"I went to Little Market Brasserie both for Easter and Mother's Day brunch. I've been here for dinner where everything ran smoothly and I had a positive experience. However, both at Easter and Mother's Day brunch, the service was not good. Their brunch menu's have you order 4 items per table that you share. Each time, the first item would come out and then it would take a good 20 minutes for the subsequent item to come out. Some tables appeared to order individual items (which I did not know was possible) and their items seemed to come out quicker. Overall, I enjoy this place for dinner, but their service drastically needs to improve during brunch."

"Enjoyed it but not overwhelmed. Doesn't live up to Tavernita. Would go back when I can sit outside--the patio looked great. Underwhelmed by the drinks unfortunately. Many were sweet even though they were described as bitter (such as the rhubarb with campari). My old fashioned ordered off the menu was better than all the drinks on the menu--including ones with house made sodas.

Also, this doesn't seem to fit the style of the hotel it is in."

"I must admit, this was a last min choice for Mother's Day brunch for my aunt and her family. I knew I needed to pick some place that would accommodate 5-6 people, that they had never heard of before, so wouldn't be able to complain about it before we got there. Let's just say...my aunt & uncle are a tough crowd to please. My 1st visit was right when they opened--a brunch treat after an early morning Sat yoga practice. I ordered a coffee, and the chilaquiles. Not bad, but not great. So I definitely had my fingers crossed when I led them into the restaurant. My smile only kept growing from there, when course after course of PERFECT food came out, and made it to our bellies. 6 satisfied ppl, HUGE smiles, and a thumbs up from my uncle! BRAVO"

"Went for Mothers Day brunch (with reservations). Hostess was a little hurried and unfriendly. Waiter was friendly but food came out at very different times - at one point there was a 30 minute gap between when 1 entree was served and the next one came. The table of 5 was allowed to select 4 meals (one small portion was brought to everyone at the table). Food wasn't bad, just not a great variety, was not plentiful. Expensive for what we got."

"I was at little market this past weekend on Saturday night for a birthday celebration with 5 other friends. I live on Delaware + was excited to checkout little market. We were seated in the back left hand side of the restaurant (I'm assuming near the kitchen because it was incredibly hot and uncomfortable). We ordered appetizers, shared plates & an entree each. We did not receive our salads until well after our entrees and the putine was not served until all plates were cleared & we were completely finished. Our waitress said that this bizarre ordering was related to the way that she placed the order - this makes no sense. Felt pretty short changed with this 'apology.' I was very disappointed in our meal and the lack of customer service."

"This was our second visit to Little Market and we will definitely be going back. The food is very good, but what stands out the most is the fantastic service. Our waiter, Carlos, was excellent. This was also my experience the first time I dined at Little Market. It's great to see a restaurant that has such a great atmosphere and that also has great food and service. The outdoor space in the summer will be quite nice when it opens."

"This relatively informal(for a Gold Coast neighborhood) and reasonably priced (ditto), is a great addition to the area. A reasonably priced wine list, rare in this area, and lots of charming small plates. Our winner was potato gnocchi with a crab meat sauce. But there is lots to choose from and most just a step better than commonplace and not too exotic. Service was unbelievably top-notch. The staff made one feel very welcome and the pacing was perfect.

It will become our informal go-to place."

"We were three for dinner and our experience was relatively pleasant after we were seated. We were originally offered a small banquette end table which would have barely held three dinner plates. We asked for a booth,instead, and were shown to a booth at the far end of the restaurant near a service area and back door. Indicating our displeasure with this location, we were told all other booths were for larger parties. So we settled for the booth near the back exit which resulted in cold drafts every time the door was opened (about three times during our dinner).
Otherwise the food and service were very pleasant though relatively expensive."

"Had Saturday brunch recently with a friend. Enjoyed the chiliquillas (sp)- a large portion with great salsa seasoning and a perfect fried egg on top. My guest loved the sausage gravy rolls. I've had lunch there (the lobster roll and fries are to die for) but not brunch. I would recommend both. The waiter was very knowledgable and helpful.
This also is a good place to go alone. The bar was full of singles enjoying lunch and having a good time. Prices are very reasonable for the neighborhood."

"We walked in later at night, and the dining room was mostly empty. We were seated next to one of the only tables in the restaurant- which was 5 very loud ladies. The waitress was nice, but not very attentive. She was there to take our order but rarely came to check on us, clear our plates, or replace our silverware. We tried the gnocchi- best dish we had. Beet salad was a surprise because it was listed as beets, pistachios, and goat cheese- no mention of arugula which seemed to be the main part of the dish. We ordered the lobster roll and the filet for our main courses. The lobster roll came out, and we didn't have any forks! Nobody was around to ask. We finished it before the steak even came out- wouldn't return"

"They did a great job re-designing this place to make it a brasserie. It's a great location to meet for brunch. The smoothies and juices are delicious, though they ran out of a few flavors on one visit. The Gold Coast has been lacking in new brunch spots, so this helps fill the void."

"Our dinner was very average. Oysters were good, risotto with corn was rich and my dining companion liked it, but it came out of the kitchen luke warm. The scallops were just very ok - nothing special at all - and they also came out of the kitchen luke warm. The lobster roll with fries was decadent. That was the best dish we had. Waitress forgot the brussel sprouts, so we got those for desert - not comped. They were way too buttery and salty. No brains involved in that dish. The tables to our right and left both got comped on at least one dish - the waitress and mgmt couldnt stop fawning over one of our neighbors and they got at least dishes comped. We were like, hello - I won't go back there. Too many great restaurants in town."

