"We've been here a few times and overall a good spot. The menu changes somewhat and our favorites aren't on the menu anymore. Out of the 4 of us, 2 dinners were very good, one good and one fair. Wine list could definitely be upgraded."

"Hostess sat us promptly at our reserved time. The waitstaff were very knowledgeable and attentive. The menu was pretty traditional pub food, with a few nice exceptions like Peruvian chicken and local cheeses. The beer and wine list was extensive. Our only reservation was the noise level, which was high, possibly due to two large parties in the vicinity."

"This was our second meal at the Republic, and since we enjoyed the first time so much we brought friends with us this time. We requested the upper level, since we had eaten on the porch the first time. The second level has some nice, comfortable booths and great atmosphere, but it did get noisy due to its being open and above the bar area. The food was great, and service fine. When we go back, I think I will ask for one of the front rooms on the first level. Everyone had a great time. There are TVs in the bar area and people could sit at tables or counter/bar type seating. They offer the most fantastic onion soup served over a mushroom/potato hash - the best thing to start off a great meal."

"I really like this restaurant - the food is outstanding - the service was attentive without being overly pushing. The variety of selection with a twist is nice and the dessert selection has been expanded since I was last there - you must try the banana bread pudding - it is amazing."

"We are long time Bloomfield residents and it is just great to have American cuisine back in town! The food was really superb - where else can you find steak tartare these days? The cream soup was gourmet and the prices were within budget and the service was cordial and quick. The only problem I had was when they turned the A/C on and the vent was right over me, temperature control is important. I will highly recommend this place to other townies. We WILL be back!"

"I love the interior decor of this hot and relatively new entry into the competitive Hartford area pub/restaurant market. Superb service combines with a cool and varied menu and a comprehensive offering of beer and wine to foster an excellent all-round experience. "The food was fantastic up to the dessert. We ordered the cheese cake pops. They were too lemony and fell off the stick too easily. However, our oyster appetizer and our main meals were fantastic. "On our first visit to the Republic, we had a great meal. Interesting menu with some "hi-tech" options as well as old standards. Burgers are over the top. Was disappointed that they would not substitute a few greens for the cole slaw. My husband loved the Peruvian chicken. Interesting martini list. Noise level is high but our request for a quiet table was honored ( well, it's all relative). Very interesting building. Parking situation inadequate. This will become one of our standards although I would not go without a reservation."

"So glad this place has come to the area. Stepping inside, you feel like you've been transported away to a vibrant, energetic hot spot in some city far away - certainly not central Bloomfield. Great ambiance in the main, vaulted dining room, with an open kitchen concept and seating layered throughout the space. Food was delicious and well executed. They're not afraid to do simple items very well - deviled eggs and bacon wrapped dates, for example. Many of us had burgers, which were well-prepared with good attention to having a better than average bun. Get the brussel sprouts! These used to be my least favorite vegetable, but when they're roasted perfectly and tossed with all sorts of carmelized onions, bacon, and a vinaigrette - terrific."

"Republic is a Gastro Pub, so don't go expecting super-healthy fare. Go to eat well and have a good time. Randi, our waitress, was a lot of fun, knows the food and wine list, and gets high marks from us. I started with Clams Casino, which were fine, and then had Helmar's Cod on Randi's recommendation. I'm not a Cod fan but liked it and would have it again. I have had the Coq au vin on a previous visit, as well as the Confit. Didn't know what either was, but "went for it". Now I am a fan. Both were outstanding. My wife and I each had a Beet and Endive salad, mine with gorg and hers without; excellent. My wife had the Fish and Chips, and again, it was fine. There are plenty of wine choices, by the glass or bottle. It just all works!"

"Republic has a very ecclectic menu with a variety of choices of small and big plates. I am a big raw oyster guy, and Republic had the one of the most tasty and fresh selections I have had. My buddy had the ribs which I tasted and were excellent. My wife was very satisfied with the fish and chips, and the onion soup was unique and to die for. The only negative was that the waitress did not fill water glasses or check to see whether we wanted after dinner drinks as the 6 of us were chatting for quite some time after the meal was over."

"We tried Republic for the first time on a Friday night to celebrate my husband's birthday. Our OpenTable reservation was ready for us even though we were a little early, and the staff at Republic paid attention to the details of the "special requests" I added when making the reservation online. We had a nice romantic table for two overlooking the whole restaurant. Even though the restaurant was packed with bar patrons, large parties, and small, our server was attentive, and took good care of us. We had a well paced meal, with a couple of small plates, some drinks and sandwiches for our meal. The food was all very good, and we would recommend it to friends, and will dine there again too."

"Kind of disappointed after 2 excellent visits, this time the food was OK. Frist times presentation was over the top, with the food just as exceptional. This time there was nothing special about the presentation or the food. In fact, my coq au vin was super-rich, almost hard to eat. I hope it was an off night because I have been very excited about this new restaurant and recommending it to many."

"valentine's day... crowded but well managed...reservation was right on time. very pleasant evening. food was very good - as a vegetarian i was able to find items from the small plates / apps / salads and flat breads (with that being said, could always use something more from thae entress than an pasta dish that can be modified....) i would definately go back again. i would definately go back again."

"You need to have a selection for TOO noisy. Energetic just doesn't describe the noise level. Uncomfortable energetic. The food was mediocre. The portions were ok, enough to feel like you just ate but not enough for leftovers. The oysters didn't seem fresh, maybe that is a seasonal thing. The cut of meat my husband order was not what he received. The mussels I ordered were over powered by the sauce substituted from the menu description. The wait staff was superb ."

"We were not expecting a loud, pub like atmosphere. It was very crowded and very noisy. It is an attractive place with an interesting menu. The food was very good but the portions were very small for the price."

"Because we are always looking for restaurants in the West Hartford area, Republic was a great find. The server was very attentive, knowledgable and helpful. Great beer/wine list!
I just wish I had known that Bloomfield was only 15 minutes outside of West Hartford; because I didn't know that, and Bloomfield's restaurants don't appear in the W. Hartford listings, we only found out about Republic thanks to a suggestion by a friend. Otherwise we would have certainly headed there sooner."

"Republic is a great place for burgers and beers! We have not tried other dishes yet, but hope to very soon! We recently went here for a birthday dinner with a large group (party of 10) and had a very nice time. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, and the food was great- as always! Love the wings and burgers, as well as, the atmosphere and service we receive when we dine here. Will definitely be going back!"

"We were in town visiting from the Bay Area and were looking for a solid eatery. Instead we got a spectacular one. Really strong menu, everything was extremely well done, great (and generous) drinks (an over the rim pour always gets extra points from me!)-- all around a great experience, and delightfully unexpected. I grew up in the area and am impressed by how much has everything is changed, especially the local dining scent (from non-existent to worthy of a special trip). Republic was terrific, and worth the short dive to Bloomfield."

"Always great food and a great atmosphere. Some of the best food for the price in the Hartford area, and definitely worth the trip to Bloomfield. The menu offers a lot of unique items and great twists on the classics, and the execution is fantastic (some of the best handmade pasta I've ever had).
Be warned: MAKE RESERVATIONS if you plan to get there any time around 6-9. Learned the hard way a few weeks ago, but been back a few times since then with reservations and it was well worth it."

"I have dined at Republic several times now, including my bachelorette and brothers birthday, and the food along with my experience just keeps getting better and better!
