"Food was tasty and skillfully prepared.Waiter made several errors in calculating our bill (none in our favor.) One we caught, which the manager fixed, and one I didn't catch until after we left the restaurant (on two of three entrees, we were charged higher prices than on the menu. I believe we were charged the prices for the sole "special", rather than the sole meniere on the menu, which is what we ordered.) Also, the sales tax was added to the full price, rather than the actual price charged (we had a $15 off entertainment. com coupon.) Generally, this is a good place, but I recommend checking your bill carefully against the menu prices as well as other calculations to ensure accuracy (we shouldn't have to worry about that.)"

"Our party of four returned to Buon Gusto after over a decade. We had a calamari appetizer (excellent) with a dinner order of veal saltimbocca, petrale sole and prawns. All the dishes were served with polenta and vegetables. They were good and basic Italian fare. There were two big disappointments: the marinara sauce that accompanied the calamari and polenta was pedestrian; our impression was that it came out of a jar. The other disappointment was the cost of the meal which was on the expensive side for a neighborhood restaurant. Our group would probably not return since there are so many good Iitalian restaurants in the Peninsula area."

"All of us had a great experience. Antipasta plate was delicious. Highly recommend the calaramari steak, veal piccata and veal scappoline. excellent polenta as a side dish. Service was wonderful and seated promptly for reservation time on a busy sat evening. Cordial after dinner was a nice surprise!"

"Tthe location was very good and parking easy. Staff was lovely. Noise level was terrible. Acoustics were so bad that it was nearly impossible to have a comfortable conversation. My husbands steak was tough, my fish was very good but the broccoli certainly needed more cooking, and my sister's risotto was not at all what she was expecting. Sadly, a disappointing experience."

"I had been here once before and had a pasta dish which was decent and a good overall experience. This time I ordered a pepper steak. Very disatisfied. One of the worst cuts of meat I had had in a long time. Over half was gristle and fat and overcooked to boot. Not what I would expect for a $26 dinner."

"We always meet our friends here once a year. The food is OUTSTANDING and we always have the same waiter (wish I had his name--I should have asked). I had the canneloni, which was soooo good--I could have eaten another plate. Actually, probably NOT, but I could have taken a plate home! The polenta was yummy--I even made some two days ago (my first attempt) and it was just as good as at Buon Gusto (pat myself on the back). My hubby had the calamari and it was one of ther best I've ever had--very light batter--just right!

"If your in South San Francisco (staying close to one of the airport hotels) and your looking for a nice evening or a good spot for a business dinner, Buon Gusto is a good place to consider. It has a very warm (yet not dark) atmosphere that allows for good conversation and good food. "Dare I say huge "FOH" issues? Management not very aware of what was happening in the busy small dining room, even though he stood at the end of the bar; apparently engaged in something more important. When I finally approached him and nicely though firmly told him of our dissatisfaction (3 of us celebrating a birthday) he immediately went into service mode. Things looked up from there but when he told us he called his partner who lived up to street to come to restaurant to help people enjoy the evening more, I thought 2 little 2 late. The partner arrived and began doing magic tricks at tables. He was very entertaining so we ended on a happier note. Very mixed feelings about this spot. Not much competition in neighborhood."

"I contacted this restaurant on very short notice for a group reservation of 20+ people. They could not have been more accomodating. To make things simple for everyone to pay their fair share, they offered us a set menu that included several additional items for a set price. It could not have been easier. The staff is fabulous and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, not just for group functions, but for anyone at anytime who enjoys a true italian dining experience."

"Do not get much food for your money. I ordered the Grilled Seafood Combination for 24.95. I felt the portions were to small. The salmon was the size of a small cigar, and the fish was small, round and paper thin. The salad was mostly all lettuce. The veggies were old. "We always enjoy Buon Gusto. The owner is very nice and even offered us an after dinner drink. Parking is easy and it's right off 101 so it's convenient when you are meeting up with other people."
