"We had dinner reservations in the main dining area for three people on Saturday night. As a result of a last minute cancellation in the dinner theater area where Sevilla produces its Flamenco shows, we were offered seat in the dinner theater area at no charge. Normally this is $47.50/person for a prix fixe menu. We were allowed to order a la carte from the normal dinner/tapas menu. As ususal the food was great. But receiving teh show at no additional charge was awesome."

"I love Spanish joints and Cafe Sevilla did not dissapoint. Very hip, great decor and excllent feel good music. I read reviews before coming so was a little concerned about good service. Guillermo our server was the best thing about this place. Man, was he johnny on the spot with everything and really took the time to make sure we knew the menu and had a great meal.
Nothing dissapointed in this place. The Paella was not the best I ever had however it was good and the table enjoyed it. If you get a chance to bring a small group here, do it."

"A lovely time... We arrive at 6:30 and chose to sit upstairs as this was a date for 2. The hostess was polite, courteous and smiled at us warmly. She did say that upstairs would be best for as she could see this was a date nite for us and did say it would get noisy later on. Our waiter was also polite and friendly and ran through the items of choice and we went with a tapa that was really good... I think it was called the Tortilla de papa somethin somethin:). We had a pitcher of Sangria and a loaf of french bread. We had seafood Paella and was absolutely wonderful! Around 8 pm., it was getting noisy but the energy in the place was fun and We finished with the cocolate cake and coffee. We took the salsa dance lessons. A must! So much fun!!"

"We've eaten at this restaurant several times over the years, both at the old and new location, but we will not return. Our service, which started out well enough, ended very poorly. Our waitress disappeared several times, and my friend had to walk over to the manager to complain. After the waitress finally came back and took our additional orders, she disappeared again! It wasn't that busy, either.
The manager never came over to check on us after the initial complaint; they seemed happy to get rid of us. Well, mission accomplished. We won't be back."

"An exceptional experience. My wife and I were seated immediately...we chose an outdoor table under the heat lamps. The waiter was excellent...his recommendation for a flight of sangria samples were spot on. The pear and liche(?) sangrias were outstanding. The signature bleu cheese filled dates (wrapped in bacon) were a true delight...a perfect complement to their statement El Matador margarita. The pan seared scallops were tender and tasty. But the braised short ribs with manchego potatoes...simply amazing and full of taste. That alone was worth the visit. My wife basically ate half of my plate. (smile). We even had a chance to go downstairs to the night club and dance some of the night away. Just a terrific meal and night out."

"Food was great ! Service was really friendly and server knew her menu perfectly. The band was nice but just a little too loud ! Had to stop talking to my partner a few times because I wouldn't even hear myself talking !
But overall, really nice place and I would definitely recommend it."

"Cafe Sevilla( i lived in Sevilla for 5 years) was a gem in San Diego many years ago, but no longer. The new Sevilla is not distinguishable from many other restaurants that have cropped up in the Gaslamp. The food is not authentic.... the Sangria was too sweet to be Spanish and the spices were not all Spanish...maybe Caribbean or Mexican... The prices were too high for the quantity and quality of food and they charged for making the reservation and the birthday candle on our "complimentary" dessert! ( Really?)"

"Food was just meh. We ordered the mushroom and fig Spanish flat bread. That was very tasty, but it needed an extra drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. The trio of sausages were OK, but i think it needed some garlic. We ordered 2 different lamb dishes, both overcooked. Service and ambiance were great, but overcooked meat is a reason for me not to visit this place again."

"My husband took me to Cafe Sevilla to celebrate my Birthday. Unfortunately the service wasn’t very good & the Tapas were below average. We were there for 2/12 & our waitress never refilled our water glasses (that is a #1 no, no). I had to hunt down a bus boy to request water. We ordered 5 Tapas & only two were worth eating. The Beef Skewer was horrible, the meat chewy & tasteless. The mushroom Empanada also horrible, I’ve had better microwaved Hot Pockets.
To top the eve off, they never acknowledged my Birthday."

