Principe di San Daniele, the Italian Prosciutto and Deli Specialty Company, with its partners, is proud to announce the opening of its first flagship store in Manhattan- Ma&Gia Osteria Italiana.
The true experience of the Italian “Osteria” (Italian for informal simple restaurant with a big counter with great food and wines at a reasonable cost) where Italians meet for lunch of after work in a warm, sociable atmosphere to taste a fresh pasta, a gourmet salad or a mouthwatering plate of authentic Italian deli meats and cheeses pairing with a perfect glass of wine is now open in the heart of Manhattan.
"It was 9:30pm. The restaurant I wanted to go to was closing, but Magia Osteria was open. There was not a lot of people, but it looked inviting. I am glad I gave it a try. I love prosciutto and salami, and this is the place for it. Lots of it, aged 14 to 20 months. It is served attractively on a wooden board, and it is rather inexpensive, especially given the quality (about $4 for a copious serving). I treated myself to 3 different types, followed by a starter and cheese, and I was full. All the while, two tables away, what seemed to be the owner was engaged in an animated discussion with an elderly couple, moving freely from English to Italian, and back. They had wine, and brought out grappa (2 kinds), and had a grand time, like me."
