The Twisted Tail is a bi-level restaurant, bar and live music venue featuring a charcoal-fired grill, a wealth of bourbon selections and the rollicking ambiance of a "juke joint" (or old school Southern music hall). "My girlfriend and I stopped in here a few weeks ago. This place is great fun. We had live music playing right next to us the whole meal, and the offered some great drink specials, a favorite being the one bourbon, one scotch and one beer special. The food was really high quality as well. I didnt expect food that good to come out of the kitchen. It took us back to North Carolina a little bit through nostalgia so it was pretty fun. We will definitely be back again."

"The only negative from our experience at Twisted Tail was the server. The gentleman was very laxed, was not on top of drink refills, nor checking on our meals. When he was told our party did a pre fix menu, we felt he did bare minimum service to accomodate.
The meal was delicious!! Terrific drink selection!!
The lighting in the restaurant was great, noise level was low enough for our party to hold discussion!
I would definitely go back!"

"We had a large group, so we had a limited menu. We were offered the Ricotta Pancakes, Pastrami Sandwich, Shrimp and Grits and Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich as entrees and all the sides on the regular menu. The pastrami was too salty would have been better hot. The Ricotta Pancakes came with a bacon jam which didn't go over well. The shrimp and grits was tasty, but needed more grits and fewer shrimp heads. The chicken sandwich was good, but not great.
One member of our party decided to try the beet salad. She didn't like beets at all, but another member of the party who did like beets suggested they would have been better if not pickled.

"We had an outstanding time at The Twisted Tail. We had a large party of 10 and what was appreciated the hostess called the day before and day of our dinner to let me know what we should expect. Our menu was excellent! LOVED the chicken in a bag! Kudos to our AWESOME waiter Connor! He was very helpful in navigating the menu and new items. Everything tasted delicious. Everyone agreed that the restaurant was one that we would go back to without hesitation. We had a wonderful time and were sad that we had to miss the live music. Our girlfriend was celebrating her 25th anniversary in our organization and she felt very celebrated at the restaurant. Thank you for great service, great food, and a great experience!!!"

"Loved the drinks! Terrific selection of bourbons and whiskeys, but the food was just so-so. Some of us LOVED our choices(burgers, trout, veal) and some were very disappointed (most apps and extremely bland salads). Would probably give it a second chance."

"I made a reservation for two because I wanted a good spot by the stage. I got a couple of calls from the waiters asking me if I was still showing up. I think they were very thoughtful. I was disappointed when I got there: we were assigned seats at the back with no view to the stage. I eventually managed to find two good seats near the stage and was able to enjoy Lisa Chavous show. Excellent blues bar, the food, drink and service are great. I'll definitely go back there."

"I took my boyfriend for his birthday to Twisted Tail. I wasnt sure if he would like it being its a scene I recently exposed him to. But I'm happy to say it was the first time we were both there and we LOVED it. The whole atmosphere & live music was GREAT and I wish I remembered our server, but she was a gem and very knowledgeable of the drinks & menu. So I recommend this spot to anyone who enjoys good food, great atmosphere & good drinks...KUDOS"

"The items on the menu that drew us to the restaurant were either no longer offered or they were out of them. A few people ordered burgers, cooked medium-rare to medium, but they all came out well done. The sweet and sour veal, however, was good. The bar area was pretty crowded and energetic. This is probably a better place just for drinks."

"We tried this place on a whim. Reviews said the food was great so we figured we couldn't go wrong. The Crawfish Mac and Cheese was good. Sauce was lite and didn't leave a funky aftertaste. We liked it but the TX satay was not good at all. We didn't even finish it. The host was very nice, seated us right away, however our waiter disappeared when we weren't sure we wanted to order an entree and took too long to bring a second round of drinks. So, we booked a table at our fav place down the street and went there for the rest of our evening. Maybe it would be better later when they have live music, but it wasn't our cup of tea for food. Also, menu is very small and limiting."

"So we actually never ate here, because they had just received our reservation and they didn't have a table immediately available, but they had a great bartender who explained the specials to us, and a very helpful staff who made us feel very welcome. The noise level was too high for one member in our party so we moved on, but the rest of us would have stayed."

"This place is awesome. Recently they hired a new pastry chef and new head chef. The quality of food is incredible. I had fresh crab cakes that were so meaty and fresh, beef brisket that you can cut with a fork, and pork that is so tender and tasty. The deserts are incredible. The flavors will force you to lick your plate when done. The atmosphere is awesome as well as the service. 150ft away is South st which is convenient to enjoy the sights and walk off that big meal."

"We had a group of 8 and we were seated immediately. Our server was excellent, even though she was busy with multiple tables. The beers on tap were for all beer drinkers and the bourbon drinks were delicious too! The food was fantastic! I highly recommend the cornbread as a side, one can easily be split between 2 people. The salad my friend ordered was huge! The music was very energetic upstairs and it drew us up there after our dinner. Overall, a great evening out! My husband and I have put it on our list of places to go back to."

"Menu had interesting and varied choices although, on a snowy night, I was hoping to have soup but the choice of celery or pepper soup wasn't appealing so we didn't have any. Our meals were good and the sweetbreads brought out before the meal were exceptional. The service was friendly and attentive without being overwhelming. The decor was promising. One side, back near the bar, had some great paintings of music legends, but the side where we sat was a bit too "black" for my taste. A touch of color in the artwork would have helped for me. However, the wooden chairs were beautiful. After dinner, we went upstairs to listen to some blues music at the bar. Fun atmosphere complete with comfy furniture, fireplace and a "real" shuffleboard."
