"Had a wonderful meal there before an evening at the theater! We started off with salads - the butter leaf with strawberries and a Ceasar. Our main course we both chose the Chicken Marsala with crimini mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and spinach- it was FANTASTIC! The Marsala mushroom sauce would be awesome on anything, it was so tasty. We ended the meal by sharing a tiramisu. The service was very good and attentive. There was a large group near-by, and they were really enjoying themselves, so it was a little "energetic" but they were not rude - just a little loud.
I thank the staff and chefs of Puccini & Pinetti, and I WILL DEFINITELY be back again soon!

"I have been to this restaurant, and always enjoy the food and service. There was one disappointment this time. I ordered an affogato for dessert (espresso poured over ice cream) the presentation was pitiful. Ice cream was put into a clear "diner" type mug. When the wittier poured the espresso over , the mug was barely one third full. I am not complaining about the amount . It was a adequate portion, but it sure looked silly in that giant mug."

"Expected more but got less! This restaurant was recommended by the hotel's concierge. While the food was okay (not that good but tolerable), the service was not that good except for the very nice maitre'd. Also, very noisy but not in a good way (not energetic as the options above provided when rating the place) - Just a lot of noise! I also expected great deserts (thinking Italian) but, again, disappointing. The Tiramisu was really not a tiramisu and had too much cocoa to mask all the other missing ingredients. Anyway, I would certainly not recommend the place."

"As always this was a lovely experience. From the greeting at the front door to all the attention we received during the meal, it was perfect. We come often and always ask for the section Tonya Foster is working that evening. She is the best wait person we have ever had and she just adds to the over all perfect evening.

"I took a group of 12 here for dinner this week. Very good Italian food (with large portions) and friendly staff. Our reservation was for 7:00pm but the table was not ready until 7:15pm (previous group had not left), so the restaurant provided us with champagne at no charge, very nice. I would recommend this restaurant, up to the size of our group, but not larger. Dinner with drinks and tip came to a very affordable $600."

"We were a party of four mature people and we had a reservation...they tried to seat us at a table near the front door with uncomfortable high seats at a high table. We objected and were seated at a table farther back that was appropriate height but the attitude of the person seating us was less than gracious. The place is very noisy and the food is fairly mediocre, at least my dish was...our waiter was great though."

"Have been going to this place for years, mainly because it's convenient to many of the theaters, and I had forgotten the last time I went that it had started to go down hill. The food is average at best and the total bill was more than I wanted to spend for "just ok" food. The waitress was delightful, but I sense that this place has gone corporate and lost whatever it once had. My spinach salad was ok but was actually just too big for an appetizer salad. My lasagne was ok, but wasn't much better than good cafeteria food. And my tiramisu was fine, but I've had much better. Puccini and Pinetti needs a real overhaul - perhaps that Restaurant Impossible guy from the food network needs to come in and make some major changes."

"Excellent authentic Italian food and as good as most of what I had in Italy. The service was great and the waiter was very helpful in making some choices. A perfect place for lunch or dinner before a theater date. Easy walk to the Golden Gate theater and theaters on Geary St. The portions were large. Great lunch special with a choice of salad, entree and dessert with a terrific $3 glass of house wine."

"We have been going to P and P for years. Our dining experience this time, was not as positive. They were having a kitchen issue with heat, so they opened a side door, right by our table, which blew in cold air, and made our dining experience chilly. We kept asking them, to please close the door, it was cold, and they would, and then they would open it again, in a few minutes. Guess they were having a hard time pleasing their customers, and, or, the kitchen help. We also ordered one of our favorite desserts, which came very runny. It was supposed to take 10 minutes to cook, and they brought it much earlier, so it was under done. Our waiter was very good though."

"My husband and I were looking for a light dinner. We shared a Caesar Salad and Margharita Pizza (Salami & Kalamata Olives added). We absolutely loved it. The price and the quantity of food was perfect. Their menu has items that we will return to enjoy! The service was excellent!!"
