"Wow, the food was fabulous. Can't wait to go back. I had the sweet potato waffle with a fried chicken breast. I love sweet potatoes so this was right up my alley. The chicken was so moist and tender. I am still thinking about it."

"I ate at Gussies on Mother's day, when all they offered was a $28 Brunch. The brunch was not very good. Of particular note, the fired chicken was very dry, even the dark meat. There were no waffles. The price was very high and unadvertised when reservations were made. Felt like when you eat breakfast at a hotel for some ridiculous price becasue its the only game in town. Showing up on Mother's day with 6 people in tow did not leave any options. I would be fine with it if the food were decent.
Can't reommend."

"This was my first visit. I had a good experience. My table was ready as soon as we walked in, the service was great and food was excellent. I would definitely return."

"Gussie's appears to have sprouted in a former chinese restaurant. No one greeted you and we just picked a table to sit down. The menus were well worn and had been scotch-taped to hold them together.
The spicy chicken strips and waffle fries were very good, hot and the strength of Gussie's. A gumbo was also good but very rich. Gussie's is not for weight watchers. They also had a buffet which most seemed to enjoy but the menu items were good, hot and provided ample portions.
Looking around, a number of lights had burned out and it appeared that no one was into maintenance. During our meal, a fire alarm went off from the grease in the kitchen but everyone carried on without missing a step.
Good and worth trying but not special."

"I had the fried chicken which was dry and mostly tasteless. My partner had the vegetarian plate which was quite good. I went for the fried chicken and was very dissappointed."

"I think they were a little short staffed. I made reservations, but wasn't even needed. No one was at the host station. There was a sign saying to seat ourselves. As for the food, it was good. I ordered their chocolate milkshake and chicken w/ gravy & rice. The milkshake was delicious! I needed to make sure to stop drinking it because I was getting full. The chicken was pretty good. It was juicy & fried perfectly. I wouldn't mind getting it again. I would go back to try their other items on the menu."

"Went on a Saturday night for a family dinner for my son's 16th birthday; Nice staff, cute place, great food, We were a party of 14 & pretty loud ourselves, but the music was ... WAY TOO LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were about as far away from the band as we could be, but still couldn't talk to anyone that wasn't sitting right next to you. I like jazz, so I was able to tolerate it, but those who don't (like jazz) heard it as just noise!"

"People who work there were pleasant. Fried chicken was freshly made and hot. It was not seasoned enough for me. Rather bland. Waffles were soft and spongy but I prefer waffles when they are crispy. Pecan pie was not good, tasted like grocery store pie. Prices were ok. I wish Gussie well, but add some seasoning to your fried chicken batter"

"Great food and service! Wish i had made it in time for their buffet. One of my pieces of chicken was just slightly dry. Just one. It was a lil like chicken jerky. But overall, it was all good."
