Prospect is a modern New-American restaurant and bar that offers an ambitious addition to Brooklyn"s emerging New-American culinary scene, with casually set fine dining and specialty drinks.
Additional reservations are available by calling directly.
"Lovely, thoughtfully composed plates in Fort Greene marred only by inattentive (and dim) service. Also, painfully poor acoustics make that noise level tantamount to a rock concert."

"This place has a wonderful neighborhood feel to it. It's busy and everyone works really hard to please. I was delighted to be served a gratis appetizer of razor clams--yummy. The Japanese crudo was confusing--nothing really came together although the spicy little sprigs of green were intoxicating. Alas, service was a little slow--correction--VERY slow. Could no longer wait and had to leave before the main course arrived. Everyone was very gracious and I will go back. I am assuming it was just a busy night where the kitchen lost track of the table where I was dining alone among all those other tables packed with groups."

"I want to like, 2 blocks from my apt, haute cuisine, vibrant bar scene
We enjoyed our meal- night out away from kids for a couple hours- but difficult to say this competes with manhattan's finest.
Entrees were ok also but not spectacular- suckling pig & butter poached lobster. Bright punches like puréed fennel with the Lobster and the turnips with the pork but underwhelming for $28 an entree.
Service was disappointing. expect more than "are you all set to order", upselling repeatedly & inelegantly for cocktails. No wife does not dislike her cocktail, is not ready to drain it & order another. Btw, a margarita by many names is still a rita but with no salt even if there is 'beet shrub' in it"

"Such great places now in Brooklyn! Food is as good as anything in Manhattan, prices are just a bit lower. As for Prospect, it has to be one of the very best! GO!"

"The food here has received some rave reviews but our dinner was very average...including overcooked halibut that had very little flavor. The service was quite slow and one person in our party was served the wrong dish and then had to wait for the replacement another 15 minutes while the rest of us ate our main courses. The noise level here is VERY loud -- diners have to yell at each other over the piped in music. Prospect very much has the feel of eating in a bar and not in a restaurant -- this is not a place for a fine dining experience. Average, overcooked food and 90 minutes of yelling to have a conversation...we won't be going back."

"I can't handle how good Prospect is - whether it's the food or the service - you can't go wrong. The tasting menu is particularly exciting. I've gone several times and had the tasting menu twice. The last time I went with a group and we ordered off the menu. The big hit was the grilled octopus - and I have to tell you I really hate any of the "chewy" foods (squid, clams, octopus) but this was amazing."

"My husband and I enjoyed the chef's tasting, and it was wonderful. The only problem is that the food was so incredible that I'm afraid I won't enjoy "regular" food as much as I used to."

"Delicious cocktails, open concept kitchen and excellent ambience are all reasons to come to Prospect. The food is hip and interesting without being over the top- the pork belly, lobster roll, and halibut are all phenomenal- great place to come for a dinner date or just for a small group dinner with cocktails. I've recommended Prospect to many friends, and will continue to hit it up for good food on the regular."

"I wasn't sure what restaurants were around BAM, but was very happy that open table listed this one. The staff is warm & friendly and the food... wow. I'm not a foodie, though I could see myself becoming one if all restaurants were like Prospect. Great cocktail selection and I'm pretty sure I cleaned my plate."

"The food selections and combinations were great and a very interesting. 1/2 of our dishes were amazing and the other half was very good, but just missing some flare and taste compared to the other dishes. We will definatly go back as the overall experience was very good and the servers were very receptive to honest feedback."

"You can do no better within a few blocks of BAM than this tiny, friendly contemporary American bistro. The black bass is crisp and robustly seasoned on the outside, light and delicate on the inside. The roasted cauliflower is a heavenly meal in itself, with an herbed bread crumb topping and an infusion of Parmesan flavor. (Add a few drops of lemon juice and you'll have an unforgettable experience.)"

"Excellent food! Very convenient to BAM; we ate early, before performance, but I will find out whether they are open after a performance. Will definitely go back. Pricier than neighborhood restaurants but the food was several cuts above others."

