James Landing Grille at the Marina
Kingsmill Resort has reintroduced waterfront dining to its collection of five restaurants with the James Landing Grille. This new culinary experience features a two-story restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. The James Landing Grille is a wonderful place to gather with family and friends at Williamsburg's only riverfront restaurant option. The James Landing Grille has a full menu primarily focused on fresh ingredients and locally-sourced seafood.

"I and my significant other thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at James Landing Grille! First of all...we caught the shuttle to the restaurant from our suite. The shuttle arrived within two minutes of us calling for it. Secondly...we arrived 30 mins earlier than the time our reservations were set; however, our table was still ready! Lastly....our waitress/server, Lauren....was extremely helpful, patient, kind, courteous to us. She kept a smile on her face...and though she checked on us often...she wasn't bothersome. Needless to say....this was probably one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long, long time!!! Thank you and we will be coming back!!!"

"We had a very nice luncheon birthday party for 8, and all enjoyed their meals. The cake was very special and tasted great.

"The ambience was great, on the river, great views. The seafood was previously frozen and you could tell. My daughter had a hamburger and said it was good. If you are looking for a burger and a great view, theis place if fine. If you want a fine meal for a celebration or special occassion, there are much better choices for the cost."

"Hadn't been here since the upper level renovations which are very nice.. The only good restaurant in Williamsburg where you get a river view.. Even coming here during the LPGA tournament at Kingsmill, we had a great meal for our out of town family, with a good range of choices .. Excellent seafood... Too cold to enjoy the deck for dinner, but we'll be back in the summer."

"Disappointing. Food was good, service improved dramatically after we complained it took 30 minutes for our initial drink order to arrive and we saw they were about to seat 2 tables of 10 next to us (which also explained the 3 confirmation calls we got before arriving - small, but very full restaurant). Hurriedly placed and received our dinners. Crab cakes and salmon were both fairly good. Wedge salad dressing is overly sweet, ruining what could be a good salad. The killer was being asked to leave at 9:30 on a Friday night because "we're told to close up and send you to Eagles (an older Kingsmill restaurant) ". The restaurant and bar were both still more than half full at this point - why ask paying customers to leave?"

"The atmosphere at this restaurant is great. It overlooks the James River and really feels like a beach restaurant. They have a good amount of outdoor seating, and a nice circular firepit. The interior is nice as well. My wife and I dined here and began outside, but moved inside once the sun started to set and it became colder outside.
The service is poor at this restaurant. Our server took 20+ minutes to bring our drinks (he didn't even bring them - a busboy/food porter checked on us and brought them to us). It took a long time to get our food, which was good but nowhere near great. Our bill came and our server never came and got it. We had to find a member of the waitstaff and give it to them ourselves. "We stayed at the Kingsmill Resort and from the choices of places for food and drink at the resort, James Landing was about the only choice. There were others at the resort but after checking their menu and times, they just weren't worth going to. The nice thing about the James is that it is within walking distance of cottage in the resort. And if you don't feel like walking, the resort will send a bus to take you home. The meals are very good and the prices are appropriate and competitive to restaurants near by.
The place has no sound baffling and so it is loud. While it was nice inside, I couldn't hear much of what my companions were saying for the volume from other conversations."

"The food was average, the service was good. I enjoyed the drinks (great sangria margaritas) and the view is beautiful. The seafood sampler was good (loved the big bang shrimp) but my mahi mahi was way too salty. The manager was nice enough to take it off our bill and my boyfriend loved his creme brulee. With a little bit more time and experience, this restaurant could be rather good."

"The lobster tail dinners were very good.....the setting was beautiful and watching the sun go down adds to the experience. It is unfortunate the designer of this restaurant has the servers carrying the orders up a flight of stairs used by the diners also. "They continue to make great changes here!
I love the new decor inside with the addition of booth seating both upstairs and down. And there's a big addition that's underway for the deck which is going to make a great outdoor deck even better! Looks like they are adding a big outdoor fire pit on the deck and said they are also installing heaters on the deck. No better water front dinning this side of the beach.
Service was quick and friendly and the new menu has lot's of options for my older kids who can't seem to move beyond a good burger. But there are great seafood dishes and a pretty solid wine list, with lot's of wines available by the glass."

"We had a wonderful dining experience at James Landing Grille. When making our reservation, I had requested a nice "romantic" table for two, and they delivered! After being greeted as though we were regulars (it was our first visit) we were taken upstairs to our beautiful corner table with windows on two sides, overlooking the river and a gorgeous sunset! The food was outstanding, with double lobster tails cooked to perfection for me, and grilled tuna for my hubby that he raved about! Our server (I think his name was Craig??). was very professional, knew his menu, and was a pleasure to talk to. He was VERY attentive without being intrusive and took care of our every need. Awesome! Ambiance, great service and great food - perfect!"

"While they have improved greatly since opening, I would rate the food as adequate not exceptional. We had a wonderful hummus appetizer, and dinner was very good, but for the price I do expect a higher level of presentation and service. We love the location and I am sure we will return for a casual meal on the deck this spring."

"My wife and I celebrated Valentine's Day by having dinner at James Landing Grille-Kingsmill.Honestly, we are like restaurant critics, but thoroughly enjoyed our experience there. It was our first time dining at James Landing Grille and I must say we were impressed. We enjoyed a three course meal which was so delightful and creative, I had to meet the chef and shake his hand.The ambiance was very romantic and the service was great. High marks all around for James landing.I'd recommend it to anyone."

"I ate there with 7 girlfriends for 2 of our birthdays. It was great. The service was excellent (Liza?) and the food great. It wasn't crowded and was quiet and nice. The desserts were wonderful too. we liked that we could order ala carte for the main meal.I had excellent steak and crab cake and rice medley that was wonderful along with great green beans. We will go back and look forward to outdoors on the water in the spring."
