"This was our fourth dining experience at the Ryland Inn and it just keeps getting better! Each of our meals were prepared perfectly, well seasoned and with delicious pairing of sauces and vegetables. The Pea Salad is simple but so fresh with the slightess amount of dressing. You must have a dessert or two - fabulous selection of home made confections that melt in your mouth. The staff is very friendly and professional. Crudos to Chef Anthony Bucco for fine cuisine and a memorable dining experience. I can't wait to go back!"

"This was our second time here with friends and it was superb once again. Chefs amuse of cherry soup was a great way to start. For appetizers our group had the baby lettuce salad with local strawberries, Ryland Inn pea salad and the potatoe leek soup. Everyone loved their food. For entrees we had the rockfish with sugar snap peas and mushrooms, the organic salmon and the Berkshire pork loin. All of them were absolutely fabulous! The pork was the best anyone ever had. We also had a wonderful bottle of Spanish Tempranillo that everyone really enjoyed. The wine steward gave us some background on the wine - he defiinitely knew his stuff. For dessert we had the peanut butter mousse and the lemon cheesecakes - perfect way to end the meal."

"The overall experience was not what I had hoped for. This was a special night for my wife and I and I was not wowed, which was what I would have expected for the total price. The gnoccihi appetizer was very small and the desert presentation of peanut butter mousse was unappealing. The salmon was cooked very weel, but it lacked anything special. My wife thought the Tile fish was very good."

"I awaited the reopening with anticipation. My more recent experience was very mixed. Drinks were yummy. The server could not remember the amuse bouche. The menu makes good use of local and seasonal foods, but descriptions are vague in places. My appetizer had four gnocchi. This an acceptable size on a tasting menu but insufficient for an appy. The best part was the sweet potato sauce. Salad was normal. Tilefish entree was perfectly cooked and flavorful with a crispy edge. Berkshire pork tenderloin looked small but appeared perfectly cooked. Sides of creamed spinach and roasted fingerling potatoes were also well seasoned and surprisingly ample, but at $9 each they should be. The dessert menu was too weird and we went home and ate ice cream."

"Chef Anthony Bucco is a fabulous new addition to the new Ryland Inn. Those who remember the original wonderful restaurant of years ago won't be disappointed by the wonderful renovations, the beautiful new outdoor patio and the fabulous service and food.

"Loved the way the Ryland Inn has been restored from it's previous days of glory. The staff was very attentive and not stuffy at all. In fact, love the personality of our waiter and the sommelier. Menu was inspired by local, seasonal ingredients and the execution of the food was fantastic. My wife had the salmon, which we both said was the best piece of salmon that we've ever had. It was cooked perfectly (medium rare in the the middle and a nice crisp on the outside). I had the tile fish, which was served over a some fantastic oyster mushrooms. Overall, we both felt this was the highest value for the money spent out of all the upscale dining establishments in Somerset/Hunterdon counties! We'll definitely be back!"

"We were very pleased with the re-opening of The Ryland Inn. The restaurant is gorgeous. We ate on the patio and the atmosphere was wonderful. The food was outstanding, done to perfection. We were also impressed that the staff went to the trouble of printing cards to wish us a happy 24th anniversary, which were attached to our menus. Nice touch!"

"Recently went to Ryland & enjoyed it. My husband had steak (he enjoyed it very much) and I had the braised short ribs (delicious). The portions are on the smaller side, but I was prepared for that after having read other reviews. The sides that came with my meal were very tasty, but the portions were very small. For me personally, the portion of the meat was great, the flavor & quality made it worth it. The desserts were delicious too.We also enjoyed the chef's amuse-bouche of and the petit fours that arrived at our table after dessert. The staff was very attentive. For our personal taste, the atmosphere was nice but a little stuffy. We were the youngest guests there besides a few small children with families. Overall, a good experience."

"The Pea Salad was OK - pea shoots were too long and it was awkward to eat.
All the main courses were outstanding, we were impressed.
The dessert were terrible, I think a kindergartener could do better. The Peanut Butter Mousse was just PB squeezed out of a tube.
The strawberry cream had this terrible cookie made with olive oil, that they called cake, seriously? It s a shame because a great main menu is ruined by an unimpressive dessert list.

They still have a lot of work left to restore the old building. They need to take care of those bathrooms, not the cleanest I have seen.

"From the second we entered the service was exceptional until halfway through our meal where it came to a halt. Our waiter did not show up again until we had finished our meal and we waited quite awhile for him to bring dessert menu. Since he never checked on us during meal, we we unable to order more drinks. Food was very good, but portions were small, especially with the appetizers. Spanish octopus appetizer was very tender. Seared yellow fin tuna was excellent, done perfectly. Desserts were fun and delicious , Lemon cheesecake and peanut butter mousse. Would go back for special occasion only due to the portion size compared to cost."

