Filippo's, located in Chicago's Lincoln Park / De Paul neighborhood, has been a favorite culinary destination since 1993, offering classic and nouvelle Italian cuisine. Filippo's has won many awards including Zagat's Best Neighborhood Restaurant Award and a four-star rating from Metromix diners.
"This is a great Italian restaurant which always makes me nostalgic about my mother's cooking. Friendly staff, excellent food and small town Italy ambiance make this a great neighborhood place."

"As a native New Yorker who grew up eating in little Italy I think I recognize outstanding Italian cuisine. Filippo's compares to any of those and surpasses most. Our party had two veal dishes and the black pasta with seafood each saying to each other you must try this. To top it off I had lunch the nest day. Great food large portions and great food reasonable prices, what more could you ask for."

"Authentic Italian food at a decent price, you can't go wrong. And it's a great spot for a dinner date. The staff was helpful and attentive even though they were busy when we got there. I'll definitely go again if I return to the area."

"We've lived in the area almost 3 years, but it took a Groupon to finally get us over to Filippo's! The verdict: we actually liked the food better than at Rose Angelis or Via Carducci, the other two local Italian restaurants we have tried. The ambience is a tad too casual (the speakers were blasting some inappropriately bouncy music and I'll never get used to waitstaff 30 years my junior referring to my husband and me as "you guys") but the service was helpful and timely, and the bottom line is that the food was very good and reasonably priced. We won't need a Groupon to return."

"Filippo's is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with a few easily fixed flaws. The pickled eggplant in oil was delicious and adventurous. However the bread that went along with it was less than interesting. It had no crusty bite and no internal structure to tug against teeth. Was this a storage problem? Did we come too early for the bread delivery? The salad was fantastic! I had the beet with blue cheese. I'm usually not a blue cheese person, but the melding of flavors makes me realize that with beets, blue cheese is the perfect partner. Bravo! The pasta and sauces were delicious and there were great sounding fish options as well. There's no artisanal beer, so plan to drink wine. The wine we had, a Sauvignon, was great."

"Went here on Valentine's day for my daughter's first birthday. Was me, my wife, daughter, and my parents who were visiting in from NY.
Our first choice was Buona Terra in Logan Square, but I was unable to make a reservation about 2 weeks out from Valentine's day. I found Filippos on Yelp and it had very good ratings, and they could give us a table. This, plus my folks enjoy Italian.
All in all, the experience was good. I would say that the food was about a star below what we would get at Buona Terra - it just didn't feel as authentic/home-made. However the atmosphere was more relaxed than romantic and I didn't feel as self-conscious taking a 1 year old out to a "nice" dinner."

"Stellar, solid Italian fare at reasonable prices. I had the special gnocchi and it was perfectly done. Good wine list. Really attentive and friendly service. It's definitely a neighborhood joint and a little old school, in a good way."
