"The food was fair. The spaghetti app advertised black truffle. None was apparent when it arrived. We told the waitress and she never said a word. More consistency in the food is needed before a return visit occurs."

"I have now been to The Black Pig six times and have enjoyed it all six. I find myself having a different enjoyable experience each time. There are always new dishes on the menu and I am blown away by something I haven't had before on each trip. This time we had the Duck Confit as an appetizer which was excellent. The Wednesday special of Short Ribs has been on my wish list since having Ohio Beef on my first visit and it lived up to my six months of expectations. We finished with the Chocolate Truffle desert which was a borderline religious experience. This Ohio City gem is my favorite restaurant and I can not believe it is not packed 7 nights a week. Well worth it! Can not go wrong at The Black Pig!"

"Awesome food, service, and beer! I'm 'big on the pig!' - want to go back and try more of the menu. We enjoyed the House Sausage and barley dish, the Ohio beef dish with short rib, and roasted mushrooms with left hand milk stout. Wow- they were delicious. You'll enjoy it too!"

"Wait staff were attentive and informed. Menu was varied, heavy on pork and the food was very well prepared. We were not at the bar but it was full and patrons seemed to be having a good time. It got a little noisy as the restaurant filled for dinner but you could carry on a conversation without yelling."

"We got to our reservation on time. Waiter was excellent! When it came time for our main course we waited and waited. The manager came by to apologize but we still had to wait a very long time. The manager made up for the long wait by buying us one of our two bottles of wine. IThe food was very good and I would not hesitate to go back."

"This was my fifth or sixth time and the food is equisite. The cheese and meat plates for appetizers are outstanding. Our server, Jennifer, was friendly and knowledgeable. I had two friends with me, one from Chicago, and he was blown away!

"We had a great time celebrating my husband's birthday at Black Pig. At the very last minute, I needed to change a party of 8 to a party of 10, and the M.O.D was very accommodating . He made space for us even though they were fully booked on a busy Saturday night- I was very appreciative!
Our server was excellent-very friendly, brought our drinks out quickly (10 bar drinks are hard for some places to get out in a timely fashion!), got every order exactly right (despite several special orders), paced the meal perfectly- all things that are hard to do with a large group!
Food was really good! I had the house sausage and my husband had the half chicken, portions were perfect and delicious.
All in all, a great night out!"

"I went to black pig on a Thursday night early in the summer. We found the wait staff to be very attentive but not overbearing. We took our time with dinner and never once felt rushed. We had both the scallops and the duck and both dishes were delicious.

"Our table chose to have the Chef's Tasting Menu. Foods are locally sourced. The salad was delicious and a perfect palate-cleansing way to start the meal. The meat courses were outstanding -- sausage and pate with pickles and pickled onions, seared sea scallops with sunchoke puree, and Ohio beef over eggplant puree with a rich sauce. Dessert was the only letdown. The chocolate crepe cake was tasty enough, but dense and chewy.

"My husband and I went here on a Saturday night. We both love pork but wanted to explore beyond the obvious pork selections. We ordered the pork belly appetizer and the cheese and meat board. The pork belly was very good...but we both agreed we had better elsewhere. We really enjoyed the cheese and meat board. We were not planning to order it but my husband wanted to try the sausage. Great variety of both cheese and meats. I was pretty full so ordered a salad and the asparagus which was perfectly grilled. My husband ordered the scallops which I thought was a big risk since we were in a restaurant which was all about the pig. Ended up a great choice. He loved them. Service was friendly and atmosphere was fun."

"I was looking for a great place to take my family and mother out for Mother's Day. After reading the reviews , I thought the Black Pig may just be that place! When I walked in....it looked like just a local BAR!!! We were greeted by the hostess and told we were given the table by the window as I requested, which was very nice. We then were led through the bar to the "restaurant" side of the establishment. Our table was a booth by the window but still tried to remain positive that this would be a great experience.The menu was limited and there was nothing special for Mother's Day ,The food was on the gourmet side, but it wasn't the 4.5 star gem as reviewed . I would recommend to a couple for date night, but that's about it!!"

"If I was in the neighborhood, I would consider stopping back in for a burger. I would not make the 20 mile drive from Hudson, as there are better restaurants in Cleveland, Hudson areas. I made a reservation a week in advance, and yet we were offered the worst two top table in the middle of the dining room. No other table was available, so we opted for the rooftop patio. We liked the atmosphere up there. Kara, our server was terrific. The food... not so much. I had roasted pear and salad...literally three bites. My husband had the braised rabbit the Cote du Porc and it was fine. I had Steak Frites. My steak ordered med-rare, came medium well. Not a good steak for $28. The Black Pig is not bad, it's just not great. We were underwhelmed."

