. We thought it might be nice to have a place where people could pop in and enjoy some swordfish tacos and a pint of local beer after a movie or grab the neighbors and sink into a big round booth with plates of pasta, and duck salad, maybe a steak or burger, if that is what you're feeling.
We want to be your watering hole, your meet-up, your hang out. We can't promise to be everything to everyone, we won't have trivia nights and probably won't fire up the old popcorn machine, but we will do our best to serve you fresh and modern American food and drinks that give you something to look forward to. We hope we kinda grow on you, too.

"The Eat Shop was hopping on Saturday night. I'm so happy to see a full restaurant. The food was wonderful. We thought they may have tweaked some of the dishes a bit with seasonal ingredients. It's nice to have a favorite refreshed now and then."

"Our server was very inattentive and seemed confused. Food was very slow in coming. I had the Lamb Pasta and it was very small for the $. I wasn't offered any paremsan to top it and when asked if we wanted pepper we were handed a Pepper mill. Classy. At the price point its very lacking. Great ourdoor seating area."

"Inattentive wait staff. One of our group never got his food. They burned the first one and said it woujld be 15 more minutes-so we just shared with him. Management tried to buy us a dessert. It also took 15 minutes Not a go back!!!! Maybe it was the waitresses first day, but she certainly had no idea how to treat a customer."

"The Eat Shop was a nice restaurant with a fun atmosphere. The food was okay, but nothing that blew my mind. Some of the dishes were too salty, some did not live up to the expectation & review of the server and then there was the one outlier meal that was absolutely fantastic. I will go back again to experience the outdoor seating area & firepits and give some other items on their menu a try."

"Our networking group met here on a Tuesday ($10 bottles of wine on Tuesday -- although the selection was a bit low -- so that was a good thing if you like basic American table wines). The food was adequate (typical American fare out of the Sysco truck it seemed, but then again, most places serve that kind of stuff nowadays). But the service was fabulous (Bobbi), the ambiance fun/trendy/bright/airy and the bar selections (other than the $10 wine) were great."

"The only explanation for the very slow service must be the unanticipated overflowing patio crowd. We waited at least 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. I never did get a glass of water. Sadly, the food is excellent, but not sure I'd go back."

"Weather was crummy, but it looks like a fun outdoor area. Food was very good, I tasted a couple of things. There were 8 of us, and we were seated at a large booth in the bar side, we only could talk to half of the group, because it was loud, a busy time of the night, and the booth was so big. Service was good."

"Fun menu selections in combinations that you don't see everywhere. Our table of 4 enjoyed 3 different salads - hot, steak and BLT, all delicious and really well prepared - and the house-made sausages. The service was a bit slow tonight (this is our 3rd visit), which we couldn't figure out since we ate at 5:30 before an event."

"This is certainly an improvement over the previous restaurants in this location. Food was good. I enjoyed their rigatoni with duck confit and mushrooms. It must have looked good because my wife kept taking bites. On previous visits to their bar I have found their bar menu items to be very good and worth the trip. I have heard mixed reviews since this restaurant has opened, but I think they are finally findinig their niche and are putting out good food at reasonable prices."

"Enjoyed this restaurant very much. It was our Easter dinner and we weren't sure if they would have a special menu or not. It turned out to be a non traditional Easter dinner but thoroughly enjoyed our Scallop entree and Lamb entree. We are anxious to go back. We have visitied the bar after a movie on a few occasions and have enjoyed the selection of appetizers."

"We had a good experience overall. They seemed to forget about us after we were seated but went out of their way to pay attention to us after we said something. The food was well made, but nothing really stood out. I wouldn't tell people to go out of their way to eat there, but if it's convenient they should stop in. I look forward to the outdoor season and will stop in for happy hour sometime to see how that is. The bar area looks very nice."

"When we went on Sunday evening, it was empty. It has a nice "vibe" and looks like it can accomodate almost any size of a group. The bar area was large and inviting, with an appropriate number of televisions to watch sporting events. The dining room is divided into two. There is a "chef's table" if you want to reserve that. The menu had some interesting items on it. The wings were "okay." The roast beef sandwich was quite good, but sloppy to eat. The chicken sandwich was good. Fries were great. Side salad was warm/hot, and not very flavorful. The Cowboy Burger was tasty, but the "regular" burger was bland."

