"This restaurant has a good atmosphere & layout but seems to be suited more to dining & after hour social scene. The brunch menu had some breakfast items mixed with items like Mac & Cheese. My braised short rib hash - eggs done fine but the short rib though tender had no flavor. Seems like the idea to open for brunch was done as an after thought."

"The restaurant interior is done very well -- a well balanced, comfortable, but vibrant layout. Service was friendly, fun, effective. We loved the wine list and cocktail list. Everyone was delighted with their meals. All in all, a great restaurant experience, and high on our list for a return visit."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We had gnocchi for an appetizer that was really good. It was served over sautéed kale with a garlicky sauce. My husband had the salmon over spinach and edemame. It was a nice piece of fish cooked perfectly. I had a smoked Gouda Mac & cheese with bacon. It was to die for. We finished off with the fresh baked cookies & vanilla milkshake. It was really good. We loved our server Brooke. She was so kind and took such good care of us. We will go back!"

"We had a good experience with food and service. They had rock type music which seemed most unappropriate. The decor is half good and updated and the other half stuck in the 80's. Small changes could bring it up and more appealing."

"Oh, wow. Very yummy food at the SC in Petaluma. Enthusiastic and helpful (even if inexpert) service. Noise level through the roof. Free parking in the lot across the street. One star off food, for a tasty butterscotch pot de creme which had a grainy texture due to overheating eggs, but overall excellent quality and generous portions. Salmon en brodo over leeks and fresh spring peas was heavenly, served rare as specified. GF had a delicious hanger steak. Gouda/bacon mac & cheese with toasted breadcrumbs was the bomb. We will definitely be back."

"Loved my brunch! I ordered the veggie scramble with the potatoes - delicous!! The fresh brewed iced tea mixed with lemonade was very refreshing and worth the wait. Be sure to ask for the bread with honey butter, a true taste sensation. I love this place and can't wait to come back."

"Received a groupon for Social Club as gift since we just moved to Petaluma. Apparently the server decided once we mentioned it he was no longer interested in our table or our dining experience. Food was ok, nothing stood out from the risotto starter to the salmon and hanger steak dinner. Presentations were messy on the plate, not sure if that was intentional. I wanted to love the dessert, but stale peanut butter cookies with the pot de creme wasn't a good way to finish. Perhaps it was just because we had a groupon, but I won't be returning."

"The food was decent, but unfortunately does not compare to come of the other gems we have in Petaluma. The atmosphere was lively and the ambiance was good. I could see The Social Club being a good place to gather with a group of people for drinks. The problem came with the service. As we were seated the waiter immediately complained to us how busy they were, never cracked a smile, and seemed to forget about us several times. I had to go get myself a condiment from the bar once when the waiter had failed to bring it to the table after asking. The dinner dragged on for 2 hours, everything took a really long time. They were out of steak, which is what three of us wanted to order, so none of us had our first choice and had to settle."

"I went to The Social Club based on a recent newspaper review and found it to be just as the reviewer described. Their signature dish is fried chicken and it was delicious. My friends and I shared (and loved) a butterscotch pot de creme for dessert and it was wonderful. Overall a good dining experience."

"I was truly impressed by The Social Club. We enjoyed wonderful service, not only from our gracious server, but also from the other employees at the restaurant. Additionally, all three of us loved what we ordered (steak, salmon, pork chop). My husband's grandmother is almost 89 and I made a request in my reservation regarding her mobility. They were not only very accommodating, but she also had a wonderful time. I think my husband could eat the cookies/milkshake dessert every night."

"We liked the restaurant very much and thought the atmosphere was fun. We thought it was well designed and unique. We enjoyed our dinners and I had the fish special which was delicious. Our server was very nice and likable as were the bussers and hostess. It was our first time at this new restaurant and we definitely will return soon."

"It's kind of a hidden gem. I was pleased to see allot of different age groups present. Very energetic, hip vibe, but very inclusive. The food was very good. Pretty much the usual suspects as far as the menu items, but they were all done well. The service was a bit surely so I would say that that was the only drawback. I will go again."

