"I waiting 4 weeks to get the perfect time for a Saturday reservation, I had the great pleasure to enjoy a fabulous 5 course menu. The service was impeccable, the innovation and flavors were outstanding. The only weak point was the "6th" course of deserts. After such wondrous textures and flavors, the pastries and deserts were, to say the least, disappointing, and not nearly the standard they have set for the other 5 courses.
I was concerned when I came into the restaurant for the noise level, at the sister restaurant, but once inside the Pass (after going through the "hidden" wall, the ambiance exploded with quiet, sophisticated dining. If a foodie, The Pass will meet your desires for flavors and innovative presentation."

"This is my third time at the Pass and each time there were some changes to the menu and everything is always delicious and beautiful. One of my favorite is the vegetable flavored "dipping dot" dish...I wish you guys would bring that back! Service is always excellent and each time I've been there, either Seth or Terrance would stop by the table once to bring out a dish. I think that's very nice of them to do that! Can't wait to try the summer menu!"

"I took my boyfriend who is a big foodie here for his birthday. We were both completely blown away. The Pass has been very thoughtful with every little detail which makes the entire experience truly unique. We both decided at the end of dinner (3.5 hours later) that we would come back every time they change the menu! Also on top of the decor and food being great, the staff was so wonderful. Everyone that works there obviously has a lot of pride in what they do and carries tones of food and beverage knowledge. To say the least we were both very impressed."

"It's challenging for restaurants to do well with food, service, and atmosphere all at once - The Pass exceeds expectations in all three. It's delightful to find places that strike me as special. I don't recommend this restaurant for diners who prefer traditional fare, don't enjoy a wide variety of foods, or have multiple allergies (they did ask about restrictions, but given the situation - set menu courses - it could be tricky to manage). They asked about timing restrictions; we had none and were looking for a relaxing pace - our dining experience lasted 2.5 hours (fit us perfectly). I won't have the space to do the restaurant justice. The courses were imaginative, creative, flavorful, enjoyable. Several particularly delicious."

"The Pass is full of knowledgeable and attentive wait staff and kitchen chefs and sous chefs. The newest culinary 'tricks of the trade' are used to clever and tasty effect in very creative presentations. There is a choice between and 5 and an 8 course set menu. In order to get the full cleverness and range of tastes I would recommend the 8 courses. Small courses but they are extremely filling--one waddles out the door at the end of the evening. Only caveat---many of the courses seemed a little too high in salt content; the chefs need to rethink the 'drumbeat of sodium use'."

"Did not live up to all the hype. Extremely pricey and with all of the other great restaurant options in Houston, I will not be returning. One of the few places in Houston that requires a cc to get a reservation and then they have zero flexibility should your plans change. In fact they will charge your cc $75.
The Somalia had zero personality and thought he was better than everyone else."

"This place was fantastic. Some of the courses, I could live without but there were some like the potato bread and duck were awesome. The service here is unbelievable. They pay attention to your every need. This is fine dining so dress for the occasion....and price is a bit steep. Presentation on dishes were great. The only thing I'd have to comment negatively on is the length of dinner. We were there for 3.5 hours! My boyfriend got very sleepy and waiting on each course to come out wasn't very exciting anymore."

"We enjoyed The Pass. The food was whimsical and interesting, but not exceptional. Of our eight course meal, two courses were very good, one was extraordinary and the others were not worth mentioning (for taste--all the of courses get an A+ for presentation). We were underwhelmed by the sommelier, but enchanted with of the chefs that delivered and explained the food. But, who is training all the waiters to address diners as "we"? We have a plural second person pronoun, it is "you".
Overall, I would say well worth at least one visit. Just the experience of walking into the restaurant through an apparently solid wall is worth it. But, I don't think we will be back."

"You will not find another place like this in Houston right now. The food is unique, the service is attentive without being overbearing, and the leisurely pace with which you are served is exquisite. Go for the 8-course fixed meal, but I'd recommend selecting your own drinks or bottle of wine in place of the pairings, unless you're really into that sort of thing. I like that once you've selected the meal, you don't have anything else to do but sit back and enjoy the company, the conversation, and the atmosphere. Recommended for couples, less so for larger groups, partly because of the expense, and also recommended for those that aren't afraid to try new and (very) unique foodie items that will challenge your palate."

"A real culinary experience, can't stress that enough, Unfortunately, I felt like I was being subjected to a food experiment/art class. There are so many complex ingredients in each dish that I was put off trying to understand what I was eating. Of the 8 dishes on my tasting menu, 4 were good to outstanding, 4 were not impressive to the point I'm wondering which 4 represent the soul of this place. Presentation was outstanding though on all. The service was exceptional, maybe overall THE BEST I've experienced in a very long time in terms of the cooperative energy, knowledge and passion of the staff. Only nit I have is that bar staff (before we were seated) had chilled the red wine in ice bath to the point where it was pretty much ruined."

