"I would have rated White Oak higher, but the service was not what I would expect for a restaurant of this level. The table beside us didn't get silverware and waited so long for someone to come by that their entrees got cold. Our server was there only to take our order and then we had to flag him down to get the check. He greeted our table by going into a speech about how short handed they were. A shame because the fried chicken was some of the best I've ever had."

"White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails' lives up to it name. The decor is crisp, clean, and bright-relying heavily on beautiful white out paneling and fixtures that are complimented by large windows along the way outside walls. Their list of cocktails is extensive and interesting including drinks with moonshine. The food is exciting and oh-so-yummy! I highly recommended the potted shrimp starter and the fried chicken entree."

".. but won't be the last! The food was excellent, not only delicious but visually appealing. Special compliments to the chef! The restaurant is casually elegant and our server was very attentive even when large groups arrived throughout the evening."

"Service from the kitchen took almost 2 1/2 hours. Talk between adjacent tables was openly mocking the service. The server was sullen and dejected, but recovered at bit when bringing the bill. The kitchen was totally in the weeds all night, and the server explained that "the chef's mother was in the kitchen". $400 for dinner and I felt violated."

"Both the cocktail and food menu were inventive and interesting. Although a gin martini purist, I enjoyed the muddled blackberry martini made with berry vodka. The fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese was a treat. Best of all was the vegetarian offering. Who knew a dish without meat could tast so good. Our waitress was outstanding, friendly and throughly knowledgeable about the menu. The menus change with market availability keeping everything fresh and new."

"Great lunch menu. Did not visit during dinner. The special stew that they had instead of the soup on the 22nd was outstanding. Also had the Pheasant salad which the portion was spot on!! Great for business or even lunch date. Only draw back was it was noisy."

"From a relatively limited menu came a surprisingly good evening. I had been there for lunch (also very good)and this was a last minute dinner reservation. The short ribs were wonderful and the fried chicken terrific. A beet salad large enough to share and a right-sized goat cheese cheesecake completed the meal. This is a place worth trying."

"Excellent food quality and variety with unique food and drinking options. Server was very knowledgeable and offered good guidance. Kitchen seemed slow, which could be an issue for anyone on a tight schedule. We allowed plenty of time and all turned out just right. Can be very noisy, if at all crowded."

"I had a wonderful experience at White Oak Kitchen & Cocktails. The food was great, the restaurant was full of business professionals during lunch and the staff was very helpful in walking me through the (new) menu.
I would definitely recommend this placed for lunch, dinner and/or cocktails. The feel of the restaurant is very cool and its a nicer restaurant without being too pricey or stuffy!"

"It certainly isn't a "down home" Southern restaurant, but it's good Southern food. It wasn't the best Southern food I have ever had, but I would go back. Service was really good. Some of the cocktails were really good. Our waiter was pushing a cocktail he created. It was ok, but wasn't great."

"The reason White Oak gets a great review is that we had great food and good service from the wait/bar staff. Big caveat is that we had to wait 50 minutes for our food to arrive due to having dinner reservations on the night of NCAA championship game. Waiting this long is obviously unacceptable. However, the reason why I rate the service as very good is the manager comped most of our meal and the wait staff gave us free desserts. I've worked as a waiter so I have some sympathy for the obvious pressure they were under. Had the food been fair and some food not been comped, I'd be signing a different tune. But everyone handled the situation as they should - they apologized and took care of us."

"We were in Atlanta for the NCAA finals, food took over an hour due to dinner rush, seemed they may have run out of some of the food we ordered. Other than delay in dinner, great food and location."

"Recently went to dinner at White Oak with my daughter on a Saturday night. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was very good. Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive without being too hovering. I've read other reviews that stated their courses were slow to arrive but we did not find that to be the case. We had the deviled eggs, baby vegetables, duck and a lovely shrimp and catfish dish. All were visually appealing as well as balanced and very tasty. We will be back for sure."

"ok. I won't go back because it took 48 minutes to get one drink, while the other came in a short 17 minute window. However, the drinks were compensated for by the manager and the waiter was very polite. We did witness one other patron who had received the incorrect order twice (while we were waiting for drink #2...)."

