"This place is great! My boyfriend and I come here all the time. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get and the quality. Highly recommended!!!"

"The only bummer about our dining experience was splitting the check. They will only split two cards and no more than that. A bit of an annoyance, but if you are aware of this in advance, then it shouldn't pose a problem."

"Service was slow to start, then nicely attentive. I liked how the kitchen could dial down the adventurously hot and spicy dishes upon request. And family-style/shared dish dining is always fun."

"Love it! Must have the Dan Dan Noodles!! Pretty much everything I've had is good except for the Hot Sauce Style. It isn't bad but it pales in comparison to the rest of the menu."

"Was rather disappointed by the food. After hearing rave reviews from friends, we were expecting to be swept off our feet by great-tasting delicious food. However, when the dishes did arrive, we found the noodles/soup too oily as well as the rice and meat dishes too salty. There is considerable room for improvement here. Ambience wise, the restaurant was rather noisy and it was difficult to hold a conversation with each other. On a more positive note, when we requested for the food to arrive ASAP (as we were in a rush), the restaurant kindly acceded to our request, and we managed to complete our meal and leave in less than 35min, which was rather impressive. Overall, decent service but the food is overhyped and needs improvement."

"This was my 4th time dining at this location of Han Dynasty and it is quickly becoming my favorite of the ones I have visited. The beer/cocktail list is a great addition to the already amazing food. Also it is very easy to park with the free garage and ample street parking. The interior of this location is also superior. Service was great and food was great!"

"I was referred to this restaurant from a student that I teach and I felt good about it immediately. The hostess was prompt, efficient and knowledgeable. She also made a recommendation of the double cooked fish that turned out to be perfectly suited to my taste. The servers, we had two, were friendly but professional. The food style was from my favorite culinary area in China, the Szechuan Provence and Han Dynasty did a wonderful job of capturing the excitement of the spicy flavor that is indicative of Szechuan. The server suggested trying some appetizers in order to better judge the heat levels of the food. There are indications on a scale of one to ten next to the menu item. Dan Dan Noodles which I substituted rice noodles along with so"

"Han Dynasty works on a "family style" and Sichuan (or spicy) method, which means that everything is labeled on a heat scale that they can change. Dishes are meant for sharing: one dish can feed two with leftovers, four well, and oh, the waiter said that one bowl of soup can easily fit a group up to 6. Yes, portions are big and Cheap! Me and my date ordered one noodle dish, one scallion pancakes, and one main all shared and we had plenty to take home. It's a great place to go for a group! We went to the one in University City, on Market. When it's nice out, they have outdoor seating with a fire pit. Service was very nice for a crowded friday."

"This was my first visit to Han's University City location. The menu is the same as their Old City location. I was meeting someone for a business lunch and it was the perfect setting. We shared Wontons in Chicken Broth followed by Crisy Rice Style Fish. Both were excellent! Our server was very friendly and accomodating as well."

"Great food. The garlic sauce tofu wonderful. Just green beans w/o the meat were heavenly. Best Chinese restaurant around? Likely. The university city location has an upbeat, energetic vibe. Pleasant service though ragged at times. Good about explaining the spice levels to diners new to Han Dynasty. Will return."

"Interesting menu, but their idea of spicing food is pouring lots of chili oil on it. I love spice and enjoyed the dishes we had (nice fresh ingredients), but the lack of subtlety and the sameness of the spicing was a disappointment. I will try more of the less spicy next time, even though spice is what I like! Also, be sure to order you dishes one at a time. They bring everything out in the order it is prepared so our appetizers arrived in the middle of our eating of entrees. Food got cold because it was not staggered at all."

"Very goog and imaginative Chinese food. Pay attention to the numbers by items on the menu! The staff was very attentive and helpful, making sure we didn't get in over our heads in terms of heat (this is where the numbers come into play). Great wine and beer list - Dale's Pale Ale! Looking forward to going back. Dan Dan noodles are a great appetizer, and at a six (out of ten) had this round-eye glistening around the temples. Highly recommended."

"Han Dynasty has a mix-and-match menu that allows you to pair your choice of protein with various styles of cooking that range is spiciness form mild to flame thrower. Even for spice affecinados, anything above 7 on the restaurant's 10-point heat scale could be challenging. Hot pepper style with chicken (heat value 7} was excellent; scallion style with pork had virtually no spice at all and was bland. Portions were generous and the ratio of protein to vegetables was good. The estaurant has a small but high quality selection of beers. The hit of the evening was the dan dan noodles, which may be the best that I have ever had."

"The food was absolutely amazing and came out very quickly. Don don noodles were delicious, scallops were not only delicious but also a bargain for how many you get, and the spicy chicken was great (the spice is worth it). Highly recommend the fish bowls if you're willing to spend a little extra for a great drink."

"The much hyped Han Dynasty was a disappointment. My party and I took offense at being treated as food novices. If one chooses to eat spicy food, that choice should not be questioned by the wait staff. If the food is not correctly rated for spiciness, the management should rethink their marketing rather than having the wait staff determine how much spiciness a group of diners can tolerate. The experience did not satisfy the palate, the wallet or the mood."

"While the food was delicious and reasonably priced, the service was terrible. We waited for at least 15 minutes before we were approached by a server who didn't seem too hurried or worried about our dining experience. Thank goodness the food came out quickly."

"We had a party of 3 and we all ordered a few different things and passed them around. Dan Dan noodles were the table favorite. The dish one of my friends got was so salty it was not edible. We told the waiter who basically just shrugged. The string beans were good but also much too salty and I've made better spring rolls at home. Overpriced and not nearly as good as I was hoping. I don't think I'll be heading back anytime soon. Was also disappointed that there were only 2 cocktails on the happy hour menu."

"Food is not as spicy as they advertise and warm on the menu. Food is spicy and tasty, yes, but not as hot as they warm. Less vegetables in the entrees than one would expect. Vegetables as side dishes are good."

"I love the food at Han Dynasty. The one thing that bothered me on this previous trip was the serving time. We ordered our food, and about 3 minutes later the appetizer appeared. Maybe 3 minutes after that as we were putting the (amazing) noodles on our plates, the main courses arrived.
Presentation is a big part of eating, and having food thrown at you the instant you sit down makes it feel like a fast food restaurant. It's nice to have a chance to drink a beer and talk to your friends, and some lag time between ordering and serving also hides the fact that the food is preprepared."

"Oh my god. This was the best Chinese food I have ever had. I've never been able to tolerate such a high level of spice before, but I just couldn't stop eating. My mouth was tingling and numb by the time I put my chopsticks down, and my brain was swimming with endorphins. This meal was the ultimate rush, and the combinations of flavors contained within that numbing spice of the szechuan peppers covered all the bases on my tongue. I couldn't speak highly enough for this place. I need to try everything on the menu next time I'm in Philly!"

"This was the first time that I dined at Han Dynasty and overall it was very good. The portions are extremely generous and the prices are fairly reasonable, depending on what you order. My group shared everything we ordered. We got the Dandan noodles but asked for them to be slightly less spicy than suggested on the menu and they were still plenty hot. Additionally we had the crispy rice with shrimp (very mild), the pickled chili style with fish (extremely spicy for us and this is only labeled 5/10 on their level of spiciness), and the garlic sauce with chicken, which was by far the best dish we ordered. The wait staff was very good at explaining the menu and they were very accommodating of all of our requests."
