"Great food. Excellent tapas. Service was some the best I've ever had. We had ceviche, 2 kinds of shrimp, and the best was a top sirloin in this creamy peppercorn sauce of yummy goodness."

"My wife and I had never heard of this restaurant. We were so very pleasantly surprised with the entire experience. From the ambience to the excellent service provided by Sean. The entire experience was so amazing and unexpected. The ambience was so calm and delightful. Wine list was superb. The meals were well prepared , cooked to specification and had a beautiful presentation. We will definitely return ."

"A large group of 12 landed here after a family event. The service was terrific, the food was very good and the atmosphere was pleasant on a rather cool dreary Sunday evening. Seafood was fresh and well prepared; scallop small plate was very good and not overcooked (However, it’s not really 4 scallops it’s two cut in half. But, good and sizable, none-the-less) ; grouper ceviche was fresh and full of citrus and mango flavor. Seafood paella for one person, easily fed two of us! The crabcake is HUGE and has very little filler. Blue cheese sauce on the meatballs had a nice light touch. Steaks were cooked ask ordered and everyone raved about the cheesy risotto. Overall, clean plates and bug smiles. We would definitely return!"

"We are regular out-of-towners who hadn't tried Don Quixotes until this trip. Glad we did! We've had Portuguese and Spanish food elsewhere and were wondering what it would mean there in Fernandina. Well, it meant fresh food, wonderful flavors, no overdone sauces - call it Florida Fresh or Nouveau Mediterranean. Quite a find. Food was outstanding. Service was great. Really really good meal for us all. Try this wonderful gem. I hope you'll be as impressed as we were."

"We ate here on a busy Friday night, but having made a reservation on OpenTable, we were seated immediately. Our waiter Joshua was helpful, prompt, and quite funny. I had an excellent Estrella beer, the surf and turf, which included an excellent tender juicy filet, cooked perfectly; and a lobster tail, also tender and not chewy. My wife had the seafood trio, and was cooked perfectly. We finished with a nice chocolote cake. In all, excellent service and food. We loved it, and would definitely return. The other diners seemed to enjoy their experience too, and there were some interesting dishes I saw."

"Under new management and new cook. We loved the old management and cook . This used to be our favorite restaurant. We will not go back. It is a shame. The old menu was much better. I wish them luck I think they will need it."

"A little pricey but a fairly good menu selection. Under new management. Waiter and Manager were very attentive. All diners seemed to be enjoying the food and atmosphere."

"No longer a Spanish menu. Too bad, with Neto there it was fantastic. Now, just another restaurant. American cuisine, portions very nice but on a Friday night when the town was packed it was mostly empty. Apparently a split with owners caused the Spanish side of the place to vacate. Too bad, it was exceptional. Now ok, but nothing special. The dining room is really very nice and the service was fine. Just not what we anticipated."

"We had a miserable experience. Please see the time line below of events: 30 min after seating (A.S.) offered to order drinks and given menus 45 min A.S. ordered our dinner 50-60 min A.S. our drinks showed up in 2 intervals 75 min A.S. our tiny salads showed up 100 min A.S. we were told by a 19 year old "manager" that our dinners would be out shortly. Nothing showed up, we were given countless excuses for the delay. Several tables, seated after us, received their dinners and desserts. 120- 130 min A.S. we got up, paid our bill for drinks and wine and left. I am a frequent OpenTable user, and have never had such a terrible experience at any restaurant on your service. I wouldn't be surprised to see this restaurant on Kitchen Nightmare"

"When they first opened they had a great menu. Food was delicious. Last week they completely changed the menu, and now it's almost totally American; crab cakes, veal oscar, grouper etc. Why call it Don Quixote's if you only have a few Spanish dishes? We ordered the paella and it was luke warm and not very flavorful."

