Bavette’s is a European-Style steakhouse. The signature is a prime ribeye that is dry-aged in house. There is also a wide variety of fresh seafood, including a daily selection of fresh oysters, king crab, and shrimp cocktail. Bavette’s also specializes in classic cocktails with a focus of brown spirits. The value driven wine list is eclectic and global.

"have been wanting to get in to Bavettes. it's a difficult ticket so I took a 5PM. Felt like a senior citizen but the place fills up FAST. My steak was amazing. The fois gras terrine was a bit too refrigerator cold so it lost some of its flavor. I love the room. you'll think you walked into Paris around 1920. Very romantic. Subdued lighting. Beautiful chandeliers. I'll be back!"

"Bavettes is a warm, cozy place to empty your wallet. The food and service are outstanding... you will need to reserve though --way in advance. Be prepared to open your wallet and shell out a few "shackles" -- impressive wine and champagne list. Knowledgeable servers. BUT THE COST - will be a factor... at least for those of us that are not use to a $300 dinner for two ...drinks, appetizers, entre, dessert, coffee...etc.

"Shrimp De Jonghe & Stroganoff were fantastic. Chicken was too salty & lemony for me. Asparagus was a bit wilted and again too much lemon. Roasted tomatoes were good, but one was quite charred. Our waiter forgot about us after we sat for 3 hours, despite serving the 4 tables directly next to us. I finally called him out on it and he said "I didn't forget you....so that will be all for you tonight?" I responded with, "a desert menu would be nice". He brought the desert menu and check at the same time. Annoying. I also told them four times to STOP reaching over me to fill my water glass, which they did 9 times. The restaurant is cool, but dark. The 3 tables next to me used their iphone's flashlight app to see the menu."

"Great find that was recommended by our children. Had to get use to the very, very dim lighting but once we did it worked out beautifully. Our waiter Erik was fantastic. Offering recommendations "with experience" and even with a packed house he frequently checked in to see how we were doing.
The "choice" Chicago ribeye was a little disappointing. Tasty but not tender like a prime -- needed more "fat" -- & the steak fritte was tough. Overall all the other dishes were very good -- especially the cesar salad , corn and deserts. We'll definitely go back."

"We moved from the burbs into the city almost a year ago. Since then we have loved trying new restaurants. Bavette's definitely is one of the best places we have found. The service was great. The ambience was dark and romantic. Our steaks were perfect. Many steak places do not cook steaks to the proper temperature which always surprises me. Only sad that getting a reservation is hard. Highly recommend you plan ahead or go early."

"So good, everything was sooo goood. If you eat corn and could leave happy after just that it is pretty darn awesome corn-elote corn. Don't miss out on it. The petit filet was perfectly cooked and as good and arguably better than any of the big steak houses I frequent. Get the crab cake and save room for the chocolate cream pie. I don't even really go for chocolate when choosing a desert but this is not to be missed. BTW, the service was impeccable and the place is booked every Friday and Saturday through the rest of the summer."

"I really enjoyed Bavette's. I met up with a friend and we shared the crab & avocado salad. She had the pork chop and I had the filet - both of which were quite delicious. The atmosphere is trendy, but not too over the top. The noise is also not nearly as loud as some other vibrant Chicago restaurants, so we were able to carry on a conversation. I will definitely return to Bavette's and will be sure to check out their beverage & dessert selection next time, too!"

"My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary here. As we both work in the restaurant industry, we spent a lot of time in choosing a special place (I had been dying to go since I first read about it.) Upon arrival, I was pleased with the ambiance, very romantic with great music playing in the background...all of the host and wait staff were very pleasant. Our waitress, Kaitlyn (I think was her name) was great. She highlighted some menu favorites for us and we chatted easily. We settled on crab cake to start followed by the 24 oz bone in ribeye and petite filet Diana along with sides of elote and mashed potatoes and chocolate cake for dessert. Everything was amazing...such a memorable night."

"Incredible experience from the small entry way to feeling you are entering a Jazz era speakeasy. Recorded vinyl records and darkened tables in brick walled rooms add the overall "vibe". "We had an early dinner for a group of four. It is a beautifully restored and decorated space, dimly lit to create an intimacy at each table. We sat at a booth near the bar upstairs. The bar was lively, but we didn't have any trouble hearing our table conversation. Both the bartender and our server were well versed in the menu, with excellent suggestions based on your particular interests. We ordered a variety of items... the meatball and pasta, lamb chop, ribeye as entrees. Excellent. Even the sides were outstanding. The salad wedge was particularly delicious. We were delighted to be brought a nice glass of zinfandel from another table, as it is the policy of the restaurant to "share a glass" if you bring your own bottle. A treat!"

"I went here for dinner with my wife. For Christmas I got her two tickets to a show at the Chicago Theatre, and I found Bavettes as a restaurant that was rated high and walking distance to the theatre so I figured that we'd give it a shot. We had reservations at 5 pm on a Saturday, which is right when they open. There were only a few other couples when we first got there, but the place filled up fairly quickly from there. We were greeted at the hostess table right when we walked in the door, and were seated right away. It's a fairly large restaurant with a large bar right in the middle. "Overall the place was awesome! We will definitely be back. My husband had the burger and it was AMAZING. I don't even eat red meat, and I would consider getting that the next time we go. I had the roasted chicken and it was really tastey. Our friend ordered the Steak Frites and it wasn't good at all. It tasted like a salt lick and was tough. The drinks were wonderful and our waitress was really friendly, but she definitely could have come to check on us more. We were starving and I think it took her 25 minutes just to take our order for appetizers. I definitely recommend getting dinner here, it has an awesome atmosphere and the food is wonderful."

"this was my second visit. The food and service were great. They also have great jazz piped in but the room very loud this time and you could not hear it. On my first visit this was not the hot spot it is now. Very hard to get a reservation...should do it at least a week in advance."

Although the staff is very professional and pretty well trained, like all Brendan Sodikoff restaurants, there is an attitude that they are doing you a favor by letting you eat there. Wonder how busy they will be in 2014?

"The space is cool. The drinks were great. That is about all I can say positive. The food was SO salty two of us didn't even eat our meals and sent them back. The waiter informed us the parent company's name means salt and they are heavy handed with the salt. More like heavy truck load--it was indelible. And the service was beyond slow and the waiter never once came to check on our meals. We go out a lot and like to hit the new hot spots. I say skip this one for dinner and maybe go for drinks at the bar. We will absolutely not go back and would not recommend anyone bothering."

"I took my significant other here to celebrate a birthday and we had a great time. We had a reservation for 7:45 and were seated promptly when we arrived, even though we were about 10 minutes early. It was pretty busy, even on a Monday night, but we enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere (although we felt music was a tad too loud at times...and we're 20-somethings!). The restaurant itself is gorgeous; dimly lit and romantic. Our waiter was pretty good, but not the best we've ever experienced. Overall, the food and cocktails were great. The menu is not particularly inventive, but the flavors were there. We had a memorable time and would consider returning."

"Had an 8:45 reservation and got there at 8:30. They said our table was ready...followed the hostess to a table and she turned to us and said it would be a few minutes. Huh? The table was unoccupied. Sat for 20 minutes while numerous waiters tried to get us to order a drink. Then at 8:55 we were taken to the exact same empty table. Huh? Our waiter was completely uninterested in serving our table. Didn't give us a chance to even look over the menu and wanted us to order. The food was the saltiest food we have ever eater. 2 of us went through 4 bottles of water. Didn't even bring leftovers home. Then the waiter threw the bill in front of me while my husband had his hand out for the bill. We will never go back there again."
