"Overall, a fine meal in a lovely setting. Two criticisms, however. First, the courses were served much too quickly and we barely had time to digest. We had 7p.m. reservations and were done ating a three course meal by 8:30. For such rich food, more time than this is necessary to be able to digest, let alone pleasureably savor, the meal. The too rapid pace was exemplified by having the after dinner chocolates served at the very same time as the dessert. This detracted from the experience, as did the fact that the meat entree was not quite the right temperature--warm but really not quite warm enough. Again, this detracted.t"

"The service was impeccable at Fleur de Lys - they pay attention to every single detail and don't let you lift a finger. The food was to die for and we had a fantastic experience start to finish. I HIGHLY recommend you get the lamb chops - I've never tasted anything so delicious."

"This is the second time I've been to Fleur de Lys in the last year, and both times were amazing. The ambiance was amazing, very romantic, the lighting was just right. The service was impeccable, all the waiters were very nice and very professional. I started with the Veal Sweetbreads, these were cooked perfectly and the morel mushrooms were amazing. Second course: Jumbo Prawns, again cooked and seasoned perfectly (as was the pork belly) and the cannellini bean emulsion was to die for. Third Course: the Beef Cheek was absolutely fantastic, like classic German cuisine elevated to a whole new level. Cheese course and dessert were fantastic as well. In general, this is still my favorite restaurant in San Francisco, and I'll definitely be back."

"This is honestly the best meal I have ever had. Presentation, atmosphere, taste, everything was amazing.

But most importantly Fleur was so amazing from service to the food that it is causing me to re-evaluate all of my previous dining experiences. This place really raises the bar!

Open table does not allow for enough words for me to truly explain the beauty in this place, but the servers, hosts, and other staff will blow you away. The presentation of the food was fun and flawless. And the delicate flavors and wonderful tastes still resonate in my mouth. Amazing!"

"From the moment we arrived to the moment we ended our visit by being escorted to our car by Hubert Keller himself, we felt like valued guests. The food was prepared with the soul and care of an artist who obviously delights in painting vivid flavor profiles for his guests. The staff clearly took much pride in what they do and who they represent as they ensured a lovely dining experience without pretense or a hint of stuffiness. We felt so welcomed...cared for...and all while being treated to a truly exceptional dining event...THANK YOU!!"

"Dinner at Fleur de Lys never fails to disappoint. The food itself was wonderful, perfect portion size full of flavor. The service was very nice as well, my only complaint being that my husband's entree was brought while he was away from the table, so our server covered the dish and the enclosed scallops became slightly overcooked. Other than that we had a fabulous experience!"

"For the price, a bit oversold, especially when compared to other similarly priced restaurants we've been to in Chicago, NY, Barcelona and St. Louis recently. But we had a lovely evening there with some friends, with attentive waiters, pleasant surroundings, interesting dishes. Would try somewhere else in SF in the future. The whole experience just didn't justify the price."

"Fleur de Lys is a premier dining experience in the heart of San Francisco. My husband and I each chose the 5 course menu and I also got the wine pairings. Each course was more delicious than the next and I found myself eating several things I normally shy away from. Chef Keller is truly an artist and everything about the experience was remarkable. We purchased a copy of Chef Keller's new cookbook and the chef himself not only autographed our copy but he met us at the front and we got to speak to him. By far one of the most memorable experiences we've had for marginally less than we usually spend on special occassions. The staff was excellent and attentive without being disruptive. Truly commendable."

"The service was great. The place is romantic. The food was good but not WOW! They sure charge for things they you don’t expect to be charge (and they won’t tell you either). For example, I don’t eat dessert. The restaurant offers only pre-fix menu so you are forced to order dessert, etc. I asked if I could have cheese instead since it was offered as a part of the 5 course menu– sure I could; however I was charged for both….I don’t recall experiencing this at any of the restaurants I have been to. Also the pre-fix price per person somehow was different on the bill than on the menu….but it was our Anniversary so we just let it go.

