The A1 Autostrada was the first Italian motorway that connected Milan with Naples via Bologna, Florence and Rome and notably reflects Danilo Terribili's concept of serving classic Italian dishes from all regions. A1 Cucina Italiana introduces urban Los Angeles to the full range of flavors found all over Italy. The cuisine is simple and rustic with a few unusual, although authentically Italian ingredients to add a contemporary and somewhat unexpected spin.
Chef Fredy Escobar is committed to use the freshest and the most authentic ingredients resulting in lively, flavorful food. The pizzas are roman style. Thin crust with ingredients like Swiss chard, Calabrian hot peppers, mozzarella di bufala, guanciale, artichokes, prosciutto and home made Italian sausage.
Equally a neighborhood and destination eatery, A1 intends to be both.
"Lunch or dinner, this casual-with-class ristorante will accommodate your dining wishes. Two rooms, each with a lovely ambiance, plus an upstairs room for private parties, make Il Buco available for almost any occasion.
The staff and service personnel are gracious, give personal attention as if you are the only occupant, and the food and presentation... ahhhhhhh!
Once you come, you'll be a repeat customer."

"Perfect place to meet if you're coming from Santa Monica and meeting a friend who lives to the east. Easy street parking, really good food (one of the few places in LA where you can find carcioffi!) and very quiet -- easy to have a conversation."

"Really, really like this place. Has a nice look to it and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Food was also outstanding - highly recommend their pizza. They definitely do not rush you with anything, which is nice. Definitely one of our regular favorite spots."

"We are at Il Buco about twice a month. The staff is amazing, the food is consistently great (especially for the price point). It is Drago quality in a warmly accessible venue. The wine list is consistent and accessible and matches very well with the menu. After a brief change to A-1, we are thrilled that that Il Buco is back."

"Good food -- creative salads (tad heavy on pre-mixed dressing); excellent calamari, lamb (3 thick-cut chops, cooked to med-rare order), and veal; good ravioli and veggie pasta. Wine selection seemed a bit random, but we had a medium priced Dolcetto D'alba, which was fruity and flavorful. Our waitress was an aspiring actress, attentive and helpful and the maitre d' was a non-Italian man (an El Salvadoran) with dreams of owning his own restaurant one day! All in all, not a blow-your-socks-off experience, but certainly an enjoyable meal in a quiet setting."

"The server was extremely attentive, always checking to see if we were happy with everything. The food was excellent. The dorade was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. The asparagus soup was light and delicious. The panda cotta was great. No complaints."

"Excellent pastas served in generous (almost too generous) portions. Recently redone interior makes the space brighter and friendly. One of our favorite Italian restaurants."

"Our group of 5 people really enjoyed the food and service at Il Buco. The noise level was very low so it was easy to talk with a larger group. Service was spectacular. Food was really, really good."

"The food was adequate: loupe de mer was bland and almost tasteless, lasagna was quite good though. Service was attentive by all involved. The biggest downer was the lack of energy in the restaurant...the room looked old, the decor tired, the other patrons were, well, 'mature'. We were fed, but didn't have fun. We probably won't return."
