"From the ambiance (western influences with a modern kick, including pictures of the old train station and wonderful Edison bulb lighting), to the great vibe as conversations were flowing all around us!
The bar downstairs is fantastic, even if dining alone. Lots of tv screens, an amazing beer-on-tap lineup for all types of hops aficionados, and comfy seating.
The food was fun, from the huge tower of nachos (definitely a share), to our "Mom's Apple Crisp" served in fantastic black Staub mini serving dishes (keeps it piping hot) -- great portions, full-flavoured and a presentation that reflects the Century group.
And kudos to the staff -- very attentive and helpful.... lots of people buzzing around to make the night memorable!"

"Loved the look of the place, good atmosphere although when we booked for 7 people it was a bit cramped for us to share a booth and they could not accommodate us with another table. Service was very slow however friendly. Food for the most part was good but was disappointed that the item on the menu changed and when I ordered I was not notified."

"We went for their 3-6 special of $5 beer and $6 app's and had a great time! Menu was fun and unique! When was the last time you had mini corn dogs and devil eggs. The venue is set in the Old Strathcona Train Station, Beautifully restored and an overall very cool evening. Thanks so much MKT. There is a good reason you have been ranked top 5 for Edmonton!"

"We have been twice and both have been for lunch or brunch. I understand that it is decidedly busier in the evening and my review may not be applicable to that time. In contrast to some of the other reviews that we read we felt that we had service well above average. We had a member of our party witih special needs and they were warmly accommodated. When we were there with our children for brunch we felt that they were generously accommodated. The food was good. It is quite pricey. The seating is comfortale and lots of room for everyone. The washroom being upstairs is harder for persons with mobility problems and for moms with kids although they do have a small washroom on the main level for persons who are disabled. Good experience."

"Our first time at your restaurant and it was amazing! No complaints and a great staff. There was younger gentlemen that often asked us how our meal and drinks were (possibly a manager), that was great. He was the non-server to ask how my meal was at any restaurant.
If I could make the experience better, I would like to see Ayinger Brau Wiesse and Erdinger Weißbier on tap. I lived in Germany and they bring back a lot of memories :) fingers crossed!

"The food was really unimpressive. We had the fish tacos which were boring, the nachos which were ok, nothing special, no guacamole and not much on them. We had the king Crab KD which was terrible, fishy and bland... no pieces of crab and was over $20 for a small portion, awful. We also had the poutine which was so salty it was inedible.
The drinks were great, we tried several different beers, beer blends and beer cocktails which were great. If I go back it will only be to drink, not eat.
Our server either had too big of a section or just was neglegant, not sure. It was difficult to order she was there so little and we had to ask for everything from napkins to cutlery you name it."

"The temperature in the restaurant was cold, and some of us kept our jackets for the whole time. Some kind of (fire?) alarm went off in bleeps. It was intermittent, loud and grating. No-one came to explain the discomfort away. The alarm stopped after a while. Food was great. Service came in waves: or there were too many people at once, or there was no-one at all to call over. We'll be back for the food, and to try some brews."

"Mkt was okay... I would probably only go here for drinks and appies though if I ever went again. Service was really friendly, but slow and for being a beer place, she didn't know too much about the beers. Our food came really quick, but went back really quick too. I had the crab kd. It was mushy and the only flavor it had was way too much pepper an the crab was over cooked and pretty small. Our waitress was really good about getting me something else, but i was quite suprised that a manager didn't come and speak to us. My husband had the pulled pork sliders and they were okay. I got the fish and chips next and they were quite good! Tons of fries with them. So over all not the best dining experience but it would be fun for just drinks"

"Try a Hoptail - they were great! And the food was fantastic, too. We looked for a nice place to eat in the Whyte Ave area that wouldn't break the bank, and got some really fabulous food. Much, much higher quality than we really expected from a pub. The food was easily as good as a much fancier restaurant, with a more relaxed atmosphere, at half the price, and with an amazing beer menu to boot. We are definately recommending MKT to our friends!"

"This is a place to go if you enjoy beers, the variety on tap is great with some extremely interesting brews (along with "brother-in-law" beers). The staff were extremely helpful and appeared knowledgeable about the brews. The "Premium Flight" allowed us to select a variety of beers to match our meal. The menu held great promise, however the food was only adequate in preparation. The charcuterie plate had some very nice meats but only 2 small pieces of nice cheese - as a "sharing plate" not enough cheese for even just the 2 of us. The soups were very good but not hot enough. The portobello burgers were "okay". Skip the poutine. Bottom line, definately go to MKT for the beer, its wonderful while the food is adequate."

"Waitress never offered water even ... I got enough of it on my lettuce wraps ... My leafs were soaked in water and broken up .. Had water dripping in my shirt when I was trying to eat and food kept slipping out .. Like i mean soaked had to shake the leaf off and use napkins to dry ... I've never had gone to a restaurant where I've had to work to eat ..The waiters saw my shaking my leaf and asked if somen was wrong .. I said there soaking .... She said ya that's hos they store them in a bowl of water ... Great !! Well dry em As well there was no mayo on one of my guests burger . We asked for mayo and later were charged $1.00 is nothing but inform people when they ask its not on your menu that u charge!!!!!!"

"We had a great server, she was prompt and personable with us. We had a reservation for 6 on a Friday night, we were stuck in a booth that barely fit 4 people.
We ordered only Appetizers to share, none of which were overly impressive. The grilled cheese fondue was a major disappointment, poutine fries were over cooked. The fish tacos were the best item we ordered."

"I love the unique setting of a vintage train station, and the layout of the restaurant is great for large crowds. Parking is not adequate, however. The restaurant has a nice open feel, with long tables for large groups, and places to gather a more intimate group. I was there on a Friday night with a lively and energetic crowd. The service was great. The bar, and its selection of beers on tap is outstanding. My only complaint is that our waitress recommended the chicken, which she said was MKT's specialty. I ordered the half-chicken dinner, and the chicken was dry and overcooked (in comparison, the fresh deli barbecue chicken at the local grocery stores is juicy and fall-off-the-bone). I'm hoping it was an anomaly. I'll be back."
