"We made a reservation at Ktchn prior to an Event at the hotel that evening. Ktchn did not honor the time of our reservation, seated latecomers before us, did not accord us the service we were promised as attendees of the event and made us unapologetically, excessively late. We had surly service from the overwhelmed bartender and terrible service from the host. I will never return. They knew this event was scheduled and failed to adequately prepare.
The food was fine but obviously not enough to compensate my awful experience."

"service was friendly and polite, if a bit slow. our mains arrived before our wine, which seemed odd. food was decent in taste and well-prepared. vegetable sides seemed under-seasoned, but had good flavor and were cooked properly.
great modern decor, but still with a more relaxed atmosphere. energetic ambiance, but not too noisy, which i consistently find a problem with today's restaurants."

"We picked this restaurant because it was close to the theatre we were going to. Loved the decor but the food was average and the wait staff, while friendly, were scattered. We had to ask for water, salt and pepper and set-ups 3 times."

"KTCHN (KITCHEN) is a lovely restaurant with an extensive wine list and fun cocktails. The staff is welcoming; the menu is comfort food with a "twist," like crispy quinoa bites (my friends enjoyed them) with a dipping sauce or a pea soup with gnocchi and smoked trout (which I loved). One had mac & cheese, which he enjoyed; ditto for chicken breast with broccoli rabe for the other. I chose fish and chips; the fish was a trace chewy (may have been a different kind than I'm used to) but flavorful, with crispy crust and tartar sauce that doubled nicely as fritte sauce for the divinely sinful chips. We ended with sorbet and gelato; I had black currant sorbet, which was refreshing and tart. Highly recommended."

"I had read about 50 reviews ahead of time; half loved the place; half hated it. It is in the Hotel Out on a godforsaken block of 42nd street west of 10th Ave. Police cars and vans back into the curb and block what little view there is out the floor to ceiling windows. The 3 course pre-theatre menu at $35 is a bargain. The drink selection is fine. The menu in general is fine. Staff are okay. I would go again, but I am not going to put it among my top 20 chices of places to eat in Manhattan. It is a good restaurant, nothing more, nothing less. People can do a lot worse, but you can also do a lot better in Hell's Kitchen and in Clinton."

"Great for groups. The menu is a bit restrictive in options with no clear sense of direction, but still has a few great options. The hangar steak was decent, but was insufficiently paired. I left feeling unfulfilled and a bit hungry. A few people in the party had hamburgers and fish and chips, I highly recommend these dishes which are perfectly portioned and priced. The entree prices were a bit high for what they came with. Offering an extra side, even in small portion, would make the prices perfectly set. As far as service goes, it was good. Not perfect, but much better than many places. Especially considering that our server was training. Coming from 15 years of hospitality I know how difficult this can be."

"Another great dining experience. The consistency of good service is what has me returning regularly. And each time I bring a different guest. This time I brought two female friends, one with a 9 month old infant. High chairs would be great to have (hint hint) but I knew in advance that there weren't any but the staff was very accommodating to help set us up with what ever arrangement worked best. "Awesome vodka bar. For $10 you get a tall glass with a measured amount of vodka in it (good brands!) and you can make your own bloody mary at a vodka bar with all kinds of things to put in it from the traditional green olives, lemon, lime, celery stick and horseradish to real bacon, red peppers, yellow peppers and capers, just to name a few and a choice of 2 homemade mixes. Fantastic!"

"We were catered to with a fun, laid-back energy. Everyone is helpful and attentive. The waiter was very apologetic when my glass of wine came spotted with someone else's lipstick still on the rim. A bit embarrassing but not a deal-breaker. Not a budget friendly establishment--this place is pricey. You are paying more for the ambience and the scene. The food was good, although the portions were a bit meager and my friend's sea bass smelled awfully fishy. My salmon was cooked perfectly and they were able to substitute kale instead of the lentils for an additional $2. I enjoyed my Riesling and my friends enjoyed the pre-fixe special which is a deal at $35 (includes appetizer, entree, and dessert)."

"I am hoping this restaurant is a better choice for dinner, but for Sunday brunch, it was a big mistake. The "Brunch" was Motel 6-level, with a buffet of cereal in boxes and stale bread and pastries under napkins. One toaster -- you had to toast bread yourself.
The hot choices were undistinguished. The staff was very strange, sometimes not attentive at all, sometimes too attentive. My guest and I both ordered one of the two omelette choices - we asked if they came with toast -- we were told the toast was on the buffet (so I guessed that was a "no") so we got toast from the buffet -- which we were charged for -- and then the entrees came -- with more toasted bread. Very loud disco music was almost unbearable. Won't be back."

