Rye and Thyme

We are proud to bring you Rye & Thyme, an American Tavern, in the space formerly occupied by The Monument Grill in the historic Wood Block Building of 1890 in downtown Leominster. The atmosphere at Rye & Thyme has all the charm of an old Tavern and features a new Raw Bar with a rotating selection of the freshest shellfish from local waters. Rye & Thyme also features a wood grill that will be our kitchen"s signature piece of cooking equipment. Wood Fired Pizzas, Steaks, Seafood, Chops and Burgers with the added flavor of smoke and wood. At Rye & Thyme we are pleased to focus on "American Made" Spirits with a particular focus on American Whiskey with an extensive list of Bourbon and Rye. Add in a craft approach to our featured cocktails to showcase our spirits, an all American wine and beer list to highlight the quality and craftsmanship being produced in the United States and you have a true American Tavern.

"We went here for Mother's day brunch. We waited quite a while for our food and when it finally came out, most of it was cold. The portions were on the small side and I left there still a little hungry. I was excited for the stuffed french toast that I ordered, but was disappointed. The bread was thin and not what I was expecting based on the menu description. I've never been there besides for brunch, so I can't comment on how their dinner menu is, but my parents have been for dinner and said it's great."

"If your looking for an escape from the fast pace of life, a place where you can talk for nearly an hour uninterrupted then Rye and Thyme is for you. We went to Rye and Thyme on Saturday night. It was fairly busy with very few open tables. The server was quick to take a drink and dinner order and that was good. Seventy minutes later our food came. The food itself was serviceable but not memorable. I had the Blackened Delmonico which was nothing special, the lady had a chicken dish with hints of lemon pledge. Given this is Leominster, and the lack of quality restaurants this place will last longer than it should."

"We were not seated at our reservation time. We were told by the bartender not to even hope for a table as the kitchen was slammed. (Those were his words) The service was terrible… slow, moody, and inattentive. The oysters and shrimp were pretty good though they looked like aesthetic rejects. The salads were about three times too big and were over dressed with croutons and cheese. The entrees were deplorable!!!
I had the tuna steak and while it looked properly cooked (rare), the outside was tough and dry. No one else liked their entrees and we finished eating with a lot of food left on plates. The whole experience took 2.5 hours and we ended up paying $240. I could pay that in Boston or Concord and enjoy my experience.

"This was our second time here. We enjoy all of the Niche Group restaurants. The oysters & littlenecks were fresh & tender. The vinegar sauces are a nice departure from traditional ketchup & horseradish. The Angry Caesar is huge! I'm glad only one of us ordered a salad as there was more than enough to share. My wife ordered the tuna and it was cooked perfectly -- seared on the outside and nice and rare on the inside. I couldn't say the same for my Delmonico steak, though. I ordered medium rare and there was not a trace of pink. This was rectified quickly with a fresh steak properly cooked and several apologies. Portions are more than ample and we had no room for dessert."

"much better than the monument grille which used to be there... it's sort of like "english pub" meets american fare...
We all ordered the fish and chips - it was a huge piece of fish, but the breading was overwhelming... Dad was impressed with the amount of craft beers, some from far away too. wait staff was very very good.
the oysters on the half shell were very fresh, and the angry Ceasar Salad was very good, but they should have mentioned about the actual anchovies... they do add a nice flavor, but don't need them there looking at me lol
all in all, it's maybe the nicest place to eat in Leominster. I still like the salads at Christina's better, so, I'd say it's about a tie with them :-)"

"We went there as a recommendation of our son and his fiance. The food was good; the appetizer was a little much- duck pate wtih potatoe skins. It was a heavy appetizer. Overall, the drinks and food were very good- the waitress was a little dry. We would reccommend to family and friends and we are eagerly waiting to return."

"A night out with friends & NO KIDS! We had a scrumptious meal at Rye & Thyme, all four of us ordered different meals and were very impressed with the portion size, presentation and taste. The ambiance was fun but romantic. We would all go back, it was a very relaxing experience. The drink menu was very extensive the only problem was that it TOOK a VERY LONG time to get the drinks, however it was very busy. The community needs more upscale dinning like Rye & Thyme!"

"We booked a reservation for two at the bar on a Friday night and were pleased to get a seat at the bar when we arrived. Our bartender was courteous and offered us menus for drinks, beer and wine right away. We each ordered a specialty drink and enjoyed them at the start. The main reason that we went was for the oyster bar-$1/$2 per oyster-we ordered 2 dozen! They were fabulous! We also ordered a fish and chips dinner to start, the batter was light, the skinny fries perfect and the coleslaw was a creamy recipe, slightly different than the norm, but yummy just the same. We then ordered a beer to accompany our meal and our other bartender was very knowledgable and helpful as we made our selection. We were very full and content!"

"Our 7:30 reservation that was made online the day prior unfortunately had the same wait time as a walk-in.. The restaurant was very nice with great ambience and lighting. Our waitress was nice, knew the specials, but didn't know much about the beer selection. I ordered a Dogfish 60 Minute IPA on draught which came out completely flat, no carbonation. I asked for Lagunita's in a bottle as a replacement, but was given another Dogfish which was slightly better, but still flat. To start, the Waldorf Salad was excellent. For meals we had a Vegetable Pizza and Salmon & Dill Pasta. The pizza was run of the mill. The pasta sauce was overwhelming. I don't think I'll be making the drive from Worcester to go back again. I had high hopes!"