"My husband and I had an excellent dinner to celebrate my birthday on a Saturday night. The food was outstanding; nice selection, good portion size and wonderfully prepared. "I took my husband for his birthday recently, and the Ryland Inn did not disappoint! Our meal was fabulous, and the staff was very helpful and attentive. We are big foodies and I would definitely go again. We also love good wine, and while the wine list was quite extensive, we did find it difficult to find a reasonably priced bottle. It is quite loud, but the overall atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We will definitely be back."

"Beautiful renovation, lovely ambiance, however, the staff hovered around and listened to every word we said. The food, WHAT LITTLE WAS SERVED, was very tasty, except for my pea salad (likened to eating weeds dug up from my back yard, and they forgot to put the cheese on it) and my husband's strip steak (had ZERO flavor). The tilefish was excellent, but they do not give big enough portions. I was also served the wrong entree (which should NEVER happen in a restaurant of this caliber). They did comp my meal and pea salad which, frankly, I fully expected them to do. The prices are outrageous for the amount of food you are served. I have heard from others that you leave hungry, I have to agree. I will not return."

"Had dinner here for the first time, two couples, because of the review from NJ monthly was expecting a great deal. Restaurant is pretty, but we were not impressed by anything. we spent over $600. and felt that we were repeatedly ignored by the wait staff. The only good thing about the place was the food and even that wasn't extraordinary enough for all the hype and price. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't go back"

"This is a difficult review to write. I had been to the Ryland Inn many times before its recent renovation and had wonderful, memorable meals there. This meal couldn't have been less memorable, other than the cost. The dishes we had were fair at best. Some too salty, others bland. The desert was the best part of the meal. For the over $400.00 spent, the two of us felt the value was nonexistent. I can't imagine returning there for another dinner."

"Ok, The Ryland Inn is back. Will it ever achieve it's national fame again? Who cares. The legacy of farm-to-table is strong, but it's taken full root in New Jersey. It's a very strong offering in a pastoral region not known for its glut of high-end restaurants. Chef Bucco did a great job at Stage Left while he was there, so it's great to have him in a new venue with new owners. Can't wait to see what unfolds over the next year!"

"Our 2nd visit & although quite good, service was not as efficient as our previous visit.
Water glasses were not refilled quickly & plates sat on our table far too long before they were cleared.
If I'm paying $4.00 for a cup of coffee, the waiter should have returned and asked me if I wanted a refill...that never happened."

"Beautiful place - lovely setting - could be a gem but the food was absolutely not great beet salad was undercooked and dressing vinegary. Tuna and pork belly good - but very little tuna and the fat of the pork belly overwhelmed the meal It's such a shame to see that they put so much money into the facility - and then didn't carry thru with in the kitchen. Portions are ridiculously small and quality is not even close to 4 star - let alone 5. I'm so sorry they haven't pulled this off because it could be spectacular - but it isn't even close right now. We live 10 minutes away - and were initially so excited - but they have a lot of work to do with the food."

"Everything was excellent. My wife and I went here for our anniversary. We had the tasting menu with accompanying wine. All dishes were interesting and enjoyable and they weren't light on the wine. Plenty to enjoy the dish with.
This is our first time since they re-opened. We enjoyed it very much."

"We returned to the new Ryland Inn with great expectations. We had hoped for a quiet, romantic dinner for our wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, Ryland Inn put a very large, noisy group in the same dining area. In addition the service was erratic. We were served our appetizers before we had finished cocktails. Then we were served our entrees without being offered a wine choice. We left without dessert/coffee because we just needed to get away from the noise. Very disappointing - we will not return. The food itself did not match the experience of the first Ryland Inn nor of the Perryville Inn at its peak."

"We are so delighted that Ryland Inn has reopened. The experience made us realize how much we missed it! Natural light from the skylights and nicely spaced tables create a wonderful dining environment. Attentive, friendly staff too. The 7-course Degustation menu was a great way to enjoy the talents of the chef. Salmon, scallops, rib-eye steak, etc...all inventively balanced with ingredients to enhance flavors. A perfect spot destination for any celebration."

"Make this your destination even if you must drive an hour or more, from Princeton in my case. Arriving on a whim on a solo business trip, after having been served impeccably and effortlessly entertained and educated for two hours by the maestros at the bar and in the kitchen, only after leaving did I read the NJ magazine four star review posted to their web site. It's not hype. Spread the word."

"I loved the whole experience! The composition of beet salad was wonderful! The lamb was delicious-some of the best lamb I have ever been served!
