Marcela's Creole Cookery
Marcela's Creole Cookery opened in 2008 featuring authentic New Orleans cuisine as well as other cajun dishes. The restaurant is a partnership between Anthony McDonald, who brings 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry in New Orleans as well as many of his family's recipes, & Marcela Fuenzalida, who adds five years experience as co-owner of a restaurant along with 25 years in the financial industry.
Marcela's Creole Cookery's authentic creole flavors & outstanding service has received local & national recognition, placing it amongst Seattle finest locally owned restaurants. In 2009 Marcela's Creole Cookery was honored with a menu exhibit at The Southern Food & Beverage Museum in New Orleans for bringing authentic Creole flavors to the Pacific Northwest in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. It has also received four star reviews from several local publications in the Seattle area as well as the The Food Network Magazine.
"Marcela's transports you from the Pacific Northwest to New Orleans. The fish and seafood is shipped from the gulf coast, as well as, their beer selection. Go here for special occasions, they usually do a free glass of champagne and will toast with you. Must orders: barbecue shrimp, crawfish ettouffee and potatoes ya-ya. Definitely recommend for lunch or dinner! Just call ahead for large parties."

"Booked this restaurant mostly because they had availability a few hours before the Seahawks playoff game and we wanted to be in the Square well before gametime....what a great find! Wonderful service, great food and a great vibe overall. Pretty quiet while we were there (no TVs so no football crowd that day). The red beans and rice could have used some more kick (I think they tamed it down for us PNWers), but the andouille sausage was delicious as was the sampler (and plenty of spice there, per my husband!)"

"This was our first time eating at this restaurant. We had an early dinner, so it was very quiet. I'm sure it has potential for raucous and rowdy, though :) Food was fantastic, service was great, and prices reasonable. We will definitely be returning.!"
"My husband who is from Louisiana and I celebrated our 23rd anniversary and his birthday at Marcela's. It was not very crowded for a Saturday night but the food was delicious, hot and served quickly. It was dimly lit, with Southern Blues/Jazz music in the background, very nice ambiance. When the waiter found out we celebrated a special occasion he brought out Champagne and with another guest who also celebrated a birthday we cheered a toast with them. For us it was the perfect small place to celebrate, we felt like the place was only open for us. The Hurricane cocktail was strong but yummy and made our night even better. A very nice experience altogether."
