Blending 26 years of tradition with innovative Italian cooking, Il Tinello provides a rich experience that can only be matched by its delicious menu. The quality Italian ingredients, spectacular wine list and impeccable service showcase the restaurant's heritage, while the classy decoration brings new energy to every meal. The fresh homemade pastas, regional ingredients and diverse wine list boast of what's to come, yet the classics and traditions continue to tempt. Never intimidating and always comfortable, Il Tinello delivers an experience that is perfect to celebrate your big day or every day.
"The staff was energetic, friendly, and helpful while not being intrusive. Food was excellent and the menu was well thought out. YELP has this listed as "casual" but I believe it's more "upscale". We felt a bit out of place as we were dressed to match the casual description. I would definitely return to this restaurant and recommend it to others."

"Our second time at Il Tinello, and we were not disappointed. The reservation was ready on time, the staff is cordial and efficient, the food was hot and delicious. The atmosphere is charming and the wait staff wants to do whatever you would like. The maitre d' checks occasionally and is most pleasant. Like most of New York good restaurants, the prices are a bit high, but well worth it. The tables are not jammed together, and the noise level is not distracting. I give Il Tinello high marks."

"We have been enjoying Il Tinello for more than ten years. The food is always wonderful (Caesar salad, Dover sole, zabaglione!), the service professional AND friendly - not easy to accomplish - and the setting attractive. A pre-Christmas dinner with our children and grandchildren is a traditional highlight of our holiday season."

"2/3 of the staff spent their time visiting our table all too regularly. Different people kept interrupting our meal asking if the food was ok. We were hoping for a quiet evening, but we left feeling like we didn't even have privacy. Ironically, when we were done eating, they left us alone... until we finally needed to track one of them down to ask for a check.
There are plenty of other options within a two block radius. It won't be hard to find better food and service."

"Great menu, delicious food, and excellent service. The host and waiters couldn't be nicer, they were attentive and very friendly. An extensive menu with many great selections and specials to choose from. The snapper on the menu was delicious, very fresh. My family and I will definitely go back, maybe we'll see Regis!"

"Food was extremely tasty. It was just a little pricy but good for a special treat. Love that the caesar salad is made in front of you as are some of the deserts. The veal could be cut with a fork and my husband loved the bronzino."

"A meal to remember! My husband and I dined here recently on a recommendation and we were pleasantly pleased. We had tickets for a show and the staff made sure we were out on time. We enjoyed an exceptional bottle of Italian wine as suggested by our waiter. We started with the Shrimp Scampi, Caesar salad, and an appetizer portion of Spaghetti Carbonara. They all were excellently prepared. The salad was the best I've ever had. The entrees were just as delicious as the appetizers (oriechetti pasta and the lamb special). The tiramisu was to die for! Great meal all around."

"We had a lovely meal, with an attentive wait staff and some marvelous food - Dover sole, Veal Milanese, Chicken Saltimbocca and Veal Bianco - and a fabulous Zabaglione prepared table side. The maitre 'd was charming and friendly. My only criticism: while waiting for our table we sat at the bar and ordered 3 drinks - a Crown Royal Manhattan, a Beefeater martini, and a glass of house Pinot Grigio (poured out of a 2-liter bottle). Not only did the Manhattan have way, way too much Vermouth in it, but the martini was served in a wine glass because they were out of clean martini glasses! And our bill for these 3 drinks? $50.00!! ( And, I admit to a pet peeve of having drinks served in commercial-grade barware at a restaurant of this caliber."

"WOW! Dinner was fantastic! First, the service is Michelin quality. Second, the food was perfect - presentation, flavor, timing of courses. We were four and we each had one of the specials - each was fantastic. The wine menu is hard to read because it is all labels, but the sommalier helped us find a reasonably priced wine that was awesome. I highly recommend this restaurant for a special dinner, and I can't wait to go back! We loved the food and the environment so much, we lost track of time and got to the theater late!!!"

"This is quite a find! It is a bit expensive (dinner for two with one drink and dessert was $160), but it was well worth it! The meal began with a quiet glass of wine. It then went on to Bruschetta compliments of the chef, then to salads which were fresh and wonderful. Mine had prosciutto and honey dipped walnuts as well as soft mozzarella. The pasta is homemade so we tried that and were not disappointed. I had the agnoletti and my husband had the arribiata sauce on spaghetti. The dessert were equally wonderful, including profiteroles and fresh berries with cream. One review said it is upscale but not pretentious and I would agree. We were early, but by the time we left the place was full of custoers who were greeted by name."

"The Saturday night we attended had VERY good food which should have been very enjoyable. Unfortunately the service was so far below the standards set by the kitchen that the entire experience was a loss. The bread was late. We ordered two bottles of wine; instead of a high quality Amarone, the server brought a middle line cabernet. Several times we had to pour our own wines after waiting for assistance. The maitre'd grabbed the bottle once but ignored us after that. There were other issues, but you get the drift. If you want an imaginative take on well prepared Northern Italian specialties in attractive surroundings, try this on a non-weekend night. Regretfully, I will not be returning except perhaps as a takeout."

"Great service! Some dishes were outstanding, especially the fresh mozzarella with prosciutto! Bananas flambe also. These were both specials. Lovely ambience too. Very good restaurant. Prices on specials were a little high."

"Whenever we are in Manhattan, we eat at Il Tinello. The food and service are normally excellent. This particular time was not great. I ordered a special, rack of lamb, medium as suggested. The lamb chops were tough to begin with and overcooked to well done which made them even tougher, could barely cut them with a steak knife. I had to send them back. However, stuff happens and the staff outdid themselves to make up for it. The lamb, of course, was taken off of the bill and they offered us both dessert, coffee and after-dinner drinks gratis. My wife had gnocchi which was not on the menu but which they provided, although the price that we were charged for some pasta, $39.95, seems a bit steep even for Manhattan."

"Great selection off the cart for antipasato. Tableside Caesar salad preparation--very skilled. Dessert cart. All very old school.
Pasta dishes are available as small servings (Italian size) or full servings (American size). Had home-made green and white pasta with fresh seafood. Outstanding.
Antipasti: Outstanding.
Efficient service.
While food prices for an Italian restaurant of this caliber in this neighborhood are fair (which is to say $$$), the wine list is quite expensive.
Will be back. Great place for both business dinners and for special occasions."

"3 of us went for lunch because our friend had it highly recommended to her. 2 of us had the special scallop appetizer for our "main" which although good, wasn't as described. It was basically old-fashioned Coquilles St Jacques, served on a clam shell. Although tasty I was disappointed because it wasn't what I'd expected. Our friend had the pasta special which she said was good but she wasn't raving. Expensive for what we had and we had to ask the price of the specials, which I don't like. On the other hand, the service was very good with different waiters fussing over us at varying times. A somewhat old-fashioned restaurant in my opinion. What it does, it does well- I just prefer somewhere a little more upbeat and trendy."

"The food was outstanding, service was prompt but unobtrusive. It was pleasure to watch several table side dishes prepared expertly. Would recommend this lovely restaurant to any Italian food lovers. I particularly appreciated that the helpings were more than adequate, but not monstrous."

"Seasoned Wait staff are most attentive. Caesar and dover sole made/served at tableside make the meal special. Pasta dishes are outstanding. Many specials are recited with relish by servers. White table clothes and flowers give restaurant old world charm. Il Tinello is a favorite of ours during our annual NYC visit. Be pampered while enjoying great Italian classics"