"Booked on open table for our second trip to black pig. Asked to sit on the new rooftop patio and it was great outdoor space. The food and service were both very good. Small but fun wine list and draft list. They had a nice cocktail list but we did not partake in it this trip. Great food at amazing prices. 10 bucks for either the cheese or meat is one of the best deals in town"

"For our second time to the Black Pig we tried the 5 course tasting meal which was fabulous! Chef Nowak personally delivered and explained the dishes which were expertly prepared, including both meat and seafood dishes, touched with seasonal ramps. Awesome!"

"The meat and cheese board was really something special. Unfortunately, that was the end of it for great food. The salads were lackluster. The pork schnitzel was dry and flavorless. The pork fettuccine was fairly good. Will not likely return for this dinner menu."

"I reserved a party of 10 in the morning for a 1pm Saturday lunch then drove in from Sandusky. They were ready for us and took great care of our table. Everyone in the group thanked me for suggesting this restaurant. I loved the fact that Chef was using locally sourced food. Watch people walking in with fresh produce (Westside Market?). The Chef took great care insuring that each plate was just right. He even helped carry finished plates to a few of the tables. We all ate mostly small plates and sandwiches. Can't wait to return for a dinner servioe."

"We enjoyed the Chef tasting of 5 delicious courses. The Chef visited our table and asked our allergies, likes and dislikes. He then proceeded to prepared 5 delicious courses for us. The pacing was perfect, the size portions were perfect, he explained each course to us....all in all just wonderful!"

"Nice little restaurant. Service was great, very attentive. Food was good, not all at a "foodie"level though. It can't seem to figure out what it wants to be. Do you want to be casual, as the environment suggests? Do you want to be finer dining as some of the menu items would suggest? My husband had the duck which was superb and I had the pasta, flavor good but bizarre combo with pasta. We were given the specials and my husband chose it but they were out and they were out of our first 2 choices of wine."

"The black Pig was really a nice treat. Wanting to try something different besides the high end chains I was curious about the variety on the menu and wanted to see if they could pull it off.they did! from appetizers to desert everything was delicious! also the waiter a lady whose name I don't recall was very nice and helpful. She was on top of things as we were kind if in a hurry heading to a play.I would definitely go again and try different things. love places like this where I have to try and get through the menu because there are so many good things to try."

"Our first visit, we LOVED it. First , my " sand & blood " cocktail was awesome. Skipped appetizers, I had the pate with eggs-- husband had the pork schnitzel- both were absolutely de-lish!! And for dessert our lovely server asked the chef to make a French toast portion size for us... Perfect!!

"We had a very nice Sunday Brunch at the Black Pig. The "Toad in a Hole" was very tasty - toast with an egg in the middle and covered with yummy cheese. Poached pear salad was also excellent. Frites and gravy were decadent! Decor was warehouse chic and very comfortable."

"The food was OK. We all agreed we expected a lot better food for the price and just the general restaurant description. Two of the four of us had pork dishes, which we expected to be fabulous given the restaurant name/focus. Unfortuntely, we both had very dry pork (tenderloin/schnitzel). The scallops on the other hand were fantastic. The other member of our group had the trout and she did not care for that. The wait staff was attentive and the wine selections and beer selections were good. Definitely not a place for conversation in a group or as a couple - it was so loud we could not hear each other at our table. We may give it another chance this summer and sit on the patio where it may be a bit quieter - could have been off night."

"Our food was great! It was the first time at The Black Pig. There were three of us on a girl's night out. We arrived early for our reservation since we were in the area, so sat at the bar and had drinks and an appetizer. My friend got a Blackberry mojito, which was delicious. I got a virgin blackberry mojito which was really good and refreshing too. We got the cheese plate for an appetizer, which came with three cheeses, crusty bread, flatbread, and fruit. We were seated on time for our reservation. We ordered the Ohio beef, the pork tenderloin, and the duck breast. Each were flavorful and delicious with perfect accompaniments. I think we decided that the beef was the best. I recommend this restaurant!"

"My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate, having chosen cocktails and shared both an appetizer and salad, and then having separate entrees. Interesting and complex combinations of flavors in everything we tried. Service was very good and the design and operation of the restaurant resembled European and American big-city locations for similar popular-dining places that are congenial and welcoming and offer interesting menu choices."
