"Location and view are top notch. Food was really good - Grouper Francaise was delicate with spectacular taste. Filet cooked perfectly and melt in mouth. Warm Chocolate Bread Pudding to die for!! Prices not bargain, but very reasonable."

"great meal; only the bread was disappointing. we had the barbecued shrimp appetizer, and our main course selections were shrimp and grits for me and stuffed shrimp for her"

"Waitress seemed more interested in turning over the table then letting us dine in peace. Stayed in Savannah for 3 nights eating at many locally owned popular restaurants, this is the only restaurant I would not return to. Food was not very good. The only good thing was being able to have a reservation for dinner on River Street, although it was not necessary at this place as many tables were open."

"Having lived in Sav for more than 40 years, I regret to say we had never visited the Boar's Head-we were missing out. The bar area exudes the vibe of a local hangout, while the dining area speaks old world ambience. Our server, Amanda, was friendly, accommodating, and informative. A house recipe cocktail was tasty and well made. Wine by the glass was very reasonable. I had the blackened Mahi-Mahi, while the wife had stuffed grouper. We've had a lot of grouper, but my wife said this was among the freshest tasting and best she'd ever had. All the seafood here is fresh, but the grouper and shrimp are local also. The made-on-sight key lime pie for dessert was a full quarter pie slice. If you're a Savannah local, don't miss out on this gem."

"(Red Flag: Available 7-8pm seatings in-season on Friday night) If you want overall alright food, but in a dark bar scene located on lively, historic River St overlooking the water this is the place to go. Not excited about the paper place mat on the linen table cloths, and "fine" art on the walls. The she crab soup lacked crab. The protein in the main courses was prepared very well, the one side you get with your meal was alright, but the plates felt like they lacked another side such as grilled/sautéed vegetables. We did not try any desserts. The waiter was not knowledgeable about the draught beer/wine selection. The main course prices were maybe about $5 too high for setting, service, and sophistication/quality of food."

"Visiting in Savannah for a wedding, Gael chose BHG&T from a local magazine. It was nearly a mile walk from our hotel -- but worth it! We shared crab-stuffed grouper with garlic mashed potatoes. It was delicious on every measure. Big eaters could have easily consumed the entire entree, but we were happy to share.
Our server, Austin (a young lady) was friendly, attentive and on-the-ball.
Highly recommended!"

"My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner at the Boar's Head Grill and Tavern. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Next time in Savannah we will dine there again. The ambiance takes you back to the late 1700s. You can almost hear the voices of the past as you sit and enjoy an excellent meal."

"The atmosphere was great, not that it would be hard to go wrong in a historic building on River St. in Savannah. We sat at a table overlooking the river and it was lovely. Service was fast and friendly. My husband had a bourbon and it was prepared as requested, I had iced tea which was fine. I ordered the grilled salmon with peach barbecue sauce and cheese grits quite yummy; my husband ordered the T-Bone Chop with fresh peach chutney and garlic mashed potatoes again excellent. My only complaint is that the meal did not included a vegetable or salad and for the price, I believe one or the other should have been included."

"This is one of the oldest restaurants on the waterfront and very attractive with stone walls, overhead beams, wooden floors and an extensive menu. We had the special which was locally caught swordfish. Excellent. Seated next to us was a couple who had been ther 51 times !"

"This restaurant is in a rustic old stone building on the riverfront. For a place that has good food, it's a little disconcerting to enter a large bar area, but keep walking to the dining area! Good food, good service! And whats with the servers in Savannah always asking if we want separate bills? This is such a wonderful convenience for a big group of women, who are known to struggle dividing a bill. Thanks, Savannah servers!"

"To be honest there is little that is actually memorable about this dining experience. The weather outside was nasty wet, and we were looking forward to a cozy place for a nice dinner. It was just okay. I wouldn't make a special attempt to come back.
With all of the dining options in Savannah, they need to step up their game."