"The restaurant's reputation is quite well known. The food lived up to this reputation. Much to my surprise we had to ask for napkins after we were severed our food. Of greater concern is that when they did not have our wine ($90) the bottle which was substituted and quite good was not discounted ($165). Felt a bit like "bait and switch"."

"it was amazing. Service was impeccable and there seemed to be at least 2 wait staff for every table, and they were all constantly scanning to make sure guests were taken care of. Water always full, wine always full, napkins folded if you got up.

The food was absolutely incredible. Flavor, texture, presentation, all of it. It was the seminal dining experience of my life, and I am 37!

"The food is truly a work of art. It encourages one to eat slowly in order to experience all of the amazing flavor and texture inspirations.

I have never spent so much money on a meal and usually, when I eat out I do not think what I have eaten is worth the amount of money I spend. This is an absolute exception. A rare and special experience.

Everyone should eat here at least once in their life if and when you have a few hundred dollars to celebrate with!!"

"To give you an idea of how much we enjoy this restaurant, my girlfriend and I flew up from Los Angeles just to go to dinner there - which has become a tradition - for our anniversary. In a word: perfect. We couldn't be more pleased. Every detail of the evening triggers a pleasant memory. From the excellent cocktails at the bar with Frank, to the always over the top cuisine expertly paired with Marcus' wine selections, to the informed, attentive table side service of Gabriella and Vincent, I wouldn't change a thing. We just had a marvelous time."

"Celebrated our half year anniversary at Fleur de Lys. The food was delicious, the staff super friendly, knowledgeable and attentive and the ambiance was very warm and comfortable. We were able to chat without feeling like the nearby diners were part of our conversation. Yes, the portions aren't huge, but we thought the three course menu was perfect. Then again, we're not big eaters! Very enjoyable meal and the staff surprised us with a complimentary dessert in celebration of our anniversary. Very sweet."

"My husband and I had a wonderful time. We choose to do the five course pairing menu with wine and we allowed our server and the chief to choose the courses. Our server, Steve, was a Sommelier in training and did a magnificent job selecting and describing each wine for the courses presented. The venison chop was perfectly prepared and was just one of the many incredible food dishes served that evening. We finished our food journey with a lovely assortment of French cheeses and then with a chocolate soufflé. Our experience with the food and services were both outstanding. My husband and I will defiantly return to enjoy another fabulous meal."

"Our evening at Fleur de Lys was absolutely outstanding. We thought the wine pairing also made the meal that much more special. "Beautiful restaurant. Beautiful food, artfully presented and plated. The food was delicious, but somehow I expected a bit more from a flavor perspective. The wine list was impressive at the top end but perhaps a bit top-heavy. Also desert wine selections could be improved. The sommelier was fantastic, though. The cheese plate was superlative as well. The chef was very friendly and personable, and greeted each table personally, impressive for one as renowned as Hubert Keller. The service was quite good as expected, but not superlative, and the server's lack of wine expertise was thankfully supplemented nicely by a very informative sommelier, who was only too eager to share his compendious knowledge. Overall, we had an excellent time"

"This was our first visit to Fleur de Lys and we were quite impressed with the food selection. Smallish portions, but fills you up

Chocolate Souffle - Highly Recommend this. The Couple next to us seemed to enjoy the Grand Marnier Souffle, so you can't seem to go wrong with the souffle.

Swordfish - Was just OK. The side was significantly better and made the course.

"Aasparagus salad with foie gras was superb. All the other dishes were great, too, although tomate-based sauce for sea bass was a little too sour to me and souffle was good but a little too spongy. On-the-house ors d'oeuvre dishes came in a very good combination of tastes. Then, I can say that what makes this restaurant so special is their excellent services. They were all (yes, all) friendly and very attentive. When you need something, you don't have to wait to get it. And none of them have any "upscale restaurant" staff attidude --- polite but a little snobbish and not really smiling to you unless you order a $100 or over bottle of wine. Price"

"We return to Fleur de Lys for special occasions. It is romantic, intimate and welcoming. We have opted for the paired tasting menu the last two times we have ventured into this restaurant. The chef and sommelier were absolutely fantastic mixing and matching food with wine. The wine list is quite extensive with predominantly french wine (of course) but on the expensive side. The tasting menu solves this problem by providing diners with excellent wine for each course that you might otherwise not ever discover. The service was excellent and it is little wonder that this restaurant has always been listed among the top restaurants in San Francisco."

