"I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch at Cafe Navarre. The hostess greeted me at the door. She made conversation with me while taking me to my table. The service pace was perfect. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Looking forward to a return visit when business takes me back to South Bend!"

"My husband and I have eaten at Cafe Navarre before and had a great time. However our return visit was not so great. The waitress looked frazzled and didn't want to be there. The food was slightly above average. And we were stuck in a back room where we didn't have any natural light. Kind of a bummer for me.
We had made a reservation well in advance so I felt we should have been given a decent location within the restaurant.
I will return because of my first experience but I'm hoping it was just an off night for the restaurant."

"What a terrific makeover of an historic building. The spaces, the colors, the natural and artificial light are all first rate. The bar is a glamorous semi circle with a large array of bottles sparkling in the window onto the street. There are many and varied choices of seating depending on one's mood and the nature of one's business. The bar is wonderful in and of itself for a single person or a couple but should you come in with others there are high top tables in the bar area as well. If you want a booth for two, three or four there are plenty of them on the lower level..They give you your own private space but if you really want privacy and/or perhaps romance go up to the second level and sit at one one the tables along the balcony."

"Cafe Navarre was absolutely great! The service was wonderful and the food was outstanding. The waiter was fast, friendly and caring. He was awesome. We sat upstairs and it was right after work at 5:45PM so it was very quite. Which was great because I was there for mainly a business meeting.
I'd recommend this resturant to anyone. It's in a grown, sexy and romantic setting. I'm not even sure if children are permitted with the long bar and it doesn't open up until 4:00PM.

"The food at Navaree Grill is outstanding. This is the second time for me eating here and it did not disappoint. The mushroom soup was delicious. The big eye tuna appetizer was very good, but the portion was not very big for the price. The ahi tuna at Ruth's Chris is a better value. My entree was fantasic! Striped Sea Bass with risoto and green beans was out of this world!

"We went for wine and small plates and wine, and it was amazing. The Foie Gras was to die for, as was the wild mushroom soup. We also enjoyed the Japanese pumpkin soup, beef carpaccio, and roasted cauliflower. My son commented that the lemonade was the best on the planet. The restaurant has a very cosmopolitain feel. It is housed in an old bank building that was renovated several years ago into a stylish space that blends hundred year old charm with modern aesthetics. I highly recommend this place for special occasions and romantic dinners."

"We appreciate the vegan dish on the menu, thank you! For my part I had an excellent "plat du jour:" skatewing. On the other hand the "jamon serrano" was lacking in flavor. Nonetheless these dishes are a nice effort considering our area that is so traditional in its food choices. Nice wine list with a number of reasonably priced wines."

"Oh my god, this really is a gem here in South Bend. There's finally a place where I can order meat. Cafe Navarre is committed to purchasing their meat from a sustainable farm!

"About a half hour or more wait for our table with reservation but we did have a big party. Sat near the kitchen , which wasn't the greatest. The wine was great, the service was good and the food was phenomenal. They did give us extra desserts for our wait which was nice. a little pricey but all in all a good experience - we will come back."

"For the prices, this meal was just ok. Took my Mom out for a nice dinner and the atmosphere is very nice in an old historic looking building. We both ordered Fillets, I ordered Medium Rare, she ordered Medium. We both had to send them back, mine was literally barely seared and hers was Medium Rare. Then when they brought our plates back out, they gave us each other's steaks, so we just swapped. They comp'd free desserts, but for the prices at this restaurant, this shouldn't happen. We had a nice waitress, so that helped. Great wine list and beer list. I would probably try it again because it is nice for South Bend."

"Best friend and I went there for lunch and really enjoyed it overall. The food was delicious (especially the French onion soup) and served promptly. Our server was attentive without being intrusive and was not put off by two silly women who couldn't stop giggling over everything once they had one Lemon Drop (we don't know when we became light-weights). It also was nice to have drinks from a bar that knows how to correctly prepare a cocktail with quality liqueurs."

"We celebrated our anniversary there and we had a fabulous meal and great service. We knew we were competing with the theater crowd that needed to be out on time, so service was probably a tad slower than normal, but it wasn't too bad. This was our fourth visit to Cafe Navarre, and each time we've had a great experience and excellent food. We really appreciate the vegetarian options."
