"There were three couples celebrating three birthdays. Service was outstanding...each course served by three servers at the same time and to the correct diner. Food was great...Four of us had the delicious Veal Skirt Steak, one Scallop entree and one pasta entree. All of us enjoyed everything... We'll be back!!!"

"We liked the ambiance and appreciated the friendliness as soon as we stepped in the door.
The bar area was busy and looked inviting, but we went directly to our table. The hostess and waitress were both very helpful and knowledgeable, and our paella, sangria, and desserts were all excellent and plentiful.

"One of our favorites! Great patio dining with music. Inside is beautiful too but so nice to sit outside. The food is Spanish with great Spanish wines. Favorite dish is the seared scallops. "We hosted a small meeting at Catalan Restaurant and the wait staff was amazingly aware of when to disrupt us and when to hold back. The food was superb (I had the trout), the service was very receptive to our needs and the bar provided a perfect bonus to our meeting and meal. All in all, an experience I will repeat and recommend."

"My wife likes the place due to a couple of liver items on the menu. 2nd time I've ordered the $39 steak. 1st time it was cooked correctly but a bad i.e. grizzly piece of meat which I assumed to be an aberration. Guess what. This time in addition to another bad piece of meat, wasn't even close to being prepared properly. Hey, what do you expect for $39!?!?!?"

"As always, the food was superb. If you love Paella, this is the place! The special coctail of the night - Pear Mojito, was great. Our server was stunning, delightful, knowledgeable, but not intrusive. (I don't remember her name, just that she used to be an investment banker!) I was there with my most improtant customer and his wife. She informed us that one of the dishes we ordered was going to take about 20 minutes more, and so she offered us olives and pate to tide us over! That was brilliant; the mark of a top notch restaurant. Thank you Catalan for a perfect evening."

"We had a wonderful evening. Seated in a booth with guitar music coming from the patio,we had excellent service so good that we never experienced any pause in the smooth orchestration of the meal.
First course chicken liver was to die for and the steak and scallops were cooked just right. Accompanying vegetable were delicious-spininch and a medley of perhaps endive and mushrooms.

"The atmosphere was wonderful. Maybe because it was a Saturday night in March the scallops were very undercooked, osso busso was not hot, paella was mostly rice with small pieces of calamari, shrimp, chicken, lots of sausage and an OK amount of clams. We had a lovely waitress but not attentive - it was busy.. I do think that if the food is better this could be a real gem in the desert."

"While dining in the desert for over 40 years finally a restaurant that has connected all the dots, the food coupled with the service and a very prompt reservation system that gets this restaurant a 5 star for knowing what they are doing. "This is high quality cuisine: both the classical paella and the veal skirt-steak entrees were exceptional, as was the garlic/fried spinach soup. Staff were out-going, relaxed, confidant, competent and friendly without being intrusive. This was my first time there; it is quite expensive, so I won't be able to go very often; but price scale is not unreasonable, given the quality/creativity/originality of the cuisine. The chef + manager/owner must be especially knowledgeable & worked in or lived in Catalon~ia.: a region of the world not known by name to many of my friends! For northern end [kind of] of Valley, this is a rare, exceptional restaurant. Acoustic quitarist was first-rate too..."

"The decor of the restaurant is upscale and beautiful. Along with the intimate dining room, the restaurant has a small bar and outdoor dining area. The food was very fresh with a nice presentation. The taste of the Spanish/Italian influenced food was good. The wine menu is very small and not very exciting. I asked the Server if she had any wine recommendations, and she replied that she was not that familiar with the wine list and had to ask the Bartender. We ended up with a bottle of Temparillo suggested by the Bartender, and I wasn't impressed with it. Overall, the dining experieince was good."

"Wonderful happy hour deals IN THE BAR. Delicious food. Great service. Enjoyed the evening sitting at the bar. Yummy sangria. We had the 3 course prix-fixed dinner (in the bar). Osso bucco was savory and generous - brought some home. The paella was absolutely stunning. Loaded with all the good stuff. Brought some of that home also. Generous portions."

"I took my parents here for dinner as a thank you. We were a little hesitant to eat out in the courtyard as my mother gets cold, the staff turned on all the heaters and it was so toasty warm, we had to ask them to turn some off, they were very accommodating. The courtyard had a delightful atmosphere and our waitress was well informed and attentive. I ordered the scallops and enjoyed every bite, I was anxious to hear what my father had to say about his steak as he can be very critical, but he loved it and his portion was very generous. We ended up sharing the Cappuccino ice cream which was the perfect finish. I was delighted to find out that the bottle of wine I ordered was half price as it was a Wednesday special. We will return!"

"Good Mediterannean/Spanish food. I hardly ever like the Paella at most restaurants (sorry Jose Andres....) It's usually bland, boring yellow rice with a smattering of seafood. This Paella had real substance with tomato, garlic and saffron infusing the rice, and plenty of seafood. It was a little soggy and there was none of the promised crust on the bottom, so I can't give it more than 4 stars. But that's high praise for me - and I was home-trained in Spain!The rest of the food was good, but nothing particularly memorable or innovative. And the lack of a salt-baked fish was a surprising omission from the menu.I'll be back next year!Service and ambiance were nice; our waitress was very attentive and pleasant"

"We think this is some of the best food we have had in the desert. The menu can be intimidating at first but don't be afraid to try some of the wonderful flavors they offer. The arugula salad can almost be a meal in itself. The veal bolognese is my favorite, but my husband enjoyed the skirt steak and spinach. We will definitely go back again and will make it a preferred choice when entertaining friends."

"This is a beautiful restaurant and has only been open nearly one year. The chicken liver appetizer is amazing. However, for my main course I had paella. It was nearly tasteless. There is better paella at the Palm Springs Street Fest. My friend had calamari for his appetizer. It was good - but very bland. He put some hot sauce on it and it was much better. He had pasta for his entree and it was also very bland. Again - adding some hot sauce gave it a little zest.
This is a good restaurant with a good ambiance. But the food is mediocre and has very little flavor. If they could work to enhance and enrich their food's taste - they should do great."

"I had been wanting to try Catalan since they opened and Valentine's Day seemed like the perfect time. I made our reservation 2 weeks in advance to ensure we would have a good table. Upon our arrival we were walked about 10 feet from the front door to our table. Every time someone walked in or out we were blasted by cold air. The food was very good but we walked out agreeing that the portions were too small. The price was way too high for value received. We left hungry and agreed we won't be returning to Catalan or recommending it to our friends."