"We visited Don Quixote's for the third time in three weeks. The new ownership is making great strides in making this restaurant a standout on this paradise island. I believe we must have had a different chef than from the previous week. Our guest had the rib eye. It was tender and well flavored. However it was not cooked the medium-rare it was ordered. As with a lot of restaurants, the temperature is well down no matter how you request it to be prepared. The risotto was, at best, served lukewarm. However, overall, the meal, taste and presentation was real good. Our guest enjoyed the food and the experience. Again, the new management's presence is obvious and I believe it will bring improvements. I recommend this restaurant ."

"Was shocked at second night of eating at this Resturant that they had no bread to serve,The previous night we were served really great bread and it was obvious on Sunday evening they were not ready for the dinner crowd. They finally showed up with bread half way through the meal.We noticed that the lady mgr. wasn't on duty thus things seem to be a little lax. Really enjoyed Andrew the waiter and other wait staff, they worked as a team. Food was great but no excuse for lack of bread."

"It is described as seafood and Tapas. But there is a lot of beef (not good) and no Tapas. The tuna was listed as seared, but it was served totally cooked."

"OOOOH, this is so sad. This was one of the finest new gems on Amelia Island. There's been a kitchen and management change along with a totally different menu. The kitchen is disorganized and no longer Spanish cuisine. A dinner was ordered but big adjustments were made and they never informed the guests to see if they would like to keep the order or make other changes. An order for a med-rare NYsteak arrived as a well done rib eye. This was corrected but with much were delay. One med-rare NY Strip arrived late and it was ice cold in the center like it had been precooked and left in the refrigerator???? NOT GOOD.Fix the kitchen."

"We were disappointed in the menu. It is advertised as a Tapas Bar and it is not. Very few items available and just average for taste and presentation. We checked other items coming out and they were ok but nothing great. Again we were looking for Tapas. We sent one back because it just did not look like what we wanted ot expected."

"As a frequent guest of Don Quixote's, I have seldom not been impressed with their exhaustible array of offerings. I was surprised to find they have already changed menus. However, after close inspection, I believe they have wisely condensed their menu, resulting in an easy to read and easy to choose format. I am sure the kitchen team is equally pleased with the reduced number of entree's, tapas etc. Very seldom does one report everything was superb in a restaurant. Our party of three enjoyed the Medallion tenderloin and the Seafood Trio. Both were prepared perfectly and tasted delicious. The inclusive soup and salads were equally tasty. The bottle of wine was nicely presented and served at the correct temperature. A great experience!"

"The restaurant was quite elegant, but a little pricey. They only serve "top shelf" cocktails which they have to get from the Peppers next door, so the wait is long for you drinks and the price was very steep. The food was good, but not really spectacular. Server was very pleasant and service was overall good."

"Good tapas, but very rich/heavy, with small portions, and (in my opinion as a student), high prices for what it is. However, the waiter was very nice and it was an enjoyable dinner."

"I frequent this restaurant quite often and continue to do so. All of us in our party ordered steaks. The young man who seated us said the special was a surf and turf and included sirloin and shrimp. The waitress corrected him and said it was prime rib and shrimp. The special arrived being new york strip and shrimp! All steak entree's were so tough we could not chew even a few bites. The manager comped us the entree's without our demanding him to do so. Our tapas dishes were excellent and filling. I have found their seafood dishes are delightful and the presentation is awesome. I just wouldn't recommend their steaks. Don Quixote is still one of the better and more interesting restaurants on the Island."

"Having enjoyed dining here before, my wife and I opted for this restaurant for Valentine’s Day. Reservations and a table location request were made through Open Table on January 19. The Valentine dinner was very disappointing! We were not seated in the table area requested and when I asked why, I was told by the hostess that my chosen table had been reserved a week in advance by others. When I countered with a copy of my January 19 reservation, I just received a shrug as a response. Nevertheless, we decided to make do. So as I faced the kitchen and open hallway, we ordered a number of dishes and some wine. From what we received, it was clear the restaurant was ready to make a profit on the Valentine Day crowd by reducing the portion siz"
