This spectacular restaurant sits underneath a stunning glass dome constructed of more than 2500 pieces of colored glass. The room curves around a central atrium four stories above the entrance. "I have lived in the Bay for a long time and this was my first visit to the Rotunda at Neiman Marcus. We had the afternoon tea there and the food was AMAZING. I actually like the bread before the main dishes the most.. I had two of them. Also, our waiter mixed up our order and he upgraded us to the most expensive tea set (with the more expensive champagne)! The service was great and I would come back! We also made our reservation requesting the window tables and was honored by the restaurant. The view was so nice!"

"I had visitors from the UK and wanted to take them somewhere special. Neiman Marcus scores on all levels, not only is it a beautiful shop, the restaurant is so elegant, we sat over looking Union Square on a beautiful sunny day eating lobster club sandwiches and drinking champagne, can life get any better."

"We had come an hour too early for high tea, but stayed for lunch, which was delicious. The lobster bisque was wonderfully creamy and full of lobster, and the lobster club sandwich was tasty. I would have given the service 5 stars (our server was absolutely knowledgeable and charming); but, although I thoroughly enjoyed the lobster club sandwich, it was not the sandwich I had ordered. I took a bite, decided to keep it, and simply mentioned the mistake to the server when he stopped by to see how things were. As a result, when we got the bill we discovered that the server had taken it upon himself to completely delete any mention of the sandwich. Classy!
It's a classy place! We'll definitely return (after 2:30!) someday to try their high tea."

"The overall experience was average. The grilled shrimp salad was too full of romaine lettuce and the rest was skimped, including the dressing. The ravioli was good. The service was somewhat uneven and intrusive and I did not appreciate, in the middle of my lunch experience, having to be introduced to another waitperson because of the change in shift. I did like the extra touches of the complimentary consomme, and the overall ambiance of the dining room, and of course the view over Union Square. Lastly, I would like to note that there is a disparity in the menu offerings and prices between what is shown on the web and in actuality."

"Beautiful space - we prefer window table overlooking Union Square. Booths look comfy, but we went there for the view. Very elegant setting, with fabulous stained glass ceiling. Popovers, brought with every meal (I think), are a treat. The rest of the food, my ahi salad and my husbands cesar (large) and burger were good, but not exceptional. Lunch came to about $120 - It's very expensive, but the setting made it special. Tea service is another way to enjoy create a lovely (and maybe less expensive) moment there."

"Another wonderful lunch at the Rotunda. The menu has some new items, and I like the separate "specials" menu which includes appetizer, entree and dessert, as well as a special cocktail. The salads are excellent; also love the caramel pudding dessert! If you want a glass of Rose, try the Whispering Angel. I know everyone loves the view window tables, but I prefer the cozy booths. Our server (young lady with blond ponytail) is always incredibly gracious."

"We had been to the Rotunda, so we knew what to expect. We don't get to The City often because we are seniors, but we do go when we want to go to the theater. We had planned to see "Jersey Boys," and it was playing fairly near the Rotunda, so it made for a lovely day. Great lunch - we each had the lobster club - and great musical, plus lovely weather, and before the tourist season. BART was easy with very little wait and since we had our reservation for lunch, everything flowed perfectly

"I love the round shape of the restaurant and the lighting it has from the windows and huge stained glass ceiling. I think the shape lends itself to nice soft acoustics, not loud even with all the tables filled. Shared the wedge salad and it was great, with the bacon, corn blue cheese crumbles and green goddess dressing all flavors complimented each other and of course the heirloom tomatoes were like icing on the cake. Artichoke raviolis were a foodies mouth's delight, they melt in your mouth. The filet medalions were also very tasty, cooked perfectly to my specific order and the accompanying salad was very nice as well. We did not have time for dessert, but the popovers they serve in place of bread are to die for!!"

"While the Rotunda offers afternoon tea service, it is by far not any traditional afternoon tea that I have had before. I ordered the Royal Tea which included a glass of champagne, 5 tea sandwiches, 1 scone, & 5 mini desserts. The presentation of food was excellent however the food did nothing to "wow" my taste buds with the exception of the scone & the lemon curd. My tea was served with packets of sugar & artificial sweeteners & 2% milk, not half & half. Big disappointment.
My husband ordered the chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread & when it was served there was liquid on the plate that caused the bread to turn soggy.
Service was so-so but the view of union square & ambiance were great but not enough to get me to return."

"I really enjoy my dining experience every time I am at Rotunda. I can't praise enough about their great food and attentive service. The Lobster Club sandwiches is something you must order. I spent a whole 3 hours over there this time and I got to try their 3-tier afternoon tea dessert plate...it was so delicious! "When we are tourists, visiting other cities, a restaurant like Rotunda is the perfect spot. Really elegant, well located (opposite a key destination, in this case, Union Square) and expensive. It's a "Let's try it" kind of place. Well, we loved Rotunda and recommend it. We each had a different kind of salmon salad plus coffee.
Go for something special. But be ready for high prices. (Our lunch for three, with tip, tilted over $100.00!)"

"High Tea is fancy and classy. Choice of tea. A tier of beautiful savory finger sandwiches, scones, and sweet crumpets. Fresh Popovers with strawberry butter. A complementary sample of the day. Enjoy all this under a gorgeous stain glass ceiling and sculpture moldings. Smaller groups less than 4 can be seated by the main window that has a view of Union Square."

"We ordered turkey sandwich and Thai chicken. The bread was stale and the curry sauce on the Thai chicken was VERY salty. The waiter offered to get us something else. We then ordered lobster papperdelle, it was not good either. OVerall, very disappointed with the meal. We have dined there many times in the past, the quality has substantially deteriorated."

"Been here numerous times and not sure if it was Easter weekend but the kitchen was slow in getting food out for my table of 5. 3 had starters but it took another 45 minutes for the entrees to come out. Wait staff came around and updated us that the food was coming, etc. So nothing on the wait staff"

"As always, the popovers were outstanding, and the food is excellent. The service seems to get worse every time we go, so be prepared to ask for anything you want several times. It took two waiters 20 minutes to refill iced tea... However, this is not a place to go when you're in a hurry anyway, so it wasn't a huge problem."

"First time there the food and the service was excellent . I would recommend the Rotunda to a friend.i had the lobster sandwich when it arrived to the table very pleasing to the eye. The ladies that was seated next to us ordered the same thing.The Bloody Mary had just the right kick.The desserts well I'm not a big chocolate person so I would of preferred a scoop of gelato or plain cheesecake with Lemon curd. All in all I will return. The waiter who served us I give 5 stars thank you."