"This is a sleek, modern restaurant,which unfortunately had terrible service. We waited an hour for our entrees, and when they came they were not what we had ordered. We had theater tickets, which we told our server when we arrived. When the food was wrong, they could not bring our correct order because it was so late. We ended up with pasta, which is something we would never choose. There was no offer to comp our wine or any other apology. On top of the poor service and incorrect food, they took so long to bring our check that we almost missed our curtain. Find a better restaurant, there are plenty others."

"This is the second time my husband and I have dined at Ktchn. It is quite a find. We had brunch/breakfast there both times and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food is good, simple and healthy (not easy doing a healthy brunch). The meals are satisfying to both the stomach and the palate. the thing we would love to do is catch their show. It's was running while we ate, but in a back dining room. It is a drag comedy show. We met two of the actors and they were quite funny, so I suspect the show is as well. This a fairly new restaurant, but has been pretty well filled during both our visits.

"I was very impressed with the restaurant. We live in the area and we had been in the restaurant several times before. The food was delicious, the service accomodating and kind, and the bill wasn't too painful. The restaurant has a nice vibe. I especially enjoyed my duck entree."

"On a cold rainy evening, we walked into Ktchn to an extremely warm welcome. The entire staff was fun, friendly & accommodating. The back room seemed more inviting, so we asked to be seated there. Restaurant has a clean modern vibe. The booths/banquets looked inviting and could seat six. Appetizer - Crispy Lobster Risotto Cubes was tasty. One ordered the burger - enjoyed it. Wanting to eat light, the other two ordered the Braised Beef Short Ribs for two, not realizing the price would be doubled from the $29 to $58. Perhaps our mistake . . . however just be aware of this if you choose to "divide & share". The chocolate mousse cake and apple tart desserts were disappointing. Still like it and we'd try it again."

"Went for a birthday brunch. Wait staff very helpful w/ b'day conspiracy. Loved the "Bloody Bar" (concoct your own with vodka of your choice). Pre-ordered two desserts w/ candle. Plate was beautifully callipgraphed with "Happy Birthday" - BUT one of the two desserts was not the one I ordered. It's a broadly varied brunch menu--none of the choices was particularly surprising, but the food was beautifully prepared, very fresh and highly flavorful. Enjoyed dinner more, but would go back for brunch."

"Too noisy for me once the DJ got going, but if you don't mind a noisy restaurant, it's really quite nice. I think the DJ may only be on weekends, but I'm not sure. Great Bloody Mary Bar- they give you the vodka of your choice and then you make the Bloody Mary yourself."

"When they're on-spot, they're "on-spot".. But when they're not, it's very evident.
Sometimes the staff is right on top of everything making sure you have all you need..
Five minutes later, it's like you're not even there. Over all amazing place - I will be back.

"Excellent food and wine pairing with every course, which was a plus. One of the best Valentine's Day dinners I have ever had. The prix fixe was very reasonable. They had a live jazz band and the singer was hysterical. (Very talented and added to the ambiance)

"This is a very grown and sexy restaurant. The food was good. It was all food i had never tasted before and I was presently surprised. The live band gave a nice nastalgic old Italian feel to the place. The Service and waiters were Pleasant and polite. I do feel that the live music volume should be lowered. The mics and speakers were up too loud given the environment. It was a bit distracting at times, but the idea is great. The live piano and complete arrangement and appearance of the restaurant is lovely. The prices are very reasonable given the presentation and quality of the product menu. Me and my date loved it. I would definitely go back."

"I went on Valentine's Day. They had a special Prix-fix menu which I expected to be mediocre due to the occasion at hand. To my surprise, the food was delicious. The potato leek soup with smoked trout was sensational. The menu came with a flight of wine, which they were not cheap with.

"For those with a minimalist bent, this is the place. A bar but no bartender so only basic alcoholic drinks served. A very sparse menu. I had the cheeseburger, which was excellent. Service occasionally. Lots of glass and bare surfaces without many customers. I couldn't figure it out."

"Went for and early breakfast. Place is super modern and beautiful with white benches, glass and mirrors. The food was set out continental style (toast, bagels, croissants, fruit cups etc) and self-serve. Think of a mid-range hotel's complimentary breakfast. However the bagels were hard as rocks and the set up was sub-par: there was one toaster for everyone, the jellies were in dishes with lids that were difficult to remove and it all was a bit of a mess. It's too bad since there aren't a lot of choices in this area."
