Pachuco ModMex, is a restaurant that features a traditional and modern twist to old Mexican dishes, featuring Mexican urban foods adding new ingredients.
Eat it – Like it – Love it, February 11, 2012. "Good mexican food can be hard to come by in this city, but i was impressed with Pachuco's fresh approach to Mexican"
Feast on it. Mexico in the Basement "Mojitos are delicious, right? Strawberry mojitos are even better."
"The food was very tasty but expensive. It's $15 for 3 taquitos for a main course but you literally need two servings to at least feel OK -- not full, just OK. Add a $10 appetizer to feel content and you have yourself a $40 meal and that does not include the drinks. The rice and beans, which is the most basic part of Mexican cuisine is $4 extra. Beer is $7.95 a bottle --not a pint-- of Corona or Dos Equis, which is insanely expensive. $10 for a small glass of margarita.
In any case, the food really was tasty and the margaritas, even though you probably need at least 10 of those to get a little bit of a buzz, were inventive and flavorful.
The service was sad. The inattentive server got a few things wrong with our order."

"Very good Mexican food. I did not like the traditional guacamole because it was not prepared with onions, tomatoes, coriander and chile peppers the way it should. The goat cheese guacamole was excellent. The gorditas and the ceviche were great. The taco selection was excellent and cochinita pibil was tops. The food is prepared in authentic Mexican fashion and has nice little twists. I will definitely go back."

"Great spot on Danforth. It's in the basement so initially we were a bit concerned about the ambiance. In the end it turned out to be a great spot and we all enjoyed our drinks and meals.
By far one of the best mojitos and margarita joints in the city."

"Don't understand the bad reviews. Yes. It is a small restaurant in a basement. But it's awesome and rustic. Great food. Decent service. Try the spicy mango margarita."

"Food was delicious all around. Service was a bit spotty - drinks take forever to make, especially if you get the Margarita sampler. But worth the wait - delicious and inventive!"

"Sometimes service can be slow when they are busy but, the huitlacoche & conchinita pibil tacos more than make up for it! Interesting guac flavours too."

"Went with 5 other people to this small mexican restaurant. The guac starters were great and worth giving a shot. The taquitos are hit and miss depending on personal preferences. I'd go for the fish taquitos and avoid the pork tacos (wasn't served hot). The venue is small, and guests should arrive on time as we were asked to leave prior to finishing our end of dinner conversations. It was our fault, we were almost half an hour late once fully assembled. Noise level can be high, and table chairs backing the bar are relatively close but manageable. Good for a date or small gathering. For us out of towners - parking was a b*tch. Lastly, have a go at one of their tequilas or mojitos!"

"Went to Pachuco for first time for my birthday last Sat. Really neat little place, and very accommodating for our large group of 20. I was over an hour late, but they didnt seem to mind that everyone ordered at different times. Excellent traditional margaritas, really great mexican cuisine, delish guac and homemade chips, and excellent selection of tequila! My group was very loud, but so was the music, so maybe not optimal choice for intimate or romantic dining. The servers were awesome, all you had to do was look around and someone would run right over to see what you needed. I will for sure be visiting again!"

"1st time here and feel I have found a hidden gem. The service was excellent. We shared the guacamole sampler and the fish and duck tacos for our two mains. The homemade tortilla chips were excellent as were each of the dips. I was a little disappointed that the corn tortillas served w/mains were not as good. Doubt they are 100% corn. I hope they source those - both for taste and to serve customers with wheat intolerance. I preferred the duck dish to the fish dish though I have heard the fish is really popular. Their list of Bebidas are worth the visit to this brick-faced basement hideaway. They offer the traditional - mojitos, margaritas - as well as some elegant twists on the traditional. There are enticing non-alcoholic drinks too"
