"Setting and style are unique and pleasant. Seated inside at the front window, the view of the "front porch" was neat. If oysters had been in season, that would have been the choice. Enjoyed them so much on an earlier visit. The 2 entree choices were swordfish rated as good and a generous portion; the chicken entree was unremarkable. Pineapple cake dessert to share was delicious. Waiter was attentive enough but offered no water refill. Service was fairly speedy.
On an earlier occasion, enjoyed lunch a lot more."

"The food was OK. I've requested a low sodium dish and it was made almost to perfection. I will recommend a friend to PASTURE Restaurant, but with Reservations.My friend who was with me started to think that because we were African -Americans, perhaps, we were not going to be served. When the waitress came to take our order, she did not apologize. We ate and we left."

"This is a unique place and I frankly didn't like it the first time a went. It was early on and I felt like all they had then were small plates and I left starving. But this time everything was great. The food, wine, atmosphere and serve were all great. Glad I gave it another try!"

"Using only local ingredients this is how trendy is done right. My Vegan dishes (hummus platter and kale citrus salad) were prepared with as much care as was the steak tartare with raw quail egg. Food was creative and delicious.
I was so impressed that we went back a second time in two days, but when the food was over salted for our palate the staff and manager made us feel at ease to send the order back for a re-cook.

"What a great place! The hostess was very friendly and seated us immediately. I liked how fresh the room felt. Clean snd airy with fresh flowers and touches of teal. Wait staff was friendly and knowledgable and had no problem answering all our questions. One of the owners delivered our food and checked back to see how we liked it. We loved it! Delicious steak tartar, salad with kale and pecans was so good. We can't wait it go back for more and another Surry! Best drink in Richmond!"

"I would give this a 3.5 star rating if possible. The experience was better than average, but not great. The food was good, but not great. We ordered a good variety of food from the menu, probably 8 to 10 different items. I was surprised that there wasnt alot of seasoning in the dishes we ordered. The food was good, but there's want any one dish where I felt "WOW check THIS out!"
The wait staff was very good. The drinks were very good. Alot of interesting boubon based drinks, including the "Polaski" which was a shot of whiskey with a pickle juice chaser. The deserts were very good. The food was just ok/good."

"What a fantastic experience! The food, all around, was fresh, innovative yet simple and refined. The staff and owner were more than welcoming. As new parents we don't get a chance to get out much and as lovers of great food its nice to find a place that serves delicious food without the pretentious feeling. We will definitely come back again for entrees since we bit off more than we could chew with the small plates and snacks."

"My gripe is usually service but our waitress was fantastic! She turned decent food into a very good meal/experience. I thought my meat was a little dry but it was delicious. My date's fish was fantastic.
The layout is better suited for lunch so don't expect to come hear for a romantic dinner, but overall a fun place, good food, and amazing staff."

"Overall excellent, creative entres and small plates, along with an interesting and thorough bar. My wife and I both enjoyed wonderful dishes, she the oyster stew and ham croquettes and I the pork belly special, however the steak entree ordered by our dining partners arrived at the table cold and had to be returned to the kitchen twice before it was a suitable temperature. Their dessert was comped to offset any inconvenience on their part. The desserts are delicious, by the way.
The service was exemplary and and the atmosphere is stimulating. We are looking forward to returning to our latest dining discovery!"

"We went for a late lunch and had a very simple meal. The chips and dip that we had were great! We both had sandwiches that were very tasty. I would have rated the food higher because we will likely return but I just don't usually give very good ratings for casual lunch foods. "The staff was friendly and were not about rushing you. The decor is simple but clean. I liked the use of the single hanging lights wrapped loosely. The glasses are canning jars. The food is not complicated and can please any palette. But, presentation was thoughtful... not dumped onto your plate. The only complaint is the entrance door is heavy and it closes hard every time it is used. Overall, I would go back to try other dishes, especially the tuna steak with fingerling potatoes, yum!!"

"Not my first visit, but it was my friend's first...we ordered the brussel sprouts as an appetizer...we must have been the first of the evening, because most of it was cold (which it is not supposed to be). We ordered--she ordered the sirloin, medium rare, I ordered the sirloin, medium..Her sirloin arrived correctly, and I was served the seared Tuna. Huh? yup...didn't order it, but I started to eat it as the clock was ticking and we had Swan Lake tickets...the waiter appeared, said the server had brought the wrong food (really?), and offered to ALSO send the sirloin, which I refused..he took off the wine (one glass each) off our bill as an 'oops, sorry', which was a nice gesture and appreciated. Will I go back, again? Most likely."

"Party of 4 for my husbands birthday on a Monday night. Food was excellent. As a Manhattan transplant I was delighted by the food. I don't like to go to the same restaurant twice but I'd go back. Fried okra and kale salad were great. Pork special was excellent and a great bargain. South Boston dessert and candy bar also very good. The atmosphere seemed kind of random at first but we ended up loving it. It was lively but not loud and we were able to have great conversation. Kids weren't with us but i would take my kids -tables were spacious"

"Our dinner experience at Pasture this past Saturday was wonderful. Because we went with another couple and decided to go the tapas route we had the fortune of trying many dishes. Every single dish was amazing. Service was excellent; bar tenders and wait staff. We look forward to going back."
