The John Marshall Tasting Experience at Oak Hill
The John Marshall Tasting Experience at Oak Hill starts its second season of a unique way to explore the pairing of amazing wines with savory foods on April 6 2013. Brought to you by Barrel Oak Winery, ("Northern Virginia's Favorite Winery 2012" Virginia Living Magazine). Be seated in our 245 year old mansion and taste wines ranging from local off-dry to some of the best in the world. Learn about the original owner -U.S. Chief Justice John Marshall- The Great Justice, at whose funeral the Liberty Bell is said to have cracked. In all, over your 90-minute seating you will taste six wines paired with beautifully prepared small dishes as you explore and enjoy and laugh and sigh and share each with your guests and our knowledgeable and considerate staff. Outside, you are surrounded by vineyards and the amazing beauty of Fauquier horse country. Reservations are limited and seating is by room at specific times of the day. Truly a singular experience of wine and its pairing with food.

"We had a fabulous time at the John Marshall tasting experience. The service was impeccable. We really liked that the pairings acccomodated all different tastes - red only, white only, sweeter wines, a mix. The prices ranged from $29 to $79, so you can have a fun, affordable tasting or a splurge.
I would highly recommend and can't wait to go back when they select new wine pairings for the summer."

"I loved the relaxed feel of the place, a very nice old house with a great view of the wine plants and serice was outstanding and i would return to try more of there wines"

"thoroughly enjoyed the experience. enjoyed the pairing w/ wines and food. We are picky eaters but enjoyed the foods and they truly enhanced the wines. Appreciated the owner walking around and talking with the guests. Nothing pretentious very comfortable - will definately do it again."

"Great food, wine, and atmosphere. Enjoyed chatting with the staff, including Andy, John and Carrie, as they were very knowledgeable about the wine and food, as well as, the history of the property. We'll definately be back and would highly recommend."