"We arrived to noise in two dining areas that was extreme and overwhelming, including a loud screaming child. The host kindly seated us in the one quiet place in the entire restaurant- a booth in the corner of the bar. However, that put us in direct line with 3 TVs, not the ambience we were hoping for or had been led to expect. Beer list was v good, service just fine, sword fish fritters and calamari pretty good, but the main courses were Not up to the great food we were led to expect! The duck confit pasta was actually pretty bad, with flavors that didn't meld and duck that tasted old. Unappetizing and poor. Another diner's burger arrived less than luke warm. We will not go back."

"I have been there 3 times, and this was the first time the service was off. But our server admitted up front she was covering the bar and our section (on a Tuesday evening). The food was very good and the atmosphere was great with fun music playing in the background. Great spot for dinner out with girl friends. We loved the Tuesday night deal of 10 bottles of wine for $10."

"It is nice to have a new option in the western suburb. We went in for the Martinis and manicures. I highly suggest the black berry mojito! Our group enjoyed the pretzels and cheese, I enjoyed the steak sandwich and the hot fries. We also asked for a plate of the deep fried avacado that they serve on the hot salad and it was the best thing we tried!"

"This restaurant was underwhelming for lunch but looks like it could be an interesting happy hour place. The food service was slow and made it difficult to have a nice business lunch because we all keep checking our watches. Also, the food was decent, but not as good as expected from a restaurant week featured restaurant. I am going to give this restaurant another try for happy hour and/or dinner, but I definitely would not recommend for a lunch place."

"The food was good but my husband was super disappointed to leave hungry since the entree and dessert portions were much smaller than most places we go to in the area. I thought the portions were fine but I usually take home half my entree from other restaurants so I could see his point."

"Great food rescued our visit to Eat Shop. The service was very slow and the waitress dull. The place lacked ambiance and was not crowded so visiting with friends was easy. I imagine when it is crowded youwould have to shout to be heard. BUT the salmon was delicious."

"The food was surprising good. The restaurant week menu was Grilled Salmon with Canadian Bacon (I think) with chocolate mousse desert. You may have noticed that I said "I think". Being a foodie and Top Chef fan, I thought the front of the house would come and introduced the dish so that we know what we would be eating. It did not happen. The waiter sent over the main dish and came back to answer the question we asked about the butter or cheese. It is delicious with Canadian Bacon (I guessed that we had Canadian Bacon under the Salmon). When the hostess delivered the dessert, I finally asked her what the dessert was. She did not seem happy that I asked. She answered and ended with “Ok?”. I am still very excited about this place even so."

"Complete disappointment. Restaurant was empty except in the bar where we sat with others and watched the Oscars. Service was terrible (food was slow, only 1 wait person who was inattentive and called everyone "dear" and "hon". The food was poor quality and overpriced. I had a chicken sand which - the chicken was smaller than the bun (which was a standard grocery- store sized bun) and so overlooked and dry it was hard to chew. There was one slice of a Roma tomato on it (about the size of a quarter). Honestly, I've had better fast food than this."

"Friday fish and chips was excellent. Crispy and delicious cod. Highly recommend. Cheese fries were greasy and kind of icky. Wine selection is okay but cocktails are pretty tasty. Service was better than our last visit, though our waiter forgot to order a side and waters were frequently empty. The food is so good I wish they could get the service to be more consistent. Our waiter was very friendly though!"

"I took a small group to Eat Shop last Saturday evening and we were seated at a spacious table near the open kitchen. We had a great time with our guests, which was due to an attentive server and a non-rushed environment. Everyone was impressed with the quality and taste of our meals, particularly the scallops in an orange butter sauce. If you like seafood, get the scallops and you will be pleased. Having read a number of reviews which reference high prices and small portions, we found the pricing and portion sizes similar to a Crave or McCormick & Schmick’s. This isn't the sports bar which previously occupied the space, so don't expect that pricing or food. Its great to have a place like this in Plymouth and we will be back."