"The food was very good. We were there for Easter brunch which required us to pick 4 dishes for a party of 5 and they would size the portions for your party size. I felt there was not enough food, as we ordered the poutine for 5 which came with one egg on top of the dish for 5 people to split. In the future perhaps you could top it with 2 or 3 eggs to share. Otherwise it was a great experience"

"Very pleased with my experience last Tuesday night. The hostess was extremely friendly. Service was prompt. Food was great. The caramelized Sea Scallops were delicious. The GM Matt came over & checked on our table twice. This really impressed my 2 guest. All in all a great time was had in this little slice of Gold coast heaven :)"

"I so want to love this place, it's in my neighborhood. But they really need to start over. On example is the New York strip listed on the menu as market price... (A first) When I ask why the waiter says it depends what cut of meat they get in?? It says New York strip!!? I ordered one and they brought me two... I order one martini and two were on my bill? The pork belly is sad! Don't go there. We had shrimp cocktail and one of the shrimp was brown and going south.... The Ceviche is uninspired.
The white tiled walls (so tired) with little gold framed paintings? Ugg. Banquet Seating built right over the French doors to the exterior??? Why? We get one month of summer why build over the doors? I'm not loving poor Little Market!"

"I never write bad reviews, but thought this place warranted one. I also frequent many of Chicago's restaurants on a weekly basis. I ordered a drink with one of their house made sodas and couldn't even finish it. Too sweet to even get down. Then I ordered a Manhattan and it came as straight Bourbon with a cherry in it?? So confused at this point. Bet hey, maybe a newbie bartender.... On to the food.... First time I have ever sent back anything in my life. Tasted frozen and watery, crab smelled of pungent fish, and gnocchi could of been spread with a knife (mush). The rest of the meal was sub par. Weird combinations and overall was not good. "Went with my family of 4 on Sunday at 11 a.m. Very friendly staff. We had a reservation and were shown to our table right away. Food was delicious. Chiliquiles were excellent as was the poutine. Would definitely go back. Nice to have a breakfast/brunch reservation on a Sunday!"

"Hotel dining is always interesting but this place pleasantly surprised. A bit older of a crowd based on its location. And we waited longer for a table then we should have had to considering we were early for our reservation but overall an enjoyable experience. The concept is share plates- for a party of 4, we took many of our servers recommendations & ordered the pull apart bread which was good, the mushrooms on toast which I hated- tasted like they opened a can of Cream of mushroom soup, the sunchoke and pear salad which was delightful, the beet salad- i did not care for as I am not a fan of beets but my friends enjoyed. The corn risotto, scallop dish, & shortribs were quite excellent. The brownie dessert was good but uninspiring."

"Little Market Brasserie was great! The food was amazing (seriously, the short rib melted and the hazelnut crisp was heavenly), the drinks were uber cool and tasty, and the service was very attentive.

The restaurant is a bit loud for intimate conversation... and we definitely felt like we might not be cool enough to stay after dinner to have another concoction at the bar...

But otherwise - I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I've been there twice now and each time has been just as good!"

"I like the atmosphere and environment of the place. Food was very good, nothing too out of the ordinary. I went on Sunday for their brunch, there aren't many people, so there was no wait, nor was it too loud to have normal conversation. Though the waiters kept coming to our table every 5 mins, asking us if we need anything...seemed like they really wanted us to leave."

"We had a wonderful time celebrating my husband's 42nd birthday with our children at Little Market. It was our 4th time at the restaurant, our 3rd dinner there. I did not have a great experience in service when we were there for brunch and I wrote about that on Open Table. The marketing director contacted me via email. I was very impressed that the restaurant cared enough to reach out. When we were there Friday, the staff (manager, server, etc.) went out of their way to give us excellent service. We had a delicious meal. We love their homemade sodas (Yuzu is my fav), cevichi, monkfish and the Moroccan chicken breast dish and the desserts! The one dish we did not care for was the pull apart bread. I highly recommend going there."

"Nice decor - perhaps would go for a drink on an off hour. Even though the restaurant was not crowded when I arrived, they would not seat us until our party was complete. No seats at the bar to wait. They should tell you it is communal seating, because that is how close the tables are. They put 9 people next to us at a table for 6. Impossible to hear anybody at your own table or your server -

Food.....poutine was the only thing we liked, but it was rather expensive - everything else was overcooked and salty. Had a hard time finding things that we wanted to order. Mercadito and Tavernita are so much more enjoyable......"

"My wife and I are spending a romantic weekend in Chicago. We arrived at the Talbott Hotel with minutes to spare before our reservation. (Snow in Toronto). The table wasnt ready, but we spent an enjoyable 15 minutes at the bar. $13 glasses of wine - expensive, but no different than most hotel bars we've been in.Our waiter and the other staff that served us were excellent. Explained the tapas style (sharing plates) of serving - although the types of dishes are not traditionally shared. The restaurant was packed, really loud and tables were close together. On some occassions this may have put us off, but the experience there was well worth it.Excellent food. We'd go back for sure!"