"People seemed to be having a good time. Noise level was a bit loud for me. It was busy the night I went with three others. There was not enough wait staff and our sever was very stretched and not very focused. Food was good. I had the chicken and mashed potatoes. Friends had the burger and the halibut. Both dishes were good but not necessarily good enough to overcome the service. This the fourth time I have been to The Social Club and I can't say that I would come back anytime soon."

"We made a last minute reservation for Valentine's dinner. We were a bit nervious because it was a holiday and it's a fairly new restaraunt. Wow, did we pick the right place! The food was excellent and the service was good. We started with the crab salad which was very good. The waittress recommended a glass of wine which was good (not excellent.) I had the short ribs and my husband had the NY steak. He seemed to like the NY state but the short ribs were divine. He kept trying to swipe my food. We finished off with chocolate chip cookies and a milk shake. Yummy! As far as ambience is concerned, it's nice enough. I wouldn't call it romantic but we had a quiet table and we both enjoyed ourself."

Cocktails are inconsistent, they don't have a lot listed on their menu but those that they do have are good, however; if you ask for something classic like a Negroni it's not done well. The bar manager?/male bartender short and muscular seriously needs an attitude adjustment. He has no customer service ability."

"I don't understand the great reviews for this place. My husband and I were excited to try a new great restaurant in Petaluma. The service was terrible. Our order was taken pretty quickly but then we waited for 45 minutes before our food came (had to ask for bread - it was still frozen in the center) . Overdressed, wilted arugala killed what would have otherwise been a good starter. Then the entrees were a huge disappointment. My husband had the fried chicken - it had a thick doughy exterior and the breast was a bit dried out. He said the thigh was inedible. The mashed potatoes were salty with a weirdly sweet gravy. I had the petrale sole - not very good. Served with mashed potatoes that tasted like they came out of a box. Won't be back."

"I had a kobe burger and my friend had the oysters and mussles. The food was excellent. We each got wine which was very good. The server was nothing out of the ordinary but he did a good job. My only disappointment was it was my friend's birthday and they did nothing for it. But besides that I liked the place a lot and I would go back."

I am a resident in Petaluma and heard lots of mixed reviews about The Social Club.
I work at a 4 star restaurant in Marin and my standards are pretty high.
My salmon was perfectly cooked - but flavor of the bed of beans - boring-flat.
Endive Salad was amazing. Great and interesting mix of flavors.
My friend said the Skirt Steak was the best she ever had and she dines a the best resturants in SF and Marin. Dessert was the apple crumble - it was good but not over the top delicious. Our server was warm and delightful and very focused on her service to us.
We loved the atmosphere since all three of us were raised in San Francisco. Loved the raised booth. On a 1 - 10 scale-I would give it an 7 with a bullet going up!! Thanks"

"The service was a bit slow and the food was just slightly above average. However, The Social Club has a really cool vibe and the cocktails are fantastic. With the slow service and nothing that stuck out on the menu, we ended up just getting a few cocktails and appetizers (which ended up being a little more than fifty bucks). I would go back for sure because the drinks were so good."

"If it wasnt for the food, I don't know if I would have liked it at all. The food was creative and well executed (including timely from the time we ordered it to when it arrived at the table.) Unfortunately my first introduction to the place was with a sour looking hostess who seemed to not like her job too much. She just looked bored, annoyed and wanted nothing to do with seating me and my friendsThat is never a good start. I really cant make a decision if I liked my server or not. He was unattentive and not super friendly in the beginning, and never gave us his name. But once we started ordering a ton of stuff, he was much more attentive and friendly. So, was he just busy at first or did he not care until he realized we were spending money"

"We almost did not go because of the previous reviews but we are glad we gave it a try. The management must be reding the reviews because we found the service excellent (compared to the previous poor reviews). We tried the Mac and cheese and beet salad for starter which was very good.
For entrees (there were 4 of us), we had the fried chicken which was over seasoned and overlooked, the hanger steak was good, the salmon was okay and the Kobe hamburger was very good. So, overall the food was okay but not outstanding. I think it's worth giving it a try but with other restaurants like Cucina and Central Market with excellent food, we probably would not be going back. Again, we had excellent service which was a pleasant surprise ."
