"It has been many years since I last dined at LP. Fortunately, my memories weren't too far off as our recent visit proved to be every bit as good. Service was attentive, the food was well prepared and done in a timely manner. Overall, I left wondering why it took so long between visits? We will not wait so long before our next visit."

"First time to LP. Caught it on tv and my mouth started to water. Very comfortable environment.
Susan was a wonderful server - very helpful with a cheery disposition.
I had the gator kebab and Rib Combo, with the Amber Ale. Everything was perfect.
Can't wait to visit again and try other things on the menu!"

"As Texans living in Edmonton, we really didn't know we could find great Cajun food so far away from Louisiana. This place is fantastic! I had the Crab Cakes entrée. Delicious! Not too bready...very crabby. My husband had the Steamboat Jambalaya and absolutely loved it. Lots of seafood to be found. I think my favorite part were the Hushpuppies. They were better than any hushpuppy that I've ever had (in TX and LA). We highly recommend this restaurant!"

"The food is always outstanding here. The seafood boudin is a one-of-a-kind, so yummy. But the service...awful. Server was completely disengaged. When one of our party said "no" to drinks, she walked away without considering the other two people. No smile, no nothing."

"All of the waitresses were extremely busy doing way to many things, and ours was barely able to have time too tend to our table. For example we waited for 20 minutes for her to make the drinks because no bartender was present and it took another 20 minutes after she took our plates before we were asked for desert. Furthermore it took forever our waters and coffee to be refilled and our birthday occasion mentioned in the online booking was forgotten about at our table while another table got a desert with a sparkler. Overall the food was decent but the service was extremely poor, and management should seriously evaluate how many servers are present."

"We went to Louisiana Purchase on a Monday night for their Jumbalaya special ($10) the food was good, spicy and plentiful. Our waitress was friendly and attentive but not obtrusive. They play lots of Louis Armstrong style jazz and certainly the price was outstanding. We tried their bread pudding with whiskey sauce for dessert - also very good. We will be going back to try other options on the menu that looked very tempting."

"We recently took a relative visiting from England there for his birthday. When I booked on OpenTable I had asked for a little birthday candle in his dessert and it all was taken care of perfectly. Our server was engaging and totally attentive to our needs. The food was wonderful - as always - no surprises on that score!!! We have been customers since they opened over 20 years ago and have never had a bad experience. Thanks to all for making our evening memorable."

"I ended up at LP becasue I needed to take a client out to lunch near the downtown area, so I asked a coworker for a suggestion.
I was more than pleasantly surprise. The food was served to us quickly, and was very tasty. The size of the meal was perfect for lunch.
I really only had two negatives. I found the food to be a bit pricey. We had two pops and two sandwiches, and the bill came to $40 (before tip). And the waitress needs some training. She lacked any personality, almost to the point of coming off as rude. Despite these two negatives, I will most certainly be going back in the very near future."

"We had an enjoyable relaxed dinner with friends celebrating a birthday. The food was good, the ambience was good, the prices were reasonable and the service was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and the dishes. It was a wonderful experience. We did find our table a bit small for 4 adults - but that was the only negative. All in all an enjoyable evening which was not rushed at all. We will return to Louisiana Purchase."

"After reading lots of positive reviews, the expectations for our meal were high. We found that the food was rather bland and the meats were not of the highest quality. The appetizer of gator was the best... I'd have an entire meal of that!
On the positive, the server was amazing and was just a delight!
Having travelled in the south I can honestly say the edmonton attempt just didnt cut it and unfortunitly I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon."

"Go ahead - go out on a limb and order the seafood sausages (called something Cajun-ish on the menu). Lovely, melt-in-your-mouth blend of savoury, sultry seafood wrapped up as sausage. Quite delightful, and refreshing change of pace. But actually - most anything on the menu is a treat! Great music (although not live ; < ), attentive serving and easy-peasy on-line reservations. Nice!"

"Had a great time on a Saturday night with good friends, live entertainment and excellent food. As usual I ordered the Satisfaction Plate as you can't go wrong with that. My wife ordered the Catfish and really enjoyed it and the evening special was also a hit at our table. After ordering our soups we felt the table we were at was a little noisy so we requested a move and had no problem doing so. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating. We often just stop by for a meal and never have a problem for two, but if there are more people I recommend a reservation. Highly recommend this whenever you need some authentic flavour and atmosphere, it felt almost like sitting in a restaurant in New Orleans."

"We have been going to this restaurant since it opened in 1989, and it is still outstanding! Wonderful food, great friendly service and a friendly, open ambiance. The baked scallops are superb; I get cravings for them, which is unfortunate, since we live an hour away from Edmonton and can't get them. Other notable dishes are the pecan-crusted pork medalions, the blackened fish, (make sure you ask for the potatoes for a side, they are thin-sliced and roasted, and are yummy), and for dessert we always get the flourless chocolate cake (which is celiac-friendly) because it is wonderful! I had the special which was trout, smashed potatoes, and grilled red pepper and green beans; all of it was superb, but the red peppers were esp. memorable."

