Rays on the Bay Restaurant is known for its fresh seafood, farm-to-table cooking, handmade artisan pizzas,local island favorites and the coldest beer on the Big Island. "My husband and I had the best seat in the house for the scenery this restaurant offers. We dined on very delicious food, watched the sunset go down and the manta ray's come out. It's in a very beautiful location within the Sheraton Hotel. I totally recommend the mahi mahi with macadamia nut butter. AWESOME!!!"

"The food is better than some of the other choices in the area in the same cost range, but the highlight of this place is the view for dining around sunset. Also service was quite good. We had all seafood dishes and they were prepared well. If you have good wine it is worth bringing your own though."

"Rays on the Bay is located in such a beautiful spot on the Big Island of Hawaii. This is a place you want to stay forever just enjoying everything surrounding the area. You can enjoy the waves hitting upon the lava rock shoreline. As the sun goes down you have the added pleasure of the beautiful sunset. And as the darkness takes place, there is always the possibility of the manta rays appearing in the beautiful ocean. This is one place you will most likely never forget for that special event or just a place to go to enjoy the evening."

"We eat here often and go here for casual dining. It is on the ocean and you get to enjoy the manta rays swimming to the spot lights after dark that the hotel provides. Not many places in the world that can provide natures show."

"Food was great, service great, ambience great. Music a little too loud to allow talk among the 4 of us. Manta ray experience not quite up to our expectations. Tour boats on the water were distracting. But, overall, we'd give Rays on the Bay an "A"!"

"We found Rays on our last night in Kona, and it was terrific.
Amazing views of the ocean, spacious seating and terrific staff who were engaging and just plain fun.
The food was terrific, including a cool take on guacamole using edemame beans, amazingly fresh grilled fish, and a lobster bowl with coconut curry that blew us away!
Finished off with some molten chocolate cake that made the evening perfect!"

"Went to Rays on the Bay to catch the sunset and watch the manta rays. Sunset was great, but the Sheraton didn't switch on their high intensity lights to attract the plankton which draws in the rays while we were there. We stayed at the restaurant until 9 PM and finally gave up. The primary reason I took my wife to Rays on the Bay was to see the rays, so I cannot give them a higher rating. If you go, you need to make sure they plan on switching on their lights."

"Recently renovated and heard the food was good also read that Sig Zane had helped with the redesign so wanted to check it out. The open feeling helps. The menu has some nice touches like Kiawe grilled meats& fish plus pizzas! Had the Kampachi simply grilled. Nice hint of Kiawe smoke. Some people were dining on pizza and loved it. The only drawback was the noise from the live entertainment from the adjoining bar area."

"The fire cooked fish was great. Pizza was so so, plus I had to ask for red chile flakes to sprinkle on. The waves were really crashing, so that was fun, but we were seated far enough away that we did not have to jump out of our seats to stay dry. Others had to. I asked for an ocean view seat, and got it, but the better ones would be by the fire pits, so ask for those if you don,t have more than 4-5 in your group. The manta rays were likely not seen that night due to the high surf and rough seas, but we had seen them before. Our waiter, Willie, was very nice- he did not rush us through like some tend to."

"Great sunset with unimaginative and mediocre food. Service was unpolished - not sure if server was new. We would not go back since there are much better options in the area.
Kids menu: my child had the best plate of food at the table - Hawaiian pizza
Apps: no real stand-outs between the seafood pot stickers, spider shrimp and poke
Main courses: Kona lobster pot very disappointing. shrimp, scallops and mussels were overcooked and lobster tail very small; fish tacos could have been more refined"

"We went to celebrate our 25th anniversary while we were on the Big Island. The atmosphere was romantic, with dim lighting. The food was delicious. Our server was cheerful and helpful. Viewing the rays was so exciting. We had a wonderful evening, from start to finish."

"We went right after sunset so we could see the Manta Rays and weren't disappointed. I loved the decor and atmosphere in the restaurant. It was a windy cool evening, but the manager offered blankets, which was terrific. Service was nice & friendly. Food and prices were ok. I honestly would have expected them to charge more due to the view and location, but the quality of food does not warrent higher prices."

"entrees were a bit small portioned, I had the whole fish but it did not come with any sides, probably rice and some vegetables would have been better. The rice scoop was the smallest that I saw served at any restaurant, this is a small childs portion and not an adult serving.Other than that it was a nice dining experience."

"As always, Rays is the place to go! The food is awesome, we especially love the Ribeye steak. What's not to like, you have great food, a beautiful view, live entertainment and good service with very friendly staff. During the winter months, you get to see whales, and nightly you can catch a glimpse of the manta rays. Dinner and a show, it doesn't get better than that especially with the trade winds blowing softly off the ocean and the sounds of the waves hitting the lava coast. How could you miss an opportunity like that on a beautiful vacation to the Big Island. Enjoy!!!"

"Beautiful location. Decor is up to date. Fresh sexy pretty romantic hip fun. Food is decent nothing great but worth it because of the view and the price is not bad. Took way too long for food. Reservation at 730 out at 10. We had two appetizers. Fried veggie wrap and shrimp cocktail. Main dinner. Dessert to go. We were ready to go. Was asked if we wanted water at start. Maybe that's the policy. But water should be a must at dinner. In my opinion. I would go back."

"My husband and I went to Rays for dinner our last night on the island and wished we had chosen it for our first dinner on the island so we could have gone back. We were seated in the rear gacing the lawn on the right and the ocean in front of us. It was quiet for us to have conversation and hear the waves while enjoying the view but not the best spot overall. Seats had pads and back cushions so very comfortable seating. The tables were deep so if we had been sitting across from one another we would have room but not be too far away. Service was attentive, food was excellent and a good value. Drinks were good, actually had alchohol. We didn't see the rays, probably our location but would highly recommend. In winter there is a wet zone."

"Rays at the Sheraton in Keauhou is a great place for visitors to the Big Island with great views of the Pacific Ocean, good food and service. But its the setting/view that make this a great place. Plus, once finished with beverages at the bar or dinner in the evening, you walk a few feet and watch giant Manta rays (hence the name of the place)come into view to feed. And, there is a variety of live entertainment. Always an enjoyable evening at Rays."

"Such a wonderful remodel, a really fabulous location and gorgeous setting. We recommend this restaurant to all our friends and even chose it to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The menu is pretty good, the avocado and ahi poke is delicious so are the fish tacos but we do miss the yummy shrimp lettuce wraps. Where else in the world can you enjoy a delicous dinner and then after dessert watch huge Manta Rays dance in sea, truely magical."
