"Good views do not a good restaurant make! The best thing about Jamison is its excellent location on the edge of Jamison Park -no better place on a warm summer evening to enjoy the view of the fountain and all the frollicking kids. But that's all that can be said for it. The servers seem as though they're still in training and don't want to be bothered. The food, if it doesn't have to be sent back to be cooked properly, leaves a lot to be desired. My duck was purple-red rare not the medium rare I ordered. When it came back after being returned, the potatoes and greens originally on the plate had disappeared; my wife's lamb and farro was a saltlick. Next time, we'll skip Jamison, and pcinic on a park bench."

"Although social media sites have not been overly kind to Jamison, I was concerned about my first experience. Now, I'm looking forward to trying dinner after a dynamite brunch. Great food. Good service. Beautiful decor. Huge patio. I'll be back and I recommend anyone giving it a shot!"

"I wasn't so sure about visiting Jamison, after all, how could it fill the shoes of the previous 5-star tenant, Fenuille? I was hapilly surprised at the variety of the food menu, and the chill ambience of the restaurant. Very Portland. I will always get a tuna tartare if it's on the menu, and this one was DELICIOUS."

"While the food was great (with the exception of fries, which were lackluster in look and taste), I was very disappointed with the service. We had made our reservation several weeks in advance and had asked to sit on the lower floor with a view of the park, instead we were given a view of the cement wall. To make matter worse, my husband's dish didn't come out until we were 1/3 done with our food and our waiter was pretty much absent and had to be flagged down for coffee refills."

"Will NEVER go back. Should have listened to the other reviews. Horrible service at the hands of the patio waiter (short, blonde, brown eyes). He was incredibly rude and acted as if we and the rest of the patrons were an inconvenience to him. Worst.Waiter.Ever. We eventually asked to move tables. Ridiculosly overpriced food for what it is. I have had better salmon for half the price at a chain restaurant at the airport. Hostess and another patio waiter (tall, brunette, green eyes) were the exception but everything else was so disappointing that it just did not matter. I hope management reads these reviews and does something about it, or let another restaurant take over the prime piece of real estate."

"Lovely restaurant space located right next to the Jamison Park fountain. Food is great and although the service was slow the last time I was there the server explained they had had some staffing issues that day. Definitely going to go back."

"Service was all over the place. The waitress missed drinks, was slow and couldn't get a whiskey and water correct. Food was served to the men first and not the ladies, sides were brought with the apps and not the main course. Additionally plates were not cleared before the check. The entire experience was ruined because of poor service making the night not worth the price paid. Servers need additional training even though the food and atmosphere was good. All in all a bad night that is going to keep from getting a return visit."

"It was our first time at Jamison and chose it because of the convenience of making a reservation through Open Table. We were a party of 7 and were seated at a round table in the middle of the restaurant. Although it was a busy Friday night with much hustle and bustle, the positioning of the table made us feel like we had our own space while still enjoying all that was going on around us. The small plate options, in addition to traditional servings, provide great choices for our group."

"Love the decor- lots of windows and light and a mix of metal, stone, and wood throughout. Several dual-sided fireplaces made it cozy with beautiful view onto Jamison Fountain. This would be great for summer dining. Read mixed reviews on service, food, & prices, but found service more than adequate & prices were average. Enjoyed the ahi tartare- a VERY ample (almost seemed like a double!) serving, and very good. We also shared calamari (not your standard fried fare), mixed green salad, halibut, and short ribs over polenta. All in my party agreed everything was very good. Sausage flatbread could have used a bit more seasoning. Had a great bottle of local Pinot Noir for only $40! Overall very good & we will be back!"

"The wine list is stunning in that the bottles (with only a few exceptions) was price at a very high end. Other restaurants in the Portland area wines at more of a variety of price points. The service was okay. The food was tasty, but quite expensive and portions small. As two women dining together we felt we were being tucked away out of sight in a closed in area between the gas fireplace and the outside window. It seems like the restaurant and its cuisine have been designed by a non-communicating committee:
One player for the exceptionally high-end price list,
Another for tiny portions at a high price
And, another who designed the space to be "rustic chic", but impresses as stark."

"A great find. This was my first visit since this great spot was reinvented as Jamison. Wasn't sure what to expect. My expectations were exceeded on every front. Incredible food, excellent service and great drinks. The entire space has been transformed. Gone is the French Country and in with the High-end Urban. Looking forward to many returns, particularly on warm weather days to enjoy the great patio overlooking Jamison Square."

"Jamison is certainly trying. They definitely have one of the best locations in town, complete with airy floor-to-ceiling windows that roll up when it's nice outside. The octopus/cara cara orange appetizer is a hit. The spare rib was great flavor, but too fatty for my liking. Try the moscow mule for a refreshing slurp."

