"Everything we tried was fantastic. We ended up getting a bunch of small plates and starters since there was just too much on the menu that we wanted. Both the strawberry and apple and pear salads were good sized so as not to spoil appetites for the rest of the meal. And both were good. Alligator sausage was really wonderful as was the tuna cone. But by far...the sweet potato beignet was my winner. I could go back and just eat that...my companion and I were fighting over them.
All in all, I would highly recommend."

"We went to SoBou per a recommendation from a restauranteur in Tallahassee who is from New Orleans. It was great. Different type of foods but everything we tried was wonderful. Get several small plates and share - the shrimp & tasso pincho was yummy. Sleek interior ... naive New Orlean server who was very helpful and knew her menu! Will definitely return."

"If you want a premium cocktail in the quarter this place is great, as far as the food goes it's more like small bar food portions. DONT order the cracklin, its gas station pork skins with some paprika on it. Not even close to real cracklin. Service was slow and lacking for 530 in the afternoon."

"We dined as a party of four women & we had an amazing time! The chicken was so Nom Nom Nom!!! Our waitress was friendly, and she was on time with everything. The only downfall was the annoying group of drunks beside us & behind us. SoBou is not a large restaurant so it can become extremely loud at times. The food however will shut people up! :) Overall it was a great experience and we will be returning."

"This is my for sure stop when I'm in New Orleans. If I only have time for one restaurant, it's SoBou. Perfect New Orleans experience. One of the best restaurants I have ever dine with. It has it all. Trendy, good food, exceptional service and a wine list to impress. Ask for Marcus, he's the best waiter in town. And try the gumbo."

"The fois a gras beignets were absolutely divine. Our server, Karen G, was just wonderful - extremely attentive, friendly, everything you want in a server. The atmosphere was great, the rest of the food was fine too - except for the strawberry salad. The salad was bitter and too spicey. I do not recommend in, nor would I order it again. Everything else was perfect for a birthday dinner."

"We went to SoBou on the recommendation of some friends who live in the area. DID NOT DISAPPOINT. We were with a group who flew in from all over the place to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. Everything about SoBou was amazing, from our server to the food to the atmosphere...it was our favorite place in New Orleans. They helped us celebrate and it was fabulous!"

"Order two entrees and get a martini for $.25 w limit of 3. And the fresh pork cracklings were only a $1 for a whole come. Crisp, well seasoned and not oily at all. Generous portions and a surprisingly good deal for a restaurant inside the W hotel!"

"Very loud rock type music playing at first along with the customers talking. Bartender would start wacking at something every now and then, the sound was excruciating. No tablecloths. needed a flashlight to read the menu. asked what type of meat was in the Beef Cheeks, waiter pointed to his cheeks. it was really just tender short ribs. husband had the pasta and it was terrible, very bland the pasta was stuck together so when you picked it up with a fork you got this big glob. We showed it to a waitress and she just said that is was Pappardelle, walked away. ALthough homemade it was not properly cooked. The couple sitting next to us were laughing when they saw how unappetizing it looked. We really should have sent it back to the chef,"

"Our dinner experience at SoBou for my husband's birthday was fantastic. Great cocktails, fabulously tasty dishes (that crispy chicken? to die for!) and wonderful service. The valet recommended the butternut squash beignets, and he was a wise man indeed. Our server was helpful in making menu and cocktail suggestions, and the ambiance was great. It was one of our favorite dining experiences of the past few years!"

"Absolutely delicious. Slightly more casual than other Brennan's restaurants but not a shorts and athletic shoes kind of place! Drinks were tasty and reasonable (try their two bit cocktails!). We ordered some tasty snacks and they were delish. Entrees were fab and also reasonably priced. Our server was great -- attentive but not overly so and kept the iced tea refills coming.
Highly recommended for lunch and will go back for dinner!"

"Sobou is a great place to have a cocktail and nosh on interesting appetizers and (very) small plates. There are some hiccups though. We ordered an array of "snacks" as appetizers for the four of us. Some, like the tuna tartar cone were outstanding. What the menu referred to as "cracklins" were nothing like the dreamy, crispy AND chewy gems that we get in cajun country or even at local places that take their pork seriously like Toups Meatery. What Sobou refers to as "cracklins" are simply crispy pork rinds. Though served hot, when they cool, they will be indistinguishable from the junk you buy at a convenience store. We were hungry, so we skipped the small plates for the large plates. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: Please look up the word "Large.""

"Great cocktails and wonderful tasting menu. The shrimp & tasso pinchos with pineapple was yummy and the gumbo was the absolute best one in NO -- very different style - but amazing! I think the bar area or front portion of the restaurant has more ambiance - so request that area."

"So sorry to say we were very disappointed in our evening. Twice food that was not ours was delivered to our table. Our entrees were delivered about 4 minutes after our appetizers. Mediocre food served in a VERY loud saloon atmosphere. I know this is supposed to be a restaurant that focuses on cocktails and fun but I think the food got lost in the mix."

"I love the food at SoBou but the service is still in desperate need of work. The front of the house "forgot about us" after sending us to the bar for drinks while they got the table ready....it was supposed to be about 10 minutes and after a half hour we finally asked and we were told they 'lost' us....table service was also quite slow and then ALL dishes came out at once which was odd...but the food is really good so I will be back."

"we had 8:30 reservations on Sunday night and were seated promptly when we arrived We waited 25 minutes to get a drink. Seems that one of the bartenders was out on the floor chatting up some customers. Our server checked back a couple of times but seemed hopeless about getting any service from the bar. the food comes out fast after you order, so wait till you get your cocktails before you order. The decor was very cool and modern. Food was good, but portions very small. Desert was great. With all of the great choices in NO, I probably won't go back."

