J. Baldwin's Restaurant
In 2004, after spending more than 20 years at fine establishments such as the Van Dyke Place Restaurant, the Whitney Restaurant, and Mac & Ray's, Chef Jeff Baldwin opened up his own restaurant and catering company, J.Baldwin's, featuring his award winning stone fired pizza.
His goal was to be able to recreate a gourmet dining experience that fits with today's busy lifestyles. The way we see it, you should be able to enjoy the taste of gourmet - at your convenience, not just on special occasions when time permits. J.Baldwin's Restaurant and To-Go is the result of that dream.
More than 7 years later, that dream continues. The restaurant is busier than ever, and the catering division has grown by leaps and bounds! We are able to cater any event...from small intimate dinner parties, to weddings of 200 people or more. "J. Balwin's was great! As a frequent patron I rec'd a free entree and 2 free desserts for my birthday. Everyone in my party of 4 loved their food selection. It was a little loud. We had a reservation and were seated promptly.I can't wait to go back."

"What an amazing find. GREAT food and a friendly staff at pretty reasonable prices. The Chef has developed his trade so well over the years, I am surprised at the pricing and incredible selection of food. I have been there 5 times in the last year and I always try to find something different for an entrée, never to be disappointed. I would strongly recommend a visit."

"We have been going to J. Baldwin's for years. It definitely is energetic, noisy at times. The views of the kitchen are fun to watch. Jeff checks each dish going out - that is definitely pride in your product. The calamari is the best, sautéed vs fried gives it that fresh flavor."

"We've been to J.Baldwin's many times and we have NEVER been disappointed. You can't get food of this caliber anywhere in the area. We've never had a bad meal, and the service is top notch. Love that the owners are always chatting with their guests, making sure that everything is perfect.
They also do incredible catering, both in their restaurant and at your place. They catered my daughter's graduation party, and I've attended numerous showers, birthday and anniversary parties catered by J.Baldwin's. I would highly recommend them to anyone!"

"This has always been one of our favorites however service was not good this visit. Had to remind our waitress multiple times about drinks, our order was not taken until well after our appetizers were brought to the table and she offered us more dinner rolls but took about 20 minutes to follow through. We will still go back because the food and atmosphere are so good and have never had a service issue in the past."

"Outstanding food, but they need to expand! I cannot stand waiting in the bar/live music/kitchen traffic/host stand area waiting for my table (right in front of the revolving door - freezing during Michigan winters). This place consistently serves us great food, the owners always walk around making sure everyone is enjoying themselves and have everything they need. But, even if you have reservations, you must wait and the wait is uncomfortable and way too crowded. Of course, that hasn't stopped me from returning. I just can't resist their scallops and calamari!"

"J Baldwin's great! We started with a cosmo served in a glass made of ice, which sat in another glass. The drink was always ice cold - just the way I like it! They have a nice wine list....and, they decanters that they pour red wine in to to allow it to get some air. We had pizza - which is one of their specialties - but there were several things on the menu I would like to try. The service was great. I really enjoyed the overall experience. Also, Chef Baldwin stopped by our table to see how everything was - nice touch. Will definitly go back."

"It was obvious the waiter had little to no interest in our table because we were not purchasing alcohol. The food was priced a little too high to not include a salad or side dish. We frequent many fine restaurants and find it tacky when you are charged additionally for sides or salads, most people would be happy to pay a little bit more for the entree and have it include your salad and side dish."

"If you have never been there - this is a must!! We love it here. All of their dishes look amazing how they are presented. I think when Chef Jeff comes around the tables (if he is able) to talk with the customers is always a plus for a restaurant. Staff is amazing too!"

"Great food but super busy! They were 30 minutes late having a table for us even with the reservation. There is no real waiting area so it's very crammed until you get seated. Food worth 30 minute wait just wish there was a better waiting area."

"Our waiter was very knowledge and attentive. My husband ordered the stuffed pork chop which was tender & moist. I ordered the Bone-In Ribeye and it was fantastic. It was tender, juicey and cooked just as I requested. This has become our favorite restaurant."

"This was my first venture to J. Baldwin's and it is sure to be one of my favorite restauarants. They have a broad menu (pasta to filet to swordfish to pizza) with seasonal and daily selections that are always changing... and don't get me started on the iced martinis that are literally served in ice!"

"Your restaurant is one of my fav. to dine, i was with a friend of mine. Service was very slow. We waited over 45 min for our food. My friend cancled her dinner. After 45 min the waitress had explained to use they were doing a party, if she had explained that in the beginning their may not have been any issues."