"We went there to celebrate our anniversary and the amount of service that was given to us, was outstanding. We arrived an hour early and they accommodated us right away. We drove from Calgary to try this place as it was seen on "You Gotta Eat here" - Food Network. "Great food! competant service, knowlegable server and fantastic food. We appreciated the on-line reservation system and email reminder. (though I asked for a table by a wall and we were plunked in the middle of the restaurant). I had seafood chowder -- to die-for! The fish and seafood boudin was nice, especially with some tiger sauce. My friends enjoyed thier meals; three of us shared desert and appreciated the portioning before being brought to the table. It would have been perfect had our server slowed down a bit. Seems like plates were being yanked away too quickly; she even spoke like she was on speed, even though it was after the lunch rush. Still, the food was excellent. We will all recommend to colleagues and friends."

"From are arival to our departure the service was excellent , our waitress was young but well versed on the menu and other waitresses were also providing service without even asking. "My friends and i went to Louisiana Purchase to celebrate my birthday and we tried to keep it on the down low but it was mentioned once very briefly and it was never brought up again. At the end of the meal they waitress offered us dessert and a few of us accepted. when she brought out the desserts one of the owners followed her out and started singing happy birthday and got my whole table to start singing. He had a great voice to. It wasn't some cheezy song that most restaurants have. It was a nice change. That's why we love Louisiana Purchase so much. Cause its something you can always count on to impress. Thank You LP."

"We went here because they were featured on a list of 25 Bests in Edmonton for their crab cakes. Had a delicious shrimp bisque, but the crab cakes were a MAJOR let-down. No crispy coating and they were bland. The sauce is the most flavourful thing on the plate, but I'm paying for crab! And only one crab cake and some bland rice for $12, I was expecting the crab cake to be the star. My husband's catfish was okay, but my sampler dish of jumbalya and sausage n beans was bland. The jumbalya was soggy like it had been sitting all day, and we ate at 5pm! The best part was the shrimp bisque to start and it went downhill from there. DEFINITELY not worth the exaggerated prices."

"We came in for dinner around 6:30 on a Friday. It was empty when we got there, but full when we left by 8. It's very dark inside with red accents, woody furniture, and black and white photos on the wall. Service was great and they really know their stuff. The atmosphere is romantic with small tables and candles, but the music is fun and made up of New Orleans jazz. The cocktail menu didn't interest me, so I passed. The dinner menu is slightly limited, but the food is so flavourful and full of life that it makes up for the lack of selection. Entrees are mostly spicy, but worth it. There are tons of seafood offerings as well as BBQ and chicken. I recommend Dem Bones, Satisfaction Plate and Flourless Chocolate Cake."

"Me and my girl love trying new food, and this place did not disappoint, we started with the crab cakes...Amazing!! Then I had the catfish for my entree... WOW!! Such good food, good people..WE WILL BE BACK"

"Service was slow, and I thought the lady server wasn't friendly. The live music doesn't live up to the New Orleans kind of music. My group was expecting more like a bass jazz - a bit disappointing. Food is fair - nothing extraordinary. The crab cake could have been better."

"We were so excited to try this restaurant after watching it on "You gotta eat here" It was awesome! Great, tasty food, wonderful atmosphere. Will definitely return. Gave the food a 3 star because the appies were insanely over priced. The Alligator does not live up to the hype and you only get 1 skewer! Crab cakes are no different 2 little cakes and rice. Main course was sensational! Lots of flavors and a big full plate. Chocolate pecan pie was dry.

"First time going to louisiana purchase and would definalety do again and again..the atmosphere had a romatic feel to it. Would be a nice place for an intamite or even a relaxing day/evening out.I had the catfish w/rice and absouletly loved it! I have yet to try the appetizers,everything looked so good!I am very pleased with what this resturant has to offer and will recommend to my friends and family ;)"

"The food and service was terrible. The blacken catfish was not black and no flavor. The Jambalaya lacked flavor as well and had huge chucks of chicken that you needed to cut with a knife. Of the three who ordered this meal..not one of us liked it nor finished it. The desert was no better...The choc pecan pie the "pie" separated from the crust, and was clumpie and felt it had been in the fridge for days. Not worth the money we paid."

"Excellent choice saw this restraunt on eat street well worth the 2.5 hour drive to get there. Food was excellent as well was the ambiance. First time I ever ate alligator what a fantastic surprize. I would highly recommend eating here. As the matter of fact probaly head back in a couple of weeks."

"My boyfriend is from Mississippi. He's been missing the catfish and gumbo like crazy. I found this place online and we were not disappointed.
The "Delta Lady" is a great drink. Not too sweet.
Beer battered shrimp, big and juicy. The catfish was superb. Satisfaction plate had everything you would want with a big enough portion for lunch the
