Chef Shea Gallante brings his much acclaimed seasonal Italian fare to the table this June in Ardsley with the opening of his newest restaurant, Italian Kitchen. The kitchen, will be run by Executive Chef Paul Mancebo. Together, the pair will offer a menu that highlights the best available ingredients of the season. The restaurant is located at 689 Saw Mill River Road, Ardsley, NY.
"Tried to get a reservation for Sat around 6pm Was told only 530 was available. Arrived at 530 restaurant was totally empty and we where seated by the bathroom which every employee proceeded to go in and out. It was very distracting. When we left at 645 restaurant was still empty. This is the 3rd time I have eaten there. The food has always been okay but the people running the restaurant seem to lack good judgement. Wont be going back"

"This was my third time and I still love it. Service very pleasant and food delcious. I was surprised that the revision in the pasta list was a little edgey with no popular favorites. The veal meatballs are still an outstanding appetizer. My lasagnette was very bland but with some salt the quality was very good. My husband thought the steak special was good not great.Nebbiola wine delicious."

"Incredible food. Both vegetables and meat dishes are cooked to perfection with a beautiful presentation. Moderate prices. Attentive staff. Pleasant place to sit, talk and relax. This place is now my 1st choice in the Hudson Valley."

"A very nice little hideaway restaurant with good food, although there are too many items listed on the menu, but not available. It's happened all three times I was there. This is made up by the fact that the food is very good."

"Excellent food. Love the salad, the pasta and the dessert. Though the decor is very plain, the attentive service made it a very enjoyable experience."

"If the chef would only move to a more hospitable space with a human staff, this would be a fabulous place. The hostess was indifferent about making our party of 6 wait 30 minutes for a table (never offering us a drink) and the waitstaff wasn't much better. Noise was off the charts, couldn't hear the people sitting across from you. To be fair though, the food was delicious."

"the two dishes we had, a potato soup and the pasta dish were excellent, Dessert an apple tart also excellent: one comment: Bread that was served was ice cold. Would like to be served bread that is warm, like most restaurants do. Cold doesn't get it. service."

"I have been to Italian Kitchen before and the food is good. However, I will never return. We arrived at 8:30 for an 8:30 reservation. Our table was not ready. Ordinarily, this is OK. You just go sit at the bar, have a drink, and wait, right? WRONG! There is no bar to sit and wait, nor is there a waiting area to sit and wait. So you have to stand all squished together by the hostess desk, approximately two feet away from other diners. This might be acceptable if your wait time is 5 minutes. However, we waited for over 30 min. alternating between inside and outside (it's cold here in New York). No one apologized. The hostess was catatonic. She did not say one word to us. She just stared at us. We finally left at 9 p.m. Totally inexcusable."

"What a treat! My husband and I loved it! Food was delicious. We had the robiola pizza, pappardelle with white bolognese, scallops and pulled pork. The service was attentive and quick. No complaints. Best place in Ardsley to eat."

"This was my third visit, each time with different friends or family. The food and wine have been invariably excellent; we have been able to sample many selections from the menu and enjoyed them all. This last visit was very early Sunday evening and there were lots of children. They were accommodated with no fuss and didn't disturb the other diners at all. I have only two minor complaints, possibly related to my advanced age -- the light level in the back dining room is too low -- not romantic, just difficult to read the menu and to see the food -- and the front room does get awfully noisy. But the food is great and the service friendly."

"We never dine past 8 PM, so it was rare that we had no time to eat dinner on this past Sat. night except at 10. We thought it would be almost empty at this time, but we were so wrong! Every table in the front was filled. That would have been fine, except both of us absolutely can't stand a very noisy atmosphere. The level of noise in this place was off the charts...like a busy bar! It made for an unpleasant evening, which is a shame, because the two pasta dishes we ordered were very good. Unfortunately, probably won't be back unless the owner decides to change this...the antithesis of a pleasant evening for me is noise; don't like to have to yell over competing voices (and the tables are very, very tightly packed)..."

"We had heard good things about this little storefront restaurant and the reports were true. Veal meatballs were delicious as were the pastas, fish and chicken "al mattone" was flavorful and moist. Prices are reasonable and ambiance and service were very nice. We will definitely be back."

"Delicious meal with great service and decent selection of not over the top priced wines. Truly enjoyed the pasta with pesto and guanciale; I had a perfectly cooked hanger steak for my main course. My DH had cod which he thought was a tad underseasoned. We forward to going back and trying some other menu items."

"A lovely prix-fixe lunch that is quite generous in portions. I've heard this restaurant's noise level is high at dinner, but at lunch it is a nice, cozy place to meet a couple of friends. Try the buffalo mozzarella appetizer if you like mozzarella. It is outstanding!"

"Great meal, fabulous pastas, and wonderful flat pizzas. The panna cotta was also outstanding. The atmosphere is cozy and charming. Our only issue - we went on a Sunday night (four adults) and were put in the back room, surrounded by families with young children. Not the most tranquil relaxed setting.
That aside, I think this is a fantastic new addition to Westchester dining."

"Very loud in front room; moderate in the back room. Service was erratic, perhaps staff still learning. Food was good but limited menu in respect of competitors; size of portions was only satisfactory. Would recommend becasue it is new and others may enjoy, if it was a mature restaurant then would not recommend."

"The food was outstanding. We had bufalo mozzarella, eggplant antipasti, a pasta, hangar steak and chocolate ganache cake for dessert. All were out of this world. Good-sized portions and everything was cooked to perfection. Staff are all super pleasant.
My one TINY gripe is that although we had reservations, the only table available when we got there was the one closest to the front door. The hostess was very nice and gave us the option of waiting for a different table, but we were hungry and didn't feel like waiting 25-30 minutes for people to leave. In all fairness I can't legitimately complain, because we had a reservation and were seated right away. Next time, we know to request another table beforehand. We can't wait to return!"

"unimpressed especially after the glowing review in the ny times...would not go back..had to send the salad back because it was too sallty, which they corrected and then it had almost no dressing and no taste...entree very small and the prix fixe menu not many choices and not a separate menu so that the waiter had to tell us that half of what was on the menu was not included...instead of leaving a basket of bread on the table, the waiter doles out a tiny slice of not special italian bread, one on each bread plate which was very chintzy...I would never go back..."

"Our first time at Italian Kitchen was fantastic. The four of us tasted every app and entree and loved each and every one. We had high hopes for Chef Gallante after seeing him on Iron Chef. We were so happy to hear he was taking over Giuseppe's. We will be coming back very soon and hope to meet him very soon."