"Seated in foyer dining area, felt like the curse of the outside seat. Started off well enough with drinks as the chef and manager brought out plates. After that server forget to serve as we only had one drink for the entire meal.
Short ribs were fall of the bone tender and tasty but side of spicy cotton candy rock hard. Oyster Taco was the best plate.
Pretty forgettable night and probably will not return."

"Our server Karen was very warm and knowledgeable about the menu. We ate: 1. Cochon du Lait Gumbo - 5 stars, the best thing we ate! 2. Cracked olives - good accompaniment to the cheese plate and bloody mary 3. Butternut squah beignets - consistency of hushpuppies, ok 4. Cheese plate - no choice of cheeses, good crackers 5. Beef short ribs and grits - delicious 6. Apple and Pear salad - nice contrast to the other items we ordered
The brunch was very leisurely, we'll be back!"

"SoBou is amazing. It came recommended by a NOLA local and it did not disappoint. A very modern oasis in the middle of the french quarter, SoBou delivered very moderately priced small plates that left us feeling quite full. The sweet potato duck beignets were unbelievable, as was the smoked bacon mac n cheese. My lady and I also split the small bites burger with caramelized onions ($7) and some pork cracklins ($1)...both of which were great. The service was excellent and very friendly. I will definitely make it back there next time I am in New Orleans."

"The brunch menu was varied- the egg dish was served in a small cast iron pot which made for a perfect sized entree- not too big nor too small. I enjoyed the Lady Ella cocktail as an addition to the brunch, and we finished with the cherries jubilee bread pudding which was quite good. Our server was delightful, the decore is contemporary and open. I would recommend, and hope one day to be back in the city to try dinner here."

"Food was good. A Brennon restaurant should be spectacular. Waiter took our plates before we were finished and didn't ask first. Had to ask for the check 20 minutes after we finished our dessert. Waited on dessert for 25 minutes. Service was slow and for Easter Sunday at 2:00pm there were only a handful of tables. Overall it was ok but won't rush back any time soon."

"This was my first visit to SoBou after having read about it in Esquire magazine a few months ago, so I was very excited to try it, and it certainly met and exceeded expectations.
The food and drinks were incredible, our waitress, Ruby, was delightful, and the prices were very reasonable given the quality of the cuisine.
I highly recommend SoBou and can't wait to return myself."

"The restaurant is visually beautiful. We found the menu to be a little challenging with regard to offerings. Food was very good with some creative twists. Salad portion was very small and overall the food was warm but not hot - probably a pet peeve of my own. With all the choices in New Orleans, it wouldn't be a "must return" for an especially memorable dish but I would go again. We read several comments about bad service in advance. I agree with the comments regarding the hostess (we were worried as she appeared to be pained to welcome us) but our server and accompanying waitstaff were very good and dining was enjoyable at a relaxed pace."

"The food is worth the visit. I had some of the same experiences others had written about. They attempted to put us in the back even though most of the tables were empty at the time we arrived. We would have none of that. They were out of our first to choices of wine. I would have to say that the wine prices are very reasonable. I thought the seats were fairly uncomfortable since the backs of the benchs can up to my lower back and I thought the atmosphere was a little cold. That being said, the food was very, very good. Although the menu is small and quite frankly not very engaging. The duck leg confi I had was superb. My wife had the flat iron steak which she shared with me. Done to perfection."

"SoBou is a contemporary take on the best of hotel restaurants -- trendsetting and new, but comfortable enought to accomodate the needs of diverse hotel clientele. With its several rooms, it manages to be hipster bar and kid friendly restaurant, all stitched together with incredibly friendly and genuine staff, and pretty darn good food. My son and I had a late, light dinner at SoBou (after an indulgent day of eating in the French Quarter), and SoBou's small plates format makes it a perfect choice for that kind of flexible, off hours noshing. The gumbo and bisque both excelled in the quality and complexity of flavor. The SoBou small burger was flavorful and well-cooked. The selection of wines by the glass is outstanding."

"We had a fabulous time. The food was intriguing. Not giving it a 5 star because the menu Is a bit confused and yet magnificent. Amongst the stand outs..apple & pear salad, sobou burger ( the smaller one), the yellowfin tuna cones. The tuna cones were a bit messy to eat but delicious and surprising. Other guests loved the pork cracklin. The wine list eclectic. A trip to New Orleans should include this new, innovative , delicious restaurant. You will not be disappointed."

"This is not the place to go if A) You want attentive service or B) You are vegetarian. I'd heard all of the hype about SoBou and I was underwhelmed. My husband is a meat-eater and had a slightly better experience than me. We both feeling like the service should've been better considering how much we spent on food and drinks. If you want an incredible dining experience, go to Stella instead."

"We usually go to Commander's Palace for the jazz brunch. We have been there so many times in the past year that we decided to try Soubou. We went to Soubou for a late breakfast. The menu was so odd we decided to order the side orders offered. I did order the apple/pear salad which was very good. The wait staff seemed indifferent and aloof. Not a friendly place at all. "I actually went twice. There are several wines by the glass, but both times, ordering two different wines, they were out of both, leading to having to select a much higher priced glass. (on the good side, you can order a 1/2 glass of wine). The second visit was late lunch. There were many tables available so we asked for one of several near the front window. Instead we were shuttled to a back room simply because our hostess wished to balance out diners to servers. So my question is--who works for whom. I really wanted to love the place but..."