"Meticulously prepared, inventive, and exquisitely presented food -- a feast for the eyes before delight for the palate. The dining bar facing the open kitchen is a great place for one or two diners. The music is louder than I usually enjoy while dining -- and the great vibe, great food and appreciative crowd more than make up for it."

"The food is fantastic. We may have been skeptical of Fulton location, but were transported the moment we entered. We ordered from the Dinner menu (not the tasting), and the specials in particular were outstanding."

"We went for the first time for my partner's birthday. The service was excellent, the room is understated romantic, the food is at times almost overstated --with each side having its own over the top special preparation (eg peanut butter-stuffed date), but overall was excellent, with an unusual lamb belly with smoked yoghurt sauce that was to die for and a melt in your mouth foie gras as first rate appetizers. The mains were less exciting - the month-aged duck special tasted too bland for that treatment and the roast suckling pig was delicious but not special. But for dessert, when I explained it was a birthday and asked them to put a candle in the cake, they not only did that, but also wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate on the plate!"

"Cocktails were made well, and the service was very attentive. The food was inventive and tasty, but I knocked it down to 4 stars because there was a consistent low temperature issue with all of the dishes, and the lamb belly was a bit overcooked. Still very good, but a bit disappointing because I bet the dishes served at their proper temperature would have been even better."

"Went for an early Saturday night(545pm) dinner reservation which I got last minute. My wife and I both had the tasting menu, a couple of the signature cocktails, and a few glasses of wine. The tasting menu was very good and at $80 a decent value. Everything was very well prepared and the flavors worked sometime to soaring heights and other times just as "hm thats pretty good." The best dish was the ricotta w/ spinach topped with seared foie gras. As with many tasting menus, you'll be hungry about an hour after you eat but I would not consider that a knock on the food. The cocktails were excellent, especially the Prospect Sour. The service was beyond reproach - the perfect embodiment of relaxed yet helpful brooklyn service."

"An outstanding neighborhood find in Ft Greene. Dining bar overlooking kitchen is place to sit for the Chef's tasting menu which he makes up on the spot based on your likes/dislikes. Then you can watch it being prepared. The wine flight was very good also, some interesting choices. Convenient to BAM and Barclay Center, but for tasting menu recommend make it a destination meal."

"Had the beets, octupus, lamb belly, cassoulet, sea bass, and meatloaf burger. All were great, the octupus and cassoulet outstanding. Solid cocktails (one of the better old fashioneds in NYC) and good service (maybe slightly overattentive.) A great NYC restaurant and an excellent addition to the neighborhood."

"Simply put, Prospect provides fantastic food and sophisticated drink in a comfortably hip atmosphere. The service is genuinely caring, forthright, and generous with waitstaff who will happily take the time to carefully explain the intricate and delectable dishes. Perfect for a date eager to impress or for a night out in the neighborhood, Prospect should top any diner's list for a great night out."

"We went at 8pm on a Friday night - so it was full but service was very good to seat us quickly.
The pros: The tasting menu with wine parings - very good. The pastry chef came out for desert to explain the dish which was nice. The presentation, quality and standards were very high.
The cons: The food was way too slow for a tasting menu and for the price should have included a plate cleanser and the offer of a coffee/digestive. We was not offered this and the bill was promptly set on the table after desert so we could not ask for coffee/digestives.
For the price (380 USD with tip) for 2 I expected a little more for the money"

"I think if we hadn't gotten the tasting menu I would have been much happier with Prospect. The Good: -The scallops were incredible, perfectly cooked so they melted in your mouth. -The 28 day aged cut was delicious as well served with some sort of spinach puree that I found myself wishing I had bread to soak up more of. The bad: -The banana cake desert tasted like a frozen cake from the grocery store. -$80 per plate for a tasting menu is asking too much for what we were served. I would suggest the restaurant cut that in half and it would be well worth it, until then I would stick with a la carte dining here"

"There was a mixup with our reservation, and we had to sit at the chef's bar - which we were not happy about as it was hard to have a conversation 4 people across. They were very apologetic, and took care of us - comped first round of drinks, and appetizers. Food is excellent and creative. Presentation is beautiful. Flavours of food together are interesting and outstanding. We will be back for the tasting menu."