"We went on Sat. night and it was relatively quiet. The service was fine, and the southern food was good, but not outstanding. The biscuits were mediocre, and for some reason we did not get cornbread, so ask for it if you want it. Deviled egg appetizer was tasty, but very heavy. My fried chicken was so overbreaded that I ended up picking off half of it (and I'm a fan). The idea and the taste of carmelized fried chicken were very good, it just seemed overdone. My husband enjoyed the duck entree."

"We had dinner Saturday night before going to a show at The Fox. The food was amazing. A great fried oyster salad; succulent grouper and creative desserts. Good wine list. Unusual, but lovely decor. Valet parking is not on Peachtree, but rather, on Baker Street, so just look for the Valet sign. A really great find."

"I would be hard pressed to recall a worse experience at a restaurant. At various times during the evening our server either threaten to "kill" someone, walk out, or tell everyone just how badly both the bar and kitchen staffs handled orders. Given the length of time it took to get drinks, meals, etc. the criticism may have been warranted, as I am sure is true in other restaurants, but never have I seen it so openly or disturbingly shared with the customers. The food was decent, but the discomfort caused by our server, the waits, etc made even that element distasteful. It may have been an off night, but seriously I think they are just off. Don't risk it."

"We were a group of 4. One person ordered steak, 2 ordered fish and I ordered a vegetable plate. My 3 companions received and finished their entrees before I even saw my entree. Never did get my oysters. Good thing I pushed everyone to eat while their entrees were hot. When my food finally arrived after several inquiries, it was tasty. Still, it was a bit awkward as we weren't technically eating together.
They have a nice list of bourbons and our waitress did the best she could given that she could not go in the kitchen to actually cook the food."

"We were visiting from the UK and wanted something a bit more typically Southern without having to go to a dive and were quite conscious about walking into somewhere in the "wrong" neighbourhood. We'd walked past this place earlier during the day (we were staying Dowtown) and the branding stuck in my head as being quite contemporary - I wouldn't have thought it served the food it did. Rebecca, our server was great - didn't go for the hard sell, knew exactly what we were after and recommended the fried chicken, despite it being one of the cheaper options on the menu. I'd heard of grits before but I had no idea what they were and she told me without making me feel stupid! I'm glad I had them, they were amazing!! The cocktails were strong!"

"Sadly, the only notable aspect of my visit here was the pleasantly aesthetic white oak used throughout the restaurant. The pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes were over heavy and over breaded. The waitress was nice, but simply not around when we needed her to be, and when the food finally did arrive, everything was disappointing. The caramel friend chicken was overbreaded and the monkfish was oversalted with clashing flavors with forgettable quail meatballs.
No explanation was given for why everything was taking so long either.
For a restaurant that boasts fine dining service and prices, what a complete let down."

"This experience blew me away! I was not sure what to expect but the atmosphere and service were warm and welcoming. Our server was wonderful and he had a great southern hospitality to match the wonderful theme of the restaurant. the Valentine's menu was delicious and everything flowed from one course to the next. The homemade rolls and corn muffins alone are reason to go back and dine again!"

"The service was great and the staff very friendly. However, found the food to be average compared to other area restaurants I have dined at and with comparable prices.I also found the decor, at least in the area where my wife and I dined, to be somewhat spartan and lacking the ambience that we are accustomed to at finer restaurants. My wife's steak, though having a good taste, was somewhat fatty and tough. My dish was well presented but somewhat below expectations in substance and given its menu price. No doubt the high point of the night was our waitress who was very knowledgeable and attentive, but not overly so."

"I love the atmosphere here. Unique and contemporary, which is great for business lunches. The service was great, but my entree was only luke warm. Didn't want to make a large issue of it since it was a business lunch. I discreetly informed the server at the end of the meal, and she was glad for the feedback. Overall, good, but could have been great if my entree was hot."

"Was there for a one-on-one important business conversation over dinner. The staff were incredibly helpful and observant, letting us talk when we needed to talk, showing up immediately when we needed their attention. Their flexibility in serving us a shared salad (with two plates) and shared dessert was welcome. Wine list, while not extensive, included many excellent choices."

"Food is excellent. Eclectic take on Upscale Southern Style Fare - Service was very good. Tables are pretty close together. The only issue is. It is a bit loud, as the bar music and sounds roll into the main dining areas.. The decor Is Rustic / with nothing to baffle the noise. So, don't expect an Intimate night of conversation."