"Since it was our first visit to Jamison, we opted for a selection of small plates to share. Everything was delicious and well prepared, and the service was very good. Relatively small but impressive wine list. We'll definitely be back!"

"This place is wonderful. From the fantastic cocktails to the absolutely amazing service, we had an A+ experience at the Jamison. It was a cold day and the staff made a point to seat us right next to the fire. We got great assistance choosing our delicious cocktails and excellent small plates. By avoiding entrees, the cost of a filling and lovely meal was just right. Don't skip the terrine of scalloped potatoes - oh my gosh! We'll be back because the atmosphere, staff, drinks, food and location are perfect."

"Was expecting a much better food experience. We had a flat bread, several salads and drinks. The special Manhattan was wonderful, the flat bread was mediocre and the salads were just OK. The wait staff was extremely friendly and courteous and the ambience quite nice. Too many other places in Portland that have much better food. Won't be returning to Jamison."

"We have gone several times to Jamison, and they are very consistent. The wait staff does a great job describing the dishes and they are as advertised. I started with oysters, which were delicious, and my spouse had a simple salad that was perfectly dressed. I really like the way the salad is salted. We both had flatbreads, which are perfectly sized to be an entree for one or shared by the table. I also had a black manhattan cocktail, which I really liked as well."

"Tried the tasting menu, which was a steal at a cost of $50 per person. The food was fantastic from the first course to the last. The only bad part was we were too full by the time dessert showed up, but the Beet semi-freddo was worth it. The overall favorite of the evening was by far the starter course, Leek cream soup with Duck confit. It definitely started the culinary evening on a high note, and we did not leave disappointed. All that paired with fabulous cocktails, like the Black Manhattan, and a great wine list. The restaurant with its reclaimed wood beams and fireplace, create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended for intimate occasions as well as a small group."

"Our time at the Jamison was lovely. We each ordered a salad, then shared small plates and found that to be a perfect tasting treat for all. A comment on one salad was that the fritter was extremely salty which was unnecessary and distracted from the flavor. The wines seemed overpriced so we shared a bottle of wine that we brought and paid the corkage fee. I would recommend the Jamison as the wait staff was attentive and friendly and the ambiance charming, if not a bit austere, and the food tasty. Sound does carry, so if you are at the "private" table between the table and fireplace, know that your conversation and laughing is heard clearly by the tables on the other side of the fireplace."

"The atmosphere and view of the park was nice. Staff were courteous, but not overly helpful. The Spanish omelette was tasteless and overdone. Salsa, or what I thought was salsa was full of different kinds of meat and the only other options were "hot sauce" or ketchup. Rosemary French toast had no flavor of rosemary at all. Excellent selection of yummy beverages. Other diners in our party enjoyed the mushroom and salmon omelette's, all and all the food is very inconsistent and not as described in the menu. I have had better omelette's at Elmer's, Shari's and International Pancake House. Food was well priced. Six of us for brunch with beverages was $100. We will not return to dine."

"In the evening the first impression is visually engaging; the interior design, architecture and lighting all work together to create a distinctly modern yet still warm setting that draws you in. The loft seating looked intriguing, but a seat downstairs by the fireplace is quite wonderful. The potato leek soup was rich and satisfying. The lamb osso buco was a real treat. Yum!"

"A little underwhelming. Portlanders are spoiled so you have to have something special to bring people back. The drinks were good but the food was just fine. Overpriced compared to what you get at other outstanding restaurants like Toro Bravo, Ox or Firehouse. This is probably a good restaurant for taking out of town guests who aren't very adventurous. I don't think I'll be going back except for maybe a cocktail in the summer."

"Valentine's special menu. Adjoining table said they were "regulars" but their food arrived lukewarm and in such a small portion they were going out to get a hamburger. The price, with a split of wine, was $150.00 for two -we could have gotten a real meal for that price. A VERY noisy table was near us. Two couples asked to move because of the loud laughter-neither request was granted tho they were not that packed. When we asked server to ask the group to quiet down we were told "they are having a good time" We asked again and the manager came and essentially said the same thing although he finally did approach them. My wife and I frequently will give a resturant a second chance. It will not happen for Jamison's"

"Food would have been good if it wasn't cold. Had tasting menu with wine pairings, some wines were brought out long after the course. No one told us what any of the courses were and didn't seem to know when asked. There were 3 of us but they kept bringing everything out on 2 plates. I wanted to like it here but everything was just sub par and expensive."

"We go to Jamison about once a month, and each time they impress us. The mushroom angliotti was truly delicious and the poached egg was a great touch to the sauce (plus, the crispy pancetta was perfect). We both had a flatbread, which is perfectly sized for one person. The service was truly perfect. We will definitely return."
