Lela's Restaurant hosts old friends from the neighborhood and new friends from the Central Valley. Our California comfort cuisine contains the choicest ingredients sourced from local producers, prepared by Executive Chef Manuel Carr and paired with fine wine to create an exciting seasonal menu and a great dining experience.
"Twice with clients and this night with family - Lela's was once again excellent, Tried the seared pork belly appetizer - excellent. RIb eye was large, moist and delivered medium rare as ordered. Simple pasta dish was excellent as well. My high schol senior son celebrated his graduation with the signature pork chop - good to the last bite. Full Saturday night crowd slowed the kitchen a bit but attentive service kept the water glasses full and conversation flowing. Will be back!!"

"What a great find ! The food was superb starting with the housemade hummus and chips. 2 couples shared the pork belly appetizer which may not sound that appealing, but was a delicious treat. The potato leek soup topped with crumbled bacon and the Cesar salad were excellent. I had the scallops that were perfectly prepared. Hubby had the filet that melted in your mouth. Ahi tuna that was a special the evening we were there was a hit, as was the huge pork chop that is a house speciality. The wine list is very good and the manager/sommelier is quite knowledgeable. Excellent rich coffee and a great dessert topped off the evening. We will be back !"

"SImple but elegant setting. Meal presentation and quality excellent. Short but varied menu. "Caribbean comfort food" billing accurate - vibrant flavors and colors but not unduly spicy or hot. Lamb and pork chops are clear headliners. Lamb portion is generous, flavorful and moist. Pork chop is enormous, flavorful and tender. Other dishes tried include salmon and scallops - both very good and fresh. Beet salad is a must - beatiful and flavorful. Tomato bisque textured and flavorful. Short but nicely varied wine and craft beer list. Owner/chef Manuel will visit your table to assure your satisfaction. Good value. Must repeat."

"Excellent food and great service, The waiter was very proper, almost too proper for my lady and I. Nonetheless it took nothing from the service and attention to detail. I was blown away by the food, and the portions on the plate. The waiter left us with an anniversary gift at the end of the night as well GREAT TOUCH!!"

"Lela's was wonderful. We dined at 5:30 because we had our 3 year old son with us. The staff was great. Our son had corn dogs, not even on the menu but they have lots of stuff on hand for kids. They welcomed having him there, which I appreciated - especially since it is a very nice restaurant. ;) The food was amazing - I had the beef short ribs - delicious. The cream of tomato soup was so nummy. The chef/ owner came out to check on us and introduce himself, which is always nice. I would definitely recommend Lela's to anyone."

"In town from San Francisco, what a find to discover LeLa's at Herndon & Marks. Exceptional food and service. Fresno has a new choice in cuisine it can be proud of. Everything we tried was delicious, and the portions are generous so the prices are quite reasonable. The chef has a different twist on comfort food, incorporating unique flavors and inventive sides. It all worked. Highly recommend this and this place is going to catch on soon. I hope they have a table the next time I'm in town."

"Great food and ambiance. Other than the water glass not getting filled up in a timely manner; the service was great. Superb win and craft beer list that go well with any of their dishes. Spinach salad is a must!"

"Our Valentine's Day dinner was a real enjoyable experience. The menu was a special four course menu with limited selections, but all of the dishes that my wife and I tried were great. Although the dessert left a little to be desired, the lobster risotto and tomato bisque were outstanding! A great spot for a nice dinner out."

"Crab cakes were light and crispy. Pork chop was huge - delicious but a little too much glaze for our tastes. Nice to start with hummus. We recommend the spinach salad, and the sorbet for dessert was refreshing. Overall great meal and we will be back!"

"I was with a group of 7. The table we were placed at would seat 6 ccomfortably but I was on the edge most of the evening. The complimentary cracker bread and hmmas was nice. The wine list was a small blend of domestic and european/south america wines. OK, moderate to higher end in price. I had the scallops for $34.00. There were four small scallops arranged around about 1/2 cup of seasoned rice.A little pricy for the meal and quality was average."