"Eat Shop is amazing! Think up-town quality and ambiance meets suburbs! We brought our kids there on Valentine's Day and they fit in just fine... but it would also be great for a date or small group. The service was outstanding and the food sooooo good. Flavorful, unique, yummy! Try it out!"

"We were looking forward to trying this new Plymouth restaurant. While the physical facility is great and service good, the food quality was a major disappointment...an extremely bland sandwich and tasteless and under-sized salad. We won't return unless it is just for a glass of wine or beer outdoors when warm weather is back."

"Was pleasanly surprised to dine on such fabulous food in the suburbs! From the tastey pineapple jalapeno marguarita, to the basic dinner salad and the salmon entree I was delighted. The salmon was perfectly prepared and large enough to share or take home. I cannot wait to return to try more menu items. Location is easy, service prompt. Only downside is the stark ambience and the too loud music. I do not understand why so many excellent restaurants bombard their patrons with blasting music."

"I thought the restaurant was nice, but it had a very limited menu and was expensive for lunch. The only thing I could find on the menu for under $10 was a soup/salad combo $8 - which really wasn't much food."

"The felt the portions were small for the price. The hamburgers seem to be about 1/3 lb. or less from $11.95 to $15.95. We liked the different burger combinations offered. We thought the bottled wine prices were also expensive compared to the same wines we've had at other restaurants. The fish tacos were very good; we liked the avocado puree and hot sauce. The $8 piece of velevet cake was skimpy, but we could see larger pieces of cake coming out of the kitchen, so apparently it was a consistency issue."

"The service was lacking. If servers that memorize orders, ensure that they are capable of remembering the order. We had 5 people and nobody received what they ordered. We all had various sandwiches (no special requests), yet it still took over an hour from order until food made it to the table. This place definitely needs to work the kinks out a bit more, and retrain both the waitstaff (it's ok to use a notepad, this place isn't 5-star) & the kitchen (two burgers ordered at our table were missing toppings...no BBQ sauce or bacon on the Cowboy Burger, no toppings whatsoever on a cheeseburger, including cheese). Also, if you are planning to talk, bring a megaphone...it's that loud"

"This was our first time at the restaurant, and we liked the food and original feel of the restaurant a lot.
When we arrived, they showed us to a table in the room with the kitchen, which was pretty empty of people and bare and the kitchen lights were harsh. The (evening) ambiance was so much better in the front room, that I was surprised that they stuck us in the back when we had a reservation. We ended up moving to the bar, despite all the TV's which were a little distracting if you didn't come for a bar atmosphere. Our waitress there wasn't very good with information about the food & non-alcoholic drink options, but then again she was probably more of a bartender.
We will be back, and will request seating in the front room.

"This rest. is near our home and had high hopes for it since there aren't any really good restaurants in Plymouth. The "look" of Eat Shop is very nice when you walk in but from there it went down hill all the way. The server was very crass and incompetent. Our orders didn't come out at the same time, our bottle of wine was delivered after the food came and the burger, fried chicken and buffalo burgers only moderately okay. I would suggest on the Baja Burger, not to place wet and clumped sprouts on it and the lemon aoli wasn't good either. In addition, the server took the bottle of wine in her hand with about 1/4 of it left and asked if we were done with it and she pointed at my plate for me to pick it up for her. Will not return to Eat Shop"

"This was our second time at the restaurant. We had a last minute date night and were able to get a 6 PM table. We were seated right by the front door which was VERY cold given that it was 0 out. There were plenty of open tables. We had calamari and hot fries as apps, the calamari was very nice, but very small portion. The fries were boring, and nothing more than shoe strings with cayenne pepper and a warm whipped hollandaise sauce that was gross. I got the sausage plate which had two nice sized links of sausage that were unfortunately very bland. Our waitress was very busy and we had to flag her down a few times. All in all, a nice local place, but underwhelming given its reputation."