"This meal was the highlight of our time in San Francisco. I've been a fan of Chef Keller for a while now, and I'm so glad the experience we had will keep me positive opinions of him! "The entire experience was wonderful. The staff members were all super polite and friendly. They called me the day before to confirm the reservation and asked if we were celebrating anything special. I said it was for an anniversary. At the end of dinner, we were given a chocolate mousse cake with "Happy Anniversary" written on the plate. It was delicious. We had the four course dinner but I think the three course dinner is enough food because we were so full. They also give petit fours at the end of the meal which we ended up taking home because we couldn't eat another thing. One of my choices was the duck which was cooked to perfection. The filet mignon was delicious but it had a strong truffle taste."

"Fleur de Lys is a little bit of Paris in San Francisco. The food was truly amazing in taste, quality and presentation, the wine pairings spot on, and the service was attentive yet non-obtrusive. It the place pricey? You bet but if you approach a superb dinner such as this as an evening out to be enjoyed and savored, this is certainly the place to be. "We had a wonderful experience at Fleur de Lys. The room is lovely, festive and quite. We requested a private table and the restaurant accomodated us. Thes service was excellent. The food was a treat - beautiful presentation, wonderful sauces and overall delicious.

My only complaint was the price of the two glasses of champagne we ordered to start. The waiter recommended a particular vintage. We did not have a copy of the wines by the glass in front of us so we didn't have any idea of the price. When the bill arrived I saw a charge of 50 dollars for the champagne and thought they had made a mistake They hadn't. Had we known we would have ordered a different apertif. The bottle of wine we ordered cost less than the champagne."

"I had wanted to eat here for years. Food was portioned so small I was not even closed to being satified. The Kobe beefcheeks were ,and I am being generous wall all of 2 ounces.

"Our experience was good, not great, with uneven service and food quality. We were initially seated next to a busy and noisy serving station, even though the restaurant was nearly empty; however, our request for a different table was handled well. Some of our menu selections were excellent (e.g., a foie gras mini-burger included in one appetizer dish), and several of the side dishes were just not good (roasted parsnips were undercooked and seemingly unseasoned), many dishes good but not overwhelming. The service overall was attentive but not overly friendly, and the sommelier seemed to pick wine pairings based more on fascination with the "story" of the winery than the flavor profile of the menu selection."

"Food was delish and very filling. Ambiance was okay, but I was expecting more romance. Lighting was too bright and tables are too close together - no sense of privacy. The crowd here is also of the richer, snootier kind, so happy, money-is-not-the-center-of-my-life people won't feel comfortable here. Front desk girls and servers are great, but I was very disappointed with our waitress and the guy who brought us our wine (sommelier?). The waitress was tense and moody who made us feel like we were annoying school kids and was pretty rude to my BF at one point - we were both shocked. The sommelier was beyond narcissistic and snarky and also made a comment I thought was completely inappropriate. If this were my restaurant, he'd be a goner!"

"The restuarant is absolutely beautiful. The service is stellar and all the staff will take care of whatever they see needs attention regardless whose table it is. I have never been in a restaurant that did not have salt and pepper shakers on the table which shows the kitchen's confidence in their seasoning and I did not need any addition to the perfectly seasoned dishes. "If you don't already know who Hubert Keller is, Google the name. Once you have read everything about him, and how amazing a master chef he is,Belive it. Now just imagine how incredible a restaurant would be if everything you read was true. That's Fleur de Lys.
I've traveled the world and had a chance to taste great cooking from many places and I have to say, Hubert has a way of making new combinations of tastes that I've never had before. Twice during our meal there were main ingredients that I just knew I wouldn't like, but I kept and open mind and ordered them anyway. When the meal came, I was converted into a lover of those very ingredients that I never liked before. The wine pairing was amazing, every wine selected was perfect."

