New South Kitchen & Bar ia a local chef's hand-crafted modern take on Southern food. Our seasonal, ingredient driven menu spotlights some of the finest ingredients the Carolinas have to offer. We take great pride in supporting family owned farms that embrace sustainable all natural farming methods. All of the beef, pork and poultry we serve are raised with no antibiotics or artificial growth hormones. And all of the seafood is sustainably fished or farmed in the waters of the Carolinas. Whenever possible we purchase our produce from farms surrounding Charlotte. We feel that utilizing as many local products as possible produces a better tasting meal, healthier guests and a stronger community.
"Great restaurant. We will definitely go again. The food is upscale southern and very well prepared. We went with a group and had the mahi, blt flatbread, vegetable plate, and deviled eggs. Everyone's plate was clean. A standout was the butter beans, perfectly cooked with a little basil added. Excellent."

"We especially appreciated they use local produce and other food products. They make almost everything in house. My only disappointment was the biscuits at brunch. They were on the tough side. Otherwise, we'll certainly return."

"Always great food and service! This time, we enjoyed the fried chicken and the grouper, preceded by chicken liver pate, fried green tomatoes, and the won-tons. All good! :-)"

"Met a business associate for Wednesday lunch and it was first time for a mid week lunch. Meat Loaf plate was good and it was an enjoyable, quiet place to visit."

"New South was a real find. It's casual but the food is sophisticated, fresh, tempting, delicious. The chef has given serious thought to his menu and turned old favorites into new and exciting variations. One can dine small or large, with a nice selection of appetizers, tapas or small plates, and entree portions - or mix and match. We tried a pate', a rabbit terrine, a small plate of cheeses, a plate of three vegetables - and everything was simply delicious. Restaurant offers a good selection of wines and beers. Parking plentiful. This restaurant is casual but serious thought has gone into the menu. New South is well worth it!"

"New South always seeks local suppliers whenever possible. Their menu changes daily so you usually can expect something new. Your order is prepared fresh for your table. Always good and the servers are there to make your dining experience a great one! We try to make it to New South every week to enjoy what is new on the menu."

"Great local, fresh ,menu that keeps changing, but always keeps some great favorites on too. Came upon this gem during restaurant week and have become regulars. Even if we weren't, the staff sure treat you that way."

"Have eaten here several times and always enjoy the fresh vegetables. This visit was a little disappointing as the vegetable selection was more limited than the winter choices. Despite the vegetable choices, there are no vegetarian options and the daily soup and flatbread both had meat. Would frequent more often if there were more vegetarian options."

"New South food is always awesome. The atmosphere is such that my husband, friends, family, etc can carry on a conversation and hear each other. The service is great! You never know what surprises Chris has in store for the menu, but the food is always delicious!"

"We took some friends to New South who had never been before on Easter Sunday. The place wasn't packed, but about 2/3 of tables were full. Maybe it was because of the holiday, but the food was just "okay" (pasta on the mac and cheese wasn't even cooked thru and sort of crunchy), and the service was poor. We had to get up and ask each time we needed refills on ice tea and water (5 times). The waiter never came back after he served the meal except to give us the check. Over all, not a stellar experience. Won't be back. Too bad."

"We specifically chose this place because it was listed as a "great brunch spot." On Easter, they advertised a special brunch menu. Not only were they not offering the menu advertised upon arrival, but when I pulled their website up on my phone, several of the items on their "usual" brunch menu were not being offered--everything on Easter was basic egg breakfasts, some sandwiches, and two lunch plates (meatloaf and turkey). Manager came to the table and said "hey, we work with local farmers, so whatever we have is what we can offer." I think it's great to work with local farmers and I appreciate restaurants who do, but don't advertise your menu several weeks in advance when there's that many variables. Food was only OK unfortunately."

"This was our first visit to New South and what a wonderful surprise we received. The food was excellent! The pork chop was to die for and the chicken melted in your mouth. The presentation was wonderful. We will enjoy this experience again."

"The lunch menu was more than satisfactory for women or light eaters, but a man like my husband would not find it satisfactory. So it all depends upon the clientele the managment is aiming to please."

"Not used to seeing so many kids sitting in a bar/restaurant, particularly on Valentines Day. For the prices they charge, the ambiance is not appealing at all."

"With the exception of the meatloaf that was too dry our food was excellent. We especially enjoyed the pork belly sliders and the scallop/shrimp special. Our server was also excellent."
