"If you love lobster you MUST order their famous Lobster Toscano dish - - the lightly bread crumbed lobster in a yummy garlic sauce (just the right amount, it's not overwhelming) is reason enough to become a repeat customer - - it's served either in the shell or out of the shell."

"We were 3 couples for a Sat. nite dinner. We had requested a downstairs table in our notes to the rest, but were given a table upstairs. We did not make a fuss. Our table was ready when we arrived. The lobster special is always delicious. The veal t bone was also very good. We had some of the homemade ice cream for desert. No one left hungry or unhappy!"

"We eat hear often. The food is always very good. They always have this one lobster special, which is the only thing my husband will get here. He raves about it. I try everything on the menu as I am not a lobster fan. Everything is always fresh and very tasty. I never had a bad meal. The Napoleon is their signature desert. I am not a Napoleon fan, but this Napoleon is worth a try. The service is usually very good."

"This was our first time at this restaurant, and it was Easter Sunday. We read the reviews and everybody raved about hos delicious the food is here. When I stopped to ask a stranger for directions, he knew it immediately and added "and the food is delicious". We agreed that the food is very good here. The service was also very good. On the downside, we felt that the dining room was a little cramped, and restaurant overall was small and had that tight squeeze feel to it. Wouldn't recommend for those who enjoy a lot of elbow room when dining."

"I have been to Il Toscano many times before and once again, was not disappointed. Their lobster special, which they take out of the shell upon request, is Delicious! Garlicky and light. I share it each time because the pieces of lobster meat are large. My husband had the pork chops which were juicy and tasty. Appetizers and desserts were equally good."

"We had been to Il Toscano the week before on a Wednesday, and it was an excellent dining experience all around. Service, food, atmosphere. This week on a Thursday, was rushed and very noisy. Hence my downgrading to "good". The sausage gnocchi and mushroom ravioli appetizers were exceptional. The skate fish entree was fair. The Branzino, very good. In the future, we'll stick to Tuesday and Wednesdays for a fine dining experience. When spending $200 for two people I don't want to leave feeling harried."

"A wonderful restaurant right next to the LIRR (not that you'd know once you are inside). BEST lasagne I've had anywhere (and that includes Italy)! Fantastic wine list and superb service."

"The staff was very welcoming and accommodating when it came to dietary restrictions. We wanted for nothing and yet they were not hovering. The food was fabulous and the menue was varied as always. The setting is very comfortable and low key. It is alittle pricey but you definitely get what you pay for! We will definitely go back again. I have been there on Sundays and it seems to be more of a family place on that day and is a little more noisy with the commotion. The maitre d' is extremely gracious and pleasant!"

"Haven't been to Il Toscano in a while, so I was pleased to see their excellent standards haven't waned. It was a Wednesday night so the dining room was only moderately loud. The service was up to their usual high standards, and the food was outstanding. My generous martini arrived promptly. The arugula salad with brie was fresh and tasty; the special pork chop was done to perfection. With no room to spare, we still managed to share a very fine layered pastry. The staff did not rush us through our meal courses or to leave. Perfection. Will be back soon."

"Decor is a bit dated, and service could be a bit more friendly and less uptight. Food is exceptional though, and keeps me coming back. Many of our friends refuse to frequent Il Toscano because it's just food and no fun."

"Food was fair. But ambiance and decor was awful. Add to thAt, a very long wait for everyone so bar area was jammed. I don't mind waiting 10-15 minutes but we waited 45, which is unacceptable. They chalk it up to popularity, I credit overbooking. Decor is very dated and dingy. Not worth the wait."

"Our food was delicious as always but service was only so so. I had to constantly ask to have my water glass refilled and when I asked for herbal tea after dinner they brought me several types of teas which were not Lipton but were also NOT herbal."