"Last weekend our party of three dined on the 8 course menu. Overall the menu items were well-presented and tasted good. The "caviar" dish was especially good. We thought the eggplant dish was not as tasty as other items.tasty. The care in preparation was obvious and notable. The service was outstanding. Wines were paired with two of our menus. Each of us tasted the selections. The Bekaa Valley white was the only mediocre wine served, in our opinion. One of us opted for the spirits pairings. They were exceptionally good--well thought out and matched well with each dish, a better choice than the wines in that diner's opinion. In short, an fine experience, mirroring the current trend around the world for tasting menus."

"The Pass and Provisions was a unique dining experience. There is not another restaurant like this in Houston. From the moment you walk in the door and are led by the hostess to the Pass, you know you are in for something special. On the evening we dined there, there was a menu with two options: a five course dinner or an eight course dinner. We chose the five course dinner and were more than full by the night's end. I highly suggest ordering the beverage pairing with each course. The sommelier really chose the perfect pairings for each course. The service was spectacular and each person who attended to our table was personable, professional, and knowledgeable about the food. The star of the evening was each delicious course. Stunning!"

"This was a terrible experience in regards to taste. The food was flat. What's ironic though, this was the most beautiful food that I've seen. The chefs put a great deal of effort into presentation whilst leaving one daydreaming of Underbelly's great flavor explosions. The food was just bland. We did have great service, knowledgable staff, and a great glass of champagne."

"The food was really good, however, the dishes that we had were not the one's shown in the fixed price menu, which was very disappointing. They didn't even tell us about the changes until we asked at the end of the meal. Their answer was "some times we run out of a dish and just replace it". I think that if this is the case they should let the clients know about the change!

"We both really enjoyed our time at the Pass. It was a wonderful experience All the dishes were unique, tasted good and the presentation was marvelous We had the A tasting menu. My favorites were the ham and eggs - cracklings and caviar, as well as the eggplant carpaccio. My wife's were ham and eggs plus the Bread course which had wonderful onions. We agreed thar the oyster in the 1st course was by far the best oyster we had ever eaten. Service was great, efficient and knowledgable. Not a place for steak and potato people. A place for interesting and adventurous folks. Not that expensive, either. My cocktail had chartreuse in it and was quite good. We also had drinks outside while waiting to be seated. The daily punch was tasty."

"The concept of the restaurant was legit. Servers and sommeliers very knowledgeable. We opted for the 5 course with wine pairing which was plenty for us. We somewhat considered ourselves "foodies" before dining here then decided maybe not. Bone marrow, tiny mushrooms sticking out of our food, and various other unknown ingredients really were not our cup of tea. Maybe it was our fault for not researching a little more ahead of time. We could have eaten 2 great meals at Eddie V's for what we paid, and went home and had popcorn after our dinner. If you aren't having to pay and just want to try some new and different food then give it a shot. If you are perfectly satisfied having Mexican food or sushi on a Friday or Saturday night, skip."

"This restaurant is over-hyped. The food was uninspiring and the wine pairings were very mediocre to poor. Service was excellent but could not make up for the dinner itself. As an aside, the room is relatively small and one table was overly loud and somewhat intrusive. Overall the experience was much less than expected."

"The pass was an amazing food experience. The service was great, we felt like we were the only diners in the restaurant. The food was delicious and creative, truly a culinary adventure. The menu comes in 5 and 8 course tasting menu varieties, and the whole meal is impeccably well composed and harmonious.

"If you are looking for, not only a unique culinary experience but also a dining experience, eat at The Pass. This is the only restaurant of this kind in Houston. The food was interesting and certainly memorable, and the wine and beverage pairings were also unique. You will not leave hungry eating off this tasting menu. When comparing Oxheart to The Pass, both have good food, both are unique and memorable, but The Pass is an entire dining experience, service and all. If you want something a little less formal, go to Oxheart. If you are OK spending more money, dressing up and leaving stuffed, go to The Pass."

"What can I say about the Pass? It's the perfect meal out when your top priority is the food and service...you cannot get better of either anywhere else in Houston. We went a few weeks after opening and this was our second trip. New dishes we had this time included the Ham and Eggs caviar service, lamb and pea/bean/eggplant, fernet chocolate and donuts...and were spectacular. No need to go into dish by dish detail...just google that and get ready to start salivating. I wish I could eat there once every week. We're leaving town in the near future and we're going to miss Pass and Uchi more than anything (not just restaurant) in town."

"We had much anticipated this night for weeks and could not wait for the night to begin! The service was outstanding and we loved watching the chefs at "The Pass". The added touch of a chef explaining the dish to you enhanced the dining experience. Although very playful and creative, the dishes were good, but nothing was really mindblowing making you want to come back again and again. We felt like the "Ham & Eggs" and "Cheese" course were the best of the night. The chefs used lots of modern techniques some of which seemed unnecessary, others hit the mark. Overall, it was a nice night, cool concept, but seemed a bit lacking with the overall taste."