"We took our 2 teenager foodie-to-be children there for our 19th anniversary. It was a memorable evening!. We were greeted by his staff, led by his beautiful and charming wife, Chantal. The 4 course meal was excellent for every one of us. We tried to order different things. The meat course offered the WOW factor of the evening, but all courses were presented so artfully. We even had a picture taken with the talented, gentle,and ready to please chef,Hubert,in his own kitchen. My children and I will try all the burger recipes from his book, personnally autograghed for us. We will return next time we visit California( from Maryland), and will send our west coast family for special occasions. Chantal et Hubert, nous vous remercions beaucoup!TN"

"Simply the best! Chef Hubert Keller does not disappoint. The food was amazing. The menu was separated into "appetizers", "fish and seafood", "meat, poultry, and game", and "desserts." We had the option for a three, four or five course menu which game you the chance to have a sampling of each of these sections. The five course menu gave you an option to sample each course on the menu as well as an additional chesse course. Everything was amazingly flavorful and the presentations were exquisite! The prices were incredibly reasonable considering how much food you received and how incredible everything was. We were very happy with our experience and will definitly go back the next time we are in San Francisco."

"The flavors were lovely but truly it was the delicate textures of the food that caused little epiphanies for me.

As is the case with a cinematic auteur, here a director of another kind creates a total atmosphere.

I commented to Monsieur Keller, at evening's end, that the great thoughtfulness and care shown by his entire staff sincerely facilitated and completed a special experience- that was my thought- however after champagne and 4 wine pairings I believe all I was able to say was "your staff was really great" and "have you seen my umbrella?"

No detail was overlooked.

Fleur De Lys gets very close to perfect, and when you realize that every component has hit the right note, and you can simply relax and enjoy your company- i"

"After all the press the chef has received lately, and seeing him on TopChef, we thought we should finaly try FleurDeLys. Totally dissapointing for the money spent. Bridge and tunnel crowd. Nothing was spectacular. I'd pick Gary Danko any day of the week for a big night out. We won't go back."

"Beautiful restaurant. Service was impeccable, food was delicious. However, I was taken aback when we were charged for the champagne that was offered to us while we waited for our table to be ready. I was under the impression we were being offered the champagne because we had to wait for a table. I was wrong and had an extra $50 on my bill. Also, we were given seats in the side room next to a fireplace rather than the main dining room. Had to change seats with dining partner because we would get too hot. Staff offered to turn off fireplace, but as we were not the only ones eating in the side room, it didn't seem right to turn off fireplace for everyone in the room. Our waiter was wonderful and made the occasion personal and memorable."

"The food was absolutely wonderful! I ordered the 4 course meal and enjoyed the fact that the food is portioned to accomodate the number of plates you will receive. I ordered the seared filet mignon and didn't need a knife to cut it - YUM!! The dish also came with a "mac&cheese" side dish that I could have bathed in!! Loved the Grand Marnier souffle!"

"Very pleasurable experience! The food was for the most part exquisite, with just a few very little slips. The wine pairings were excellent choices that complemented the food perfectly. "Although I rate Fleur de Lys good, it was a disappointing experience. We had very high hopes for the food since we admire Hubert Keller so much, however it seems that the food is trapped in the 80's. It had outstanding presentation, perfect execution, quite a bit of creativity, but it felt at times, a little gimicky or dated. The value for the money wasn't there and what ultimately downgraded them in our mind as good instead of very good.

The restaurant design has to be seen to be believe...utterly romantic and sumptuous, but in the end the food rules the day and we felt that we wouldn't return. Maybe I just don't get HUbert like I thought I did."

"This was an annual return visit. We were greeted and seated promptly. An advance request for seating in a particular area was met. Restaurant manager and accomplished sommelier, Marcus Garcia, visited, just as he does with all guests, new and returning. There is a concerted effort at this restaurant to make sure that guests are made to feel welcome. Each dish is presented and described. Portions are small, but because of the variety of dishes, both ordered and complementary, no one leaves hungry. Service is attentive, but never obtrusive. Fleur de Lys remains one of San Francisco's and America's premier occasion restaurants. While the dishes change and update regularly, nothing changes in the quality of service, ambiance, and food."

