"We hadn't been to Benny's in a while. We were happy to see some of the same waiters. We had the burata with tomato. It was creamy and delicious. Next we had linguine with tiny clams and hot sausage. It was excellent! We finished with a special request, steak Diane which is prepared table side. It was an item that used to be on the menu. As it was the Saturday before Mother's Day and the restaurant was busy, we were very happy that they could accommodate us. We were celebrating my husbands birthday.
Benny came out of the kitchen and came around to all of the tables. All in all an excellent meal in a first class restaurant with a first class owner and staff."

"We have been meaning to go to Benny's for quite some time so we finally did this past Saturday night. Overall, it was a good experience. The food was consistently good however there was nothing that caused any of us a "wow" reaction. It was "Saturday night crowded" so the service was good but not consistent. I would go back again as in all, it was above average in all respects."

"I have heard about benny's for some time. So I figured it was time to try it. We went on a friday night at 8pm for restaurant week. The place was very busy but we were seated at our appointed time. Nobody came over to our table for at least 30 minutes when we finally asked to see some menus. They took our drink order and disappeared for another 20 minutes before taking our dinner order. The food was okay. I ordered a tricolored salad and chicken scaperiello. Five out of 6 of us didnt even order the restaurant week menu. The waiters were very unaccommodating and unfriendly. There are so many places to eat on long island, why would i return to somewhere that isn't nice to their customers? I wouldn't!"

"We were seated inn what they call the wine cellar, a little dingy, but intimate. I thought we would be so out of the way that service would be minimal, however they never forgot us and the service was exceptional. The food was very tasty and hot. The only drawback in this room was when they had to roll a large table through it. We used our smartphone for music and it was quieter than the rest of the restaurant. Definitely worth a return trip."

"we went there for dinner and the owner Benny was in the front. I made a reservation for 4 people (2 of which are my children) and he looked at my children and looked annoyed. Then said you made a reservation for 4 people, which we were! but he said it's not really 4 people. But I would need 4 seats, so it makes no sense that we would receive such a horrible welcome to this restaurant. Food was ok, and the servers were friendly, but because of his attitude, I will never return."

"A great place for traditional Italian food with a nice touch of the exotic in some of the dishes. They do many things you may have heard of or had in other restuarants but they manage to do them better and with their own personal touch. "We were a group of six and not one of us was disappointed. Our waiter was fabulous and was so helpful in our selection of all courses! Calamari, Broccoli Floret, Benny's Rollatini, Pan Seared Scallops, Rigatoni Pugliese, Chicken Gismonda,and a Veal Special. We wanted to have it set up in a "tasting manner". Our waiter made a suggestion to "trust him" in setting up these dishes for all of us to experience; we did. Needless to say, he had the kitchen arrange our dishes where we all had a sampling of everything! The food was fabulous. If I was a person like Peter Giannoti, I would give Benny's 5 CHEF HATS."

"It will be a long time before we go back to Benny's restaurant. The service was fine and the decor was fairly dated however, the food was not what I expected from the reviews and the prices they charge. I ordered a pasta dish that did not resemble anything that was on their web page. The dish was tasteless and the portion was relatively small. My wife ordered a fish dish that she couldn't finish it was so creamy and rich. How this restaurant had such a good review is beyond me"

"After reading a glowing review in a local newspaper we decided to try this venerable restaurant. It was terrific! "First time. Ambiance is rather bland. Benny was a gracious host and the servers friendly. Food is the focus and rightfully so, it's great. I had the artichoke appetizer, the fettuccine with duck ragout and the cod Livornese. Add a bottle of chianti @ half price and capped by Tartufo. Delightful!"

"My experience at Benny's was a memorable one. Being greeted by co-owners Lisa and her brother makes you feel like your having a special meal with family. The pasta special was homemade and the fish was delicious (Swordfish and Sea Scallops). This was my first time eating there and my mother in law and I were beyond impressed. This restaurant has been around for 26 years and I'm not surprised. We plan on coming back again in the very near future."

"My husband and I used to be very good, frequent customers of Benny's many years ago, then for some reason we stopped going.Other places closer to our home opened and we literally forgot about Benny's! Looking for a place to catch dinner before a NorthFork Theater show on Saturday night we rediscovered Benny's and happily found it to be just as wonderful as always. The food was fresh and delicious, the service impeccable. We both had fish dishes, mine branzino, his red snapper and they were both cooked perfectly and scrumptious! We will remember in the future to go to Benny's for a special occasion, or just a romantic night out !"

"First time visit and one of the worst dining experiences we have ever suffered. To start, we waited a half hour before menus were even brought to the table after being seated and only after asking for them - which was a harbinger of what the evening had in store. Had to chase the wait staff for everything often necessitating several requests. Just our impression, but the focused of attention seemed to be on the "regulars" at the expense of others - which certainly does not make for "new" regulars. We normally give a restuarant at least two opportunties - will not be the case here."

"My waiter couldn't understand or wait for our order. It was almost like he was pre-occupied. We had to repete our orders more then once and he would then disappear. At the end of our night. He took 50 minutes to get our bill. I was forced to chance him, to find out what the problem was?

My order of Pasta with Sardin, was the best I have had since my mother made it for me.

I also noticed Benny's daughter bringing after dinner Lemonchello to both tables on either side of mine, I didn't get any? I sat down for dinner at 7:30PM and didn't leave until 10:50PM.

Although the service was the worst I have ever had, I will return for the Pasta.. a great dish.

Benny himself was very gracious."

"Benny's is an old world gem in a modest building. Once you're inside, you're transported to Italy with the charm and attention of the maitre'd and wait staff. The food is always fresh and excellent. Valentine's Day the entire restaurant was filled but not overly noisey. It was a lovely, romantic dinner."
