Origin Liberty was born out of Chef Claudio Aprile's desire to create a spontaneous, high energy restaurant that serves ingredients at the height of their season. Our large, naturally-lit space is great for all occasions that demand fresh, creative food, and first-rate service.
"I really enjoyed my dinner at Origin Liberty but I felt the wine list and cocktail list could have been much more thought out. We were still looking at the 'Winter' cocktail list and it was 22 degrees outside. It really should have been updated for Spring. Otherwise, I thought the meal was fun to eat and interesting."

"We had a nice selection of diffent small plates, all with tasty & interesting flavours. The hint in another Open Table review about slowing down the service helped some, as the plates tend to come all at once unless you specify which are starters and which are mains."

"Brunch menu is unique, which is good but for the price of $13 - $17, they should give us some toasts as I was still hungry. We wanted to get some dessert but it's not available at that time. No wonder they're not very busy."

"Nice place! Went for brunch, the restaurant music was way too high.... I had the corned beef hash with poached eggs and smoked cheddar. Good but too heavy and hollandaise was cold."

"Much bigger than the King Street location. Food is basically the same. This location has a tostada bar instead of a mozzarella bar. Food is just as good. Good flavours. Service was excellent."

"We loved the space. The menu was very appealing to us, with lot's of choices. We did find a number of the dishes to be over-salted (the duck and the burata with honey especially). The pace was a bit hectic too with plates coming at us too fast. Overall, the room is lovely, our server was very good, and the meal was enjoyable. We don't live near Liberty Village, and it was a pain to get there for our 6:30 p.m. reservation (not necessary as the place was quite quiet at that time) with lot's of traffic, so I don't think we will return."

"1) We were seated at the front of the restaurant near the front doors, so cold air was not fun. But eventually were moved further into the restaurant. 2) Throughout the night we noticed staff bringing the food to us too fast and we couldn't finish things in time, as the table wouldn't have fit everything. 3) While eating dessert (and having been there for just an hour), they told us that they had another party coming in 4-minutes and that we needed to leave. And without us asking, they brought the bill and our coats from check-in. Our drinks were still on the table and half-way done. We moved to the bar area and noticed that Origin had booked a LARGER party and used our previous table to combine with others. Was our money not as good???"

"Good: Great service. Nice atmosphere and decor, clean private washrooms.
Bad: Very cold in the restaurant - had to eat with my coat on. Took some of the waitress recommendations. Fries - average overcooked tasteless fries with overcooked chunks of sausage & standard chipotle mayo type sauce. Tuna salad - dressing was good but salad was swimming in it, pear did not go well (personal opinion), the rice crispies seemed to serve no purpose (tasteless) - trying too hard. Oysters were fantastic. Duck entree portion too small - ok taste. Entree fish was too salty, yet bland at the same time, the side potatoes were overcooked. Both desserts strange and with salty flavours. Def pass on food next time."

"We ordered the Bangcakes and the corned beef hash. Both were very good. The Bangcakes were deemed a must-try by Toronto Life and we enjoyed it. The coconut cream added a nice touch. The amount of caramel became too much at the end but we could've dipped our pancakes into it less. The sweet potato hash was flavorful and not as heavy as a traditional potato hash. The eggs Benedict and hollandaise were done well and not too heavy. The natural light and ambiance for brunch was refreshing and helped a lot for taking photos. Our server was friendly, attentive and came around at the right times."

"I have been to the original Origin and Origin Liberty for dinner a number of times, but this was my first time trying their brunch menu. I went with friends visiting from London, England, and we all really enjoyed our meals and the service was very good - albeit maybe a little too attentive. There was a TFC game on Saturday at 2pm so the server may have been rushing a little, assuming that we were trying to get out in time to make it to the game. We weren't, so we just sat a little longer catching up even after we got our bill. But frankly, I'd rather have a more attentive server than one we can never find! In addition to the good service, the food was great too!"

"Went Saturday night for my brothers birthday....small group 5 people, but once again the food, service and atmosphere was fantastic! There was another group of about 30 people for another birthday and I prepared myself for a lack of service, and to my surprise still received outstanding service! We will be back again!!"

"What a great evening with friends. The food at Origin was outstanding. We were all impressed and everyone was energetic to share the tastes they were experiencing. Looking at the menu was hard to determine how much to actually order for oneself and had to ask our server (2-3 dishes for a male). Be prepared the food comes out when ready so if you are not sharing you may be eating in front of your friends. Overall the experience was so good and will be going back again."

"It was our daughter's birthday, & having only mentioned it at the time of making our reservation, we were very impressed that your staff remembered. The food was not only very interestingly put together, but remarkably tasty, and was enjoyed by our entire group of 8 people. Definitely a place that we would highly recommend, and return to in the near future. An overall memorable experience. Just as a side, our daughter lives in the area, so she will definitely be telling her neighbours about what she felt has been a "well kept secret" Sandra Healey"

"We went to try the Origin brunch. Loved the ambience, but the food was just OK. Too greasy for my taste and the pancakes were not my favourite. The pineapple topping was great, the pancake itself wasnt that good. We generally love their dinner, but were disappointed with the brunch."

"The food was excellent. The service was not fantastic and included delivering the wrong food twice and spilling water on our cell phone. Further, went for a Valantine's Day prix fix menu with Flowers. The bill for the flowers was double the quoted price. All in all, the food is worth the experience but the prices are too high to justify the subpar service."

"Visited the place on a Friday night. Bad weather so they were slow....and so was the service. Very disappointed with the majority of the dishes we ordered. The menu looked great, but the dishes did not deliver. Duck tacos - meat was nice, but tonnes of sauce that didn't compliment. Raw oysters were a huge disappointment. The dressing they added to the oysters, plus radishes was sooo wrong. Calamari was good, but should be for $18 for a few pieces. Tuna and beef hand roll was a miss. My friend had the lobster tostadas that was covered in a mayo like sauce. Chicken mole was ok. This restaurant is definitely a pass and too expensive for what is delivered."

"A Great variety of delicious menu items & a great atmosphere. The portions were a very fair size for the price, unlike many other trendy hot spots, at origin you get more than what you pay for. Great experience overall!!"

"The 'usuals' were outstanding - spanish fries, beet salad, and curry shrimp. The chicken wings were 'so so' and the pork and squash dumplings were very good but a little light for the order. Desserts not as good as previously (bring back the key lime!).
Service was timely and efficient.
Always an adventure worth having!"
