"Overall I was pleased with the experience at Harlan Social. Making a reservation online was easy, and when we arrived we were seated immediately. The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived at 6:00 but began filling up as the meal went on. Dinner was served promptly and correctly, and everyone at the table enjoyed their entree. Desert was excellent as well. As a craft beer drinker I appreciated the local beers available. Our server lost some credibility with us in the way she responded to our concern about the very small portions on the cheese tray (4 people had to split 2 small chunks of blue cheese). Overall I would certainly recommend it & return."

"I have dined at Harlan Social 4 times in the past month. Never disappointed with the food. Original menu, creative and fresh. Love their chicken sandwich. Lightly fried. Try it. Whether you want a light bite, small plate or full dinner, they serve it.Service is mostly attentive, although one night we waited 45 minutes after dinner with our waiter no where in sight. I would definitely recommend this place !"

"This was my second time back and again the food was excellent. Everything we ordered was excellent, and I'd highly recommend the Chocolate Bar dessert. While the food is great, the ambience is loud and on par with a large chain style restaurant such as Cheese Cake factory or Bertuccis. Nothing wrong with that, just my two cents."

"Had a great lunch here one day and was looking forward to dinner with my family....but the 2nd time the food was just okay, and the desserts were disappointing. There are better choices for the $$."

"Great to be able to get out to this newly revitalized neighborhood. Designers were spot on as they transitioned elements of design (brick, exposed heating ducts) from the older buildings left in the area. Food options are great, excellent looking menu. The wedge salad was presented beautifully, yet lacked the punch of flavor in the dressing you look for on a wedge. Cherry tomatoes were like candy. The succotash and Mac and cheese sides were divine and the homemade cavatelli with sausage were perfect. Definitely be back again."

"I was delighted to find this little gem in Stamford, open since August, which I just discovered. Service was excellent, attentive but not hovering. Menu was great, from light bites and delicious small plates of meats to cheeses, to full dinners. Everything was fresh and delicious . I would definitely return. Good summer place."

"Great new Stamford spot with the perfect menu. One can have a light plate of cheeses or meats, olives, etc. or opt or a heartier full dinner. The fried chicken sandwich is done perfectly, with a side of spicey mayo. Service was very good, attentive but not hovering. I will definitely return. Everyone in my party was happy."

"The food is the best part of the experience, the ambiance not so much. The waiter told us the menu was new, and everything we ordered was excellent. We started with the octopuss and spicey tuna tartar for appetizers and both were five stars. The beet salad was very good - four stars. For entrees, we had crab cakes which were very good, but not as good as the seared sea scallops which were excellent (five stars). Desserts were also both five stars - the cheese cake and the chocolate candy bar.
While I would definitley recommend this place for the food, the ambiance is not the best. It is a large loud space, but the location is near a busy supermarket which is good if you need to pick up a gallon of milk after your meal."

"Two friends and I went for Sunday brunch. They had heard the panini and the shortrib/egg sandwich were highly rated, so they tried those and were not disappointed. My omelette was moist and good. Since we went when they first opened, there were not a lot of people to wait on, but the service was still friendly but not pushy. We took awhile to order. The only downside (and perhaps a feature) is the location. The large windows look out on the Fairway Market and its parking lot. Not scenic, but still a view."

"We were lucky enough to have dinner at Lemon Grass last night on a visit to Syracuse. The food was marvelous, tasted like true Thai food that we have had in Thailand. The beer selection was top rate, decor lovely, service attentive and helpful and the desserts were over the top. The whole experience was outstanding! We will be back when next in the area."

"Randomly found this on opentable and came for brunch on Sunday. The space is sizable but not sparse. High ceiling with a wall of windows giving it good light. The service is excellent. We are given our preferred sears. Drinks are prompt. The portion size for our plates are appropriate. Not to big or small. Menu is varied with elements from different cuisines as far as I can tell. Our choices all turned out excellent. Will be back."