"Fleur de Lys has exceptional customer service and innovative but straightforward food that tastes delicious. We originally had 6:15pm reservations. We called to cancel same day due to work commitments that ran over. Instead, they offered to seat us later in the evening to accommodate us. They were warm and friendly about it and didn't us make us feel bad. When we arrived we were instantly greeted by several front of house and they wished my husband a Happy Birthday. The restaurant inside is warm, inviting and gorgeous without being pretentious. We had a 4 course meal that was divine and not overpriced. Stand-outs were the Seabass with tomato cooley, Prawns with crisped pork belly, braised Cheeks and the Lamb. We'll be back!"

"Fleur de Lys is a great 5 star restaurant to take someone special. It is about quality and not quantity. The range of taste is to die for. I had the Halibut with a dark sauce and it was just fantastic and rich flavors. It is not a stuffy restaurant and I like that very much. They are also very good at pairing the wine and the food. Compared to other 5 star restaurants, the price is reasonable. I will go there again."

"I took my girlfriend here for our 3 year anniversary and it was everything that we had hoped and more. We are both huge fans of Chef Keller and this was our opportunity to enjoy some of his amazing culinary treats; and that is exactly what the night was. "Very intimate, warm and cozy,and fantastic for special occasions. The service was perfection, my wife and I had the 4 course meal with the dessert cheeses added on. Make sure (if dining as a couple) that one of you tries the veal sweetbreads, and venison entree; super bien! It was our anniversary and they gave us a few special extras in honor of the occasion. We even got to chat up Chantal Keller, who was a great hostess."

"Awesome does not do justice to this restaurant and the experience! It is delightfully quiet...could not hear the people at the table next to us...(fortunately they also were very soft spoken) but the acoustics are perfect.
My friend and I agreed that our server, Vincent, was the classiest, most well spoken and charming person we have ever experienced. He knew exactly when to approach our table and never made us feel rushed.
My friend told me the following day that it was the best food and service she has ever had...and she has dined in the finest establishments in New York and Europe. It was absolutely wonderful and we are anxious to return!

"Fleur de Lys was a beautiful meal in a relaxed pretty environment. The food was exceptional! We had the four course menu and the size of each course was more than sufficient so that you were not feeling over full but still very satiated with the beautiful food, tastes and textures.

Absolutely recommend this restaurant for an enjoyable evening with great food in a pretty setting with friends or that special someone... not noisy so you can can hear your self think and those around you chat."

"When we travel to San Francisco, Fleur de Lys is always one of our destinations. The cuisine is extraordinary, as is the presentation. The service personnel cannot be improved; the restaurant decor, georgous and romantic."

"The food, service, and ambiance were excellent.The dress of the other diners was bad. Many were sloppy casual: faded jeans, casual cotton shirts.Their dress took away from an otherwise festive evening and setting.In one New York City restaurant recently, men were required to wear jackets."

"I loved our experience at Fleur de Lys. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the food is absolutely worth the visit. There were so many things on the menu I would have tried if I could and each plate was visually stunning. Hubert Keller got it right with this one."

"We were seated promptly for our reservation, but waited nearly 5 minutes before wait staff greeted and offered the wine list. Three other tables were seated and given their wine lists while we waited for ours. The table was romantic, though I could see the hostess station and my husband could see the kitchen door open, though he couldn't see into the kitchen. The meal overall was delicious."

"Just coming back from France and feeling snobbish, I was a little hesitant that I was about to compare SF French food with the real thing from our vacation and be disappointed. American style service is usually rushed and the SF restaurant designs are usually by default, very noisy.
Far from it, the service and the food were exquisite while noise levels were muted by the lovely draping tent-like tapestry above the dinning tables and the tapestries hanging on the walls. This made for a very pleasant environment for what was to come..THE FOOD. The six of us all ordered different items from the four course meal. This allowed us a wide variety of taste testing. Everything we had that night was memorable, Thank You Fleur de Lys"
