"Let me be clear: there were a lot of people at the restaurant. There was a convention at the hotel but it apparently didn't think to increase the staffing of the restaurant. With entrees running in excess of $28, having all four of our entrees overcooked, dry, and salty was a little unexpected. We had to ask for bread, for water refills, and silverware which isn't what one expects at a restaurant of this caliber.
I've stayed here for this same convention for the last 7 years. The menu has changed to be simplified but of the three meals I've had on this trip, none of them have been worth the money being charged. It is unfortunate that this is the only dinner restaurant in the hotel."

"The menu changed and so did the food quality. The steak was over cooked and had to be sent back. The "old" iceberg wedge came with a delicious steak house sliced piece of bacon which is gone. The new iceberg wedge came to the table with cold and chewy bacon pieces that were not edible.

"Very disappointed with the steaks. Ordered the speciality "spencer steak" medium rare - it was dry and tasteless. Dinner for 4 was $300. I would have enjoyed a steak from Costco grilled at home more. The service was excellent. The ambience fine. Will not go back. The other strata were equally disappointing."

"We let our server know up front that we were going to a show @ 7:30 we arived at our reserved time of 6:00 p.m. we though 1 1/2 hours for dinner would have been plenty of time for a relaxing dinner but not so, we were late for the show. Maybe next time we will need 2 hours"

"We went for restaurant week and will never go back. We have been there once before and were delighted with the meal and service but that was about two years ago. We have bought gift certificated for presents for family based on the meal and service we had there. This time the hostess was rude, we were ready to leave and go to Twigs. It would have been nice if they had told us the steak was a 5 OZ before we got it. If they had we would have ordered of the regular menu. We were not impressed at all with the meal. We asked to have out parking validated and the waiter took the slip but when we put it in the meter it cost what $2.50 which is exactly what it would have cost if they had not validated the parking. We will never go back and h"

"15+ dinners at Spencers Waiter was very under knowledgable about menu, and basic questions., and was way too "helpfully" intrusive, while forgetting the rudimentary things like coffee spoons and sugar and lemon twists for expresso. $45 Steak overcooked and $55 lobster tail bland. Quite blase' for a $ 200 dollar dinner for 2. My other times at Spencers were much more enjoyable. Will be back, but the bloom seems to be off the rose"

"The prix fixe menu during Restaurant Week was terrific and a great draw. Every flavor on the entree was excellent (I had the steak/prawn combo with broccoli rabe) and I especially liked the espresso coffee flavored creme brulee dessert.
Sadly, we were seated next to a family group that included 3-4 very young, fussy, noisy and poorly behaved children with inattentive parents and Grandmother who should not have been dining at Spencer's, a restaurant not well-suited or intended for young children. Take that melee to Chuck E. Cheese! My dining companion and I had to raise our voices to be heard over the shrieks and fussing of these kids and we were sitting quite close to one another."

"Off to unimpressionable start at door, doorman walked in closing both doors to my 18-year old son who arrived earlier than us. Guess he didn't think our son was an important customer. We sat out front in black Jaguar for over a minute while two people stood at the front podium. No doorman or valet. I went in and asked if valet was available; a younger man gave me a claim ticket and the doorman said it was hard to see the car through the window. ??
Steak great but prices ridiculous, saw one table get up and leave after seeing menu and told he waiter it was unreasonable. Decor comfortable & quiet. All and all, wouldn't go back."

"Spencer's is not your everyday restaurant. We go there to celebrate special occasions, and my husand's employer has chosen Spencer's numerous times for the group Christmas party. It is always an excellent experience. Wonderfully warm atmosphere and a super staff greets you. They have an expansive wine list and a limited menu (enough choices to satisfy most tastes though). Remember, it is a steak and chop restaurant. The food is always delicious. I have never had a bad steak there. The salads and sides are a la carte, so prices can add up quickly. Most of these are large portions though, so many may be shared. Dessert is always a decadent experience. Spencer's is perfect for a special event, intimate dinner, or if you're out to impress."
