Marcela's Creole Cookery

Marcela's Creole Cookery opened in 2008 featuring authentic New Orleans cuisine as well as other cajun dishes. The restaurant is a partnership between Anthony McDonald, who brings 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry in New Orleans as well as many of his family's recipes, & Marcela Fuenzalida, who adds five years experience as co-owner of a restaurant along with 25 years in the financial industry.

Marcela's Creole Cookery's authentic creole flavors & outstanding service has received local & national recognition, placing it amongst Seattle finest locally owned restaurants. In 2009 Marcela's Creole Cookery was honored with a menu exhibit at The Southern Food & Beverage Museum in New Orleans for bringing authentic Creole flavors to the Pacific Northwest in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. It has also received four star reviews from several local publications in the Seattle area as well as the The Food Network Magazine.

"We'd been wanting to try Marcela's for a while, and it's a pretty nice joint. We got there fairly late, so it was quiet, and the food was pretty good. There aren't a tone of Creole / Cajun options in Seattle, and as far as that goes, Marcela's is passable."

"The fried crawfish was delightful. And, if you like a good strong drink, you have to get a Hurricane. This one had my wife stumbling before we got to the show at the 5th Ave. Theatre.
The only turnoffs were:
1) While sitting outside two thugs were walking down the street and spit right in front of our table... G-R-O-S-S!
2) And, a couple bums came looking for change while we were chatting enjoying a drink.
Finally, the service was supreme. The server took the time to make good conversation, go over the menu, and answer all the questions we had.
All in all, this was a great place. Be sure to go inside to avoid any possible bad experience...and BE SURE TO GET A HURRICANE!!!!"

"I found the food to be over cooked and the gumbo served less than luke warm. Best part of the meal was the bread pudding."

"We had an excellent dining experience at Marcela's. The owner was very cordial and welcomed us at the door. Once we were inside the service was outstanding. From the time we order our food until we were served was very short. The food was excellent. They have a great menu to choose from. I would definitely return to try another item from the menu. Also the restaurant was quite affordable."

"One hurricane knocked me out and the staff were very helpful in helping me manage safely to my destination. They were very understanding and accommodating. They had a spectacular Malbec. The special spicy shrimp appetizer was perfect paired with our wine and drinks1"