"Rye and Thyme took over the space of the Monumental Grill so I had expectations that it would meet or exceed the old restaurant. The menu was very limited, and the restaurant was not as fancy as I expected. The waitress wore blue jeans, was very nice but again, not fancy. Overall it was a good experience but I'd not return since the menu was limited and didn't live up to expectations."

"I love the relaxed feel of this place - dark, small and cozy – like a comfortable living room. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The RT Oysters on the half shell were excellent and what a deal. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable"

"Restaurant week deal was a good value. Regular menu pricing is a bit steep for the quantity served. More bread offered would have been nice. Great beer and drink selection.
Service was marginal, a little more practice, polish and customer friendly attitude with proper meal delivery coordination desired and to be expected. Had to ask for a spoon for an ice cream desert.

"Everyone enjoyed their meals and our waiter was very helpful to the gluten-free member of our party. We had a bottle of the house chardonnay which I really liked. Since it was a special occasion...my son's birthday...we weren't concerned about the prices, but this is not a place we'd go to very often. The food was good but a bit too trendy."

"I think this restaurant would benefit tremendously from just minor changes with the way they prepare their food. Every time I've been, I leave thinking, "It was ok but could easily be better". This time, we ordered house oysters and the calamari to start. I got the white pizza as my main course. The oysters were not cleaned and shucked very well, which left them a little grainy and difficult to get from the shell. The calamari itself was good, but it was served on a bed of peppers and tomatoes and topped with aioli, both of which made the batter soggy. My white pizza was good, but also topped with aioli, which I thought didn't quite belong. Also, the menu said that the pizza is topped with shaved romaine, but what I got was clearly iceberg."

"My wife and I were sad to see the former Monument Grill Leave, When the Rye&Tyme came in we were hoping it would be as good and after finally being able to go; were not disappointed everything from food to service was very nice; and even though it was Valentine's Day, a busy night for any good restaurant everything seemed to run smoothly.
Our reservation was for 7:00 and I believe we were sitted by 7:10.
It was definitely an enjoyable evening and we will be back.

"This was our third time back to Rye and Thyme. The raw oysters are fantastic and come with cocktail sauce, horseradish, and a mignonette sauce. The steak frites was very good, as was the filet mignon. We sat in the large back room where it was nice and quiet. Service was friendly and attentive. We're lucky to have such a nice place in this area. And they seem to do a very good business. It's not cheap, but you do get what you pay for. If you haven't tried this place yet, you should. I hope they keep up the good work."

"Not a place I would go back to. I cannot see how anyone can positively rate. 35 minutes late on seating with a reservation. Bar service extremely poor and attendants lacking. Overpriced wine and a poor selection at that. Very disorganized. Was served a cold lobster bisque with no lobster in it. Weak salad and skimpy on the bread. The entrees were terrible. Had a crab stuffed shrimp burned on top. And the coup de grace a brownie with ice cream which looked and tasted as if it were pulled from a vending machine. Waitress knew it was bad but her service was good. Overpriced and this place was much better as the Monument Grille. Avoid like the plague or head to McD's instead."

"Went on valentines day, so menu was limited, very good dinner. Waitress was barely around, but could have been due to the holiday. However they could have better planned for this, we couldn't even get a refill on our water. Would go again, but will try for less busy day and hope service is better."

"Great food and service. The potato skins and short ribs were exceptional. We inquired about a private function and they sent the manager, Lisa right over to our table. She was so accommodating and answered all our questions and gave us a tour of the downstairs space. She gave us lots of helpful information and recommendations. We will be having our function here and are very excited!"

"i love what niche has done with the former monument grille. the decor is great- i just wish everything else was as well!! we dined there on a very cold night & were sat by a window where we froze for the rest of the night. i mean- we froze!!!!!!!!! having worked in the restaurant business i know it's annoying when parties want to switch tables on busy nights so we decided to suffer, but nobody should be sat by that window in the winter. we ordered sweet potato & corn chowder & i was excited to warm my frozen hands on the bowl but it was barely warm with one tiny piece of sweet potato. our server was lovely but i think the kitchen was ovewhelmed because service could have been faster. the food was delicious but not warm enough."

"I loved the feel of the restaurant and the menu had a lot of great choices. A very pleasant surprise was the interesting microbrew selection. The staff seemed a little overwhelmed but I thought it was a cool place and will try it again. Another cool feature was a separate draught house downstairs with live music and an even better beer selection."

"This was our first time at the restaurant. We were going to be about 5 minutes late so I called the restaurant to let them know even though I know they will hold a table for a few minutes and was not thanked for calling. When we arrived we waited about 15 minutes. We both ordered specialty drinks, first round was good, for second round they ran out of ginger beer for one of the drinks. I would think that a restaurant would make sure that they would have the ingredients for the drinks they showcase. Oysters were good. Meals were okay, ran out of a side on a special, substituted with out telling or asking and the vegetables were almost raw. Very disappointed."