"The menu was interesting but food quality was inconsistent. Appetizers were very good. I had the lamb shank entree. It was a good idea but very poorly executed - so overcooked it really wasn't worth eating.
Good beer list, great bartenders, nice wine choices. Seems like more of a bar and appetizers place than a dinner destination."

"Appetizers were good however we were a table of 9 and everyone's dinner was not very good. Some entrees were overcooked while others were bland in flavoring. In addition, the shrimp and grits were unedible. Best dish was the lobster salad that one person had. Bar scene was great."

"Had heard good things about this place. Our experience was anything but good. Awful service. Waiter said 2 could share a salad $11. Barely adequate for one! Waiter said smaller pasta at $16 would be fine. Fine maybe if you're a bird. 4 forkfuls! Pricing ridiculous for a place that has no tablecloths or well presented plates. Come on guys $28 for 3 scallops? $12 for a 4 ounce glass of house wine? Do yourself a favor and miss this place."

"Harlan Social is one of the few restaurants in the newly redeveloped south end in downtown Stamford. It is located in a soaring, contempory setting that has plenty of room and has attracted a well-dressed, hip crowd. The food is surprisingly good, making for a fun combination of assets for a great dinner experience."

"Took my daughter there for her birthday w/her 2 preschoolers &husband - Sunday brunch. We all loved the food, the kids enjoyed theirs, too, and we'll be going back. Not inexpensive, but worth the trip. Brunch = $128 incl. T&T for 4 adults, 1 4-yr old."

"The food and service was great. The decor was interesting and creative, only marred by the bright florescent lights of the open kitchen that shone out into the dining room floor. Took away from the ambiance."

"Nice place but don't dare try to dine without a reservation. The "greater" was more than rude to us when he found out we didn't have a reservation. However, after waiting months before going back, the waiter we had was fantastic and the food was really good. Nice addition to the neighborhood."

"I'll be honest, we are very picky, and have had difficulty finding good restaurants since moving to CT from the West Coast. Harlan Social was a huge find, and we now visit on a weekly or semi-weekly basis. The food is great, and far tastier interesting than your typical restaurant fare in CT, without being in any way pretentious. Great food, great ingredients, and great drinks (the Devil Wears Nada is our favorite cocktail in the area, bar none). Also worth noting are the charcuterie and cheeses, and the wines by the glass, and virtually everything else on the menu. Highly recommend."

"Everything was very good overall. The homemade potato chips were fantastic. There was only one item from the menu I wasn't particularly fond of, the meatball slider. My only other minor quibble was the fact that when I ordered a scotch they served it in a short water glass. How can you not have whiskey glasses for such a high end type restaurant?"

"We were a party of 4 women - all wine drinkers and none of us were crazy about the selections. The food was really quite good - one of the diners never eats anything and finished the whole plate! I think the burger needs to come out on a plate - the plank isn't big enough to hold the burger or the spills."

"On arrival we had an 8-10 minute wait. Once seated our waiter introduced himself and was very attentive throughout the evening. The food was very good as was the service. However, a very noisy place. Sitting opposite my wife, we found ourselves "lip reading" "pardon me" "say again". Looking around we saw people sitting alongside each other leaning into each others ears to have a conversation. On a table seating six or eight, forget about talking to friends opposite, so make sure you sit next-to your favorite friend. We liked the food and would consider a return visit, but this time it will be a week night or perhaps a luncheon in hope of a little quieter dining."

"This is a new place in Stamford, and it is lovely. We had a terrific Sunday brunch. It was a little tricky to find, but it is actually next to the new Fairway Market---just doesn't appear that way on the map. Food and atmosphere very 'Manhattan chic'. We all liked it a lot, and they went out of their way for our son's birthday!"

"The only thing they could have done better is put less ice cubes in the drinks. I order a drink made with Prosecco and expected it in a champagne flute. It came in a drink glass with lots of ice. They did surprise my husband with birthday dessert. I had only put in my open table reservation that it was his birthday"