"Really good tapas spot. A lot of variety. The tapas are very authentic. Our favorite is the bleu cheese stuffed dates. They also serve traditional Spanish entrees, such as paella, along with a variety of sea food, pork, etc. The paella was outstanding. We have always found the service to be excellent. The value was quite good. Cafe Sevilla has live flamenco music several evenings a week, starting at about 9 pm. The is a large area downstairs with the music stage and bar. We ate upstairs in the dining area. The music form the bar was a little loud. Other than that, a great place. We vacation annually in San Diego and we Cafe Sevilla always have dinner there."

"I had been to Cafe Sevilla many times at their old location and this was the first time at the new location although they have been there for more than a year. The new location is very nice and the music, wait staff and overall the client mix was very pleasant and I had a great dining experience. The wine list was just as complete as I remember. We ordered some mojitos to start and they where a bit of mark, but the main reason to go to Cafe Sevilla is the food. Our tapas where great but the main dish, Paella Valenciana, lacked a bit of the flavor full experience I expected and recall having at the old location. I appreciate the fact that our reservation was for 9:30 pm but we where running late and they still received us. Good Job."

"We loves tapas bars, and found this place on busy Fifth Ave in San Diego's Gaslight District. The place was full of energy, with diners ranging from couples to groups of 6-8. Service was fast and the food was brought out quickly. The selections were presented nicely and tasted wonderful. Would certainly go back the next time we visit."

"It's a bit loud, but the food is good enough to endure it. Our meal for three was $65. Two of us were full and the other was "just right" so I think that's a good estimation. I never forget to order the seafood crepe. The empanadas, short rib and spanish sausages are very good as well. Happy hour at the bar 5-7, I think, will help with the bill. I'm not a big fan of sangria but I can recommend the mojito!"

"I usually don't write reviews, however this time I will make an exception. Haven't been to this restaurant since it re open at its new location. Been itching to go. Upon arrival, the hostess was very unfriendly, almost seen robotic, no smile or greeting, just business. We were sat right away. We sat at our table for over15 minutes before anybody approached us. And even then, it was the hostess who saw my frustration from afar and came to ask if anybody had approached us yet. While we waited, other patrons were seated and served drinks right away. It was embarrassing to sit there ignored with my date. My date's sangria was flat and ovewhelmed with alcohol. Can't remember how the food was since by then all I wanted to do was leave."

"Bad news. Tapas uninspired and unlike anything I have experienced in Spain. Jamon Iberico of inferior quality, carved and served to enhance its inferiority. Wine list not bad for Spanish reds but they ruin it all with their shot-glass-sized wine glasses. Service indifferent, except at the bar which was very good. Avoid this place."

"Did not get served water, had to ask a passing waiter for assistance. We already had a pitcher of sangria but would have loved water too.The bacon wrapped dates are over rated. Great concept, but could use a refinement to make pop. I guess it was our waitress who really made the visit sour. The place is beautiful, but with unattentive service it doesnt really matter. Table are a bit cramped in the lower dining room. I have had far better tapas in Las Vegas and Salt Lake."

"This was our first visit and we loved it! We shared 5 different tapas dishes and all but one were delicious and we'd order them again. We started out with the tuna ceviche - it was our favorite of the night. Also tried the empanadas - they were great! The fig/cheese flatbread was terrific - had the lamb, which wasn't so good as it was overcooked, but our waitress was lovely and more than willing to return it to the kitchen and take it off our bill. We also had the pork belly, which, if you like pork belly, I guess it was pretty good; not my favorite but then, I'm not the one who ordered it! All in all, a very good place to eat and drink. We will definitely return!"

"Myself along with three friends arrived on time for our reservation. We were told that we could not be seated for a few minutes and were told we were welcome to wait in the bar. There was only seating at the bar for two of us so the other two stood nearby while we waited for a bartender to take our order. It took more than 20 minutes to receive our drinks. In that time, a manager approached us and asked if were ordering drinks. This was not an attempt to help us obtain service, but rather a subtle indication that if we weren't ordering drinks we should leave the bar. Twenty-five minutes later we were escorted to our table. 45 minutes seems to be a long time to wait if you have a reservation. I will not patronize again."

"I have dined there several times and loved it previously. On this nite there was a front end mgr who ruined the special occasion. His constant meddling in seating to accommodate his cronies and small man/control freak attitude does not work for a high end restaurant. I would let him go work at some club with other obnoxious types- he would fit right in!"
